How do I qualify for a license?

You must meet one of the following qualifications:

  • Successful completion of the certified employee training program of a national propane gas association and pass a Maine Fuel Board exam; or
  • Successful completion of a board-approved propane or natural gas course at a Maine community college, career and technical education center or career and technical education region or a comparable institute of this State or another state and passage of an examination.

What are the different types of authorities?

How do I apply to take the exam?

Visit our homepage to submit an electronic examination application. Submit the exam application along with all applicable official transcripts and certificates. IMPORTANT: You must receive approval from the Board prior to scheduling your exam.

Once I pass the exam, how do I become licensed?

No. With the exception of Social Security Number, all application information is public. Contact information provided to the Board is posted on our website.
