Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA)

The Maine Shared Community Health Needs Assessment is a collaborative state-wide health assessment. CHNA reports provide up-to-date health information at the state, county, urban, and sub-population levels. This effort satisfies the need for all tax-exempt hospitals to do needs assessments that meet federal community benefit requirements, supports public health department's public health accreditation requirements, and provides valuable population health assessment data for organizations across Maine.

Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey (BRFSS)

Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey (BRFSS) tracks health conditions and risk behaviors in Maine and throughout the U.S. Maine BRFSS provides state data on issues including asthma, diabetes, health care access, alcohol use, hypertension, obesity, cancer screening, nutrition and physical activity, tobacco use, and many more. Each year over 10,000 Maine adults are called to participate in this survey.

The Maine Integrated Youth Health Survey

The Maine Integrated Youth Health Survey is a biennial survey of Maine students in grades 5-12 that monitors behaviors and attitudes regarding tobacco, alcohol, substance use, mental health, nutrition, physical activity, and protective factors. There are publicly available reports for state, public health district, and county levels. School and school district level reports are available to principals and superintendents to access.
