The Department of Marine Resource's Bureau of Marine Science conducts fisheries research and monitoring, critical habitat protection, conservation, and marine resource education.

DMR's Science Bureau is divided into four divisions: Biological Monitoring and Assessment, Marine Mammal Research, Ecology and the Environment, and Education.
