Marine Patrol Searching for Missing Milbridge Man

Milbridge, Maine – The Maine Marine Patrol along with members of the State Police/Marine Patrol Underwater Recovery Dive Team are searching Narraguagus Bay for Alton Wallace, 51 of Milbridge, who was reported missing yesterday afternoon by a family member after failing to return from harvesting clams.

The search began yesterday at approximately 3:15 pm and focused on the area near Fickett Point at the mouth of the Narraguagus River. Responders were able to use Mr. Wallace’s last cell phone ping which occurred yesterday at approximately 7:30 am to determine a location for the search.

The search yesterday involved members of the US Coast Guard, the Maine Warden Service, the Maine Forest Service, and local fishermen, and was called off last evening due to poor visibility.

The US Coast Guard, which joined the search today, has suspended its search effort pending further developments.

Today’s search is again focusing on Narraguagus Bay near Fickett Point.
