Falmouth - The Maine State Police/Marine Patrol Underwater Recovery Team recovered the body of 18-year old Pedro Matala of Portland at approximately 9:00 p.m. yesterday. A search began yesterday at approximately 4:45 p.m. after Matala was reported not to have resurfaced while swimming with friends in the Presumpscott River in Falmouth.
Yesterday's search involved members of the Maine Marine Patrol, the Maine State Police/Marine Patrol Underwater Recovery Team, Falmouth Fire and Police Departments, Portland Fire Department, and the Maine Forest Service's Aviation Branch which provided aerial support in the search effort.
Matalas body was transported to a local funeral home.
