Adult Immunization

Maine's Expanded Universal Immunization Program

Starting July 1, 2026, the Maine Immunization Program will expand access to vaccinations from children 0-18 years to eligible adults 19-64 years.

Adults 65 years and older are not covered under this program, regardless of insurance status.

To be eligible, an individual must be:

  • Adult Maine resident, ages 19-64 and either:
    • Underinsured/Uninsured
    • Privately Insured, or
    • Enrolled in MaineCare

Why Vaccines Are Important for Adults

Older adults are at greater risk for certain illnesses due to a weakened immune system that naturally occurs with age. Vaccination is a safe and effective way to:

  • Prevent serious diseases.
  • Reduce the risk of complications.
  • Protect loved ones, especially grandchildren, from vaccine preventable diseases.
