Updated Rule for the Control of Notifiable Diseases and Conditions

The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Maine CDC) updated Maine's Control of Notifiable Diseases and Conditions Rule (10-144 CMR Chapter 258). The amended rule went into effect on June 4, 2025. This rule includes the Notifiable Diseases and Conditions List, which specifies the diseases and conditions that clinicians and clinical laboratories are required to report to the Maine CDC. Recent changes improve the Maine CDCs ability to prepare for, investigate, and respond to single occurrences, clusters, outbreaks, and epidemics of communicable, environmental, and occupational diseases and to public health threats and emergencies.
