Milbridge, Maine – The Maine Marine Patrol has temporarily suspended the search this evening for Alton Wallace, 51 of Milbridge, who was reported missing Sunday afternoon by a family member after failing to return from harvesting clams.
The search for Mr. Wallace began Sunday at approximately 3:15 pm and focused on the area near Fickett Point at the mouth of the Narraguagus River. Responders were able to use Mr. Wallace’s last cell phone ping, which occurred Sunday at approximately 7:30 am, to determine a location for the search.
Marine Patrol along with the State Police/Marine Patrol Underwater Recovery Dive Team and Marine Patrol Pilot Steve Ingram continued to search the area near Fickett Point at the mouth of the Narraguagus River today.
Marine Patrol will focus on the same area during tomorrow's search and will be joined by Pilot Ingram, depending on visibility.
Local fishermen again participated in today's search as they have from the start of this effort.
