U.S. CDC: Disruptions in Availability of Peritoneal Dialysis and Intravenous Solutions from Baxter International Facility in North Carolina

Please take a moment to review this timely information from the U.S. CDC about disruptions in certain products from the Baxter International Facility in North Carolina impacted by Hurricane Helene. Federal agencies are working with Baxter and with other manufacturers to restore production capacity for these products as soon as possible.

The Maine CDC and the Maine Hospital Association (MHA) are communicating with hospitals about potential impacts to their supplies due to the facility closure. Hospitals should continue to communicate with the Maine CDC and MHA regarding their situation as appropriate. We will continue to provide updates as we receive them from federal agencies and the American Hospital Association.

Long-term care facilities impacted by the facility closure should communicate with the Maine Healthcare Association and the Maine CDC regarding their situation.

To contact the Maine CDC directly regarding health care facility shortages of IV or PD solutions, please contact Andy Finch at Andrew.Finch@maine.gov.
