Commercial Fisheries Landings Program

Landings Data

The Maine Department of Marine Resources (DMR) Landings Program is responsible for gathering data on the volume and value of Maine’s commercial fisheries. The data, which are reported publicly via DMR’s website, are updated annually and are the result of reporting by both harvesters and dealers as required under DMR regulation, Chapter 8.

These data are vital to both the effective management of our commercial fisheries and the state’s ability to demonstrate the economic and social impact of our marine resources.

Harvester Reporting

Options available for harvesters to submit landings reports electronically include the VESL app for iOS and Android devices, or Maine LEEDS.

The VESL app is available for free via the Apple Store or the Google Play Store.

If you have a federal permit with reporting obligations, visit this informational page to see which electronic reporting platforms are available. If you need further help determining which electronic reporting option is best for you, visit this informational page or contact the DMR Landings Program at 207-633-9414.

Dealer Reporting

Electronic and paper reporting options are available for dealers. Please contact the DMR Landings Program at 207-633-9500 option 2 to speak with a Port Agent.

Data Confidentiality

Per state law (12 M.R.S. §6173) and DMR regulation, Chapter 5 the information collected by DMR is confidential and may not be disclosed in a manner or form that permits identification of any person or vessel, except when required by court order or when specifically permitted under law.
