Troop B Weekly Report

Week Beginning: 06/14/2021 – 06/20/2021

On 06/15/2021, Tr. Lemieux was traveling north on I-295 in Cumberland when he noticed a vehicle in front of him riding on the fog line. At one point, half of the vehicle was in the brake down lane and the other half was in the right lane. The vehicle sped up to 92mph passing several vehicles. Tr. Lemieux conducted a motor vehicle stop where he made contact with the driver who was identified as Alyssa Amari (28). AMARI showed several signs of impairment. AMARI performed several standard and non-standard field sobriety tests. AMARI was placed under arrest and transported to the Freeport PD and was issued a USAC for OUI.

On 06/15/2021, Tr. Lemieux initiated a motor vehicle stop on I-295 in Falmouth. He made contact with the driver who was identified as Kevin Carroll (34) of Standish. CAROLL and his passenger both had a suspended driver’s license. The vehicle was towed and CAROLL was cited appropriately.

On 06/16/21 Tr. Watson assisted Oxford P.D. with a theft complaint. A male fled Hannaford and was later located on a suspected stolen bike nearby. The suspect, Tanner Marston had items taken from Hannaford. It was later learned the both Oxford PD and Norway have been dealing with Marston frequently for thefts in the area. He has been trespassed from multiple stores to include Hannaford. He was arrested and charged by Oxford PD.

On 06/16/2021, Tr. Lemieux was traveling north on Rt. 136 in Durham. Just ahead of him he noticed a vehicle as it crossed over the fog line and center double yellow line several times. Tr. Lemieux initiated a motor vehicle stop and made contact with the driver who was identified as Jacques Wasso (41) who had an active warrant for his arrest. The passenger in the vehicle did not have a driver’s license. The vehicle was towed and WASSO was placed under arrest.

On 06/18/2021, Cpl. Hink was requested to respond to PA’s Pawn Shop on Main Street in Oxford for a Burglary in progress where it was reported a male throwing firearm out the window. Cpl. Hink arrived and assisted Cpl. Russell and K9 Gus with a K9 Building search.

06-19-2021- Members of the Maine State Police Honor Guard reported to the town of Moscow to attend the funeral service of Ret. Somerset County Sheriff Sgt. Hines. The family had requested the presence of State Police Honor Guard due to the close working relationship of agencies.

On 06/19/2021, Cpl. Hink was requested to respond to Waterford Road in Norway for a Burglary in progress where multiple doors were open on two businesses. Cpl. Hink arrived on scene and had K9 Berry conduct a building search of the two businesses. Nobody was located inside either building.

On 06/17/2021, Tr. Watson stopped a vehicle with multiple defects on the Haines Corner Rd. It was the same car he had stopped a month ago for the same offenses. The driver, Joshua Swett was still suspended. His passenger, Jessica Lane admitted they were coming from a known drug house. Some intel was gathered because of the stop. Swett was charged accordingly.

On 06/19/2021, Tr. Watson stopped a vehicle for defects on Rt. 4 in Auburn. The driver, Shaquille Wright had a warrant for DV Assault and VCR. He was arrested and transported to the Androscoggin County Jail without incident.

On 05/25/2021, Tr. Knight obtained a search warrant for medical records for William Peters who crashed his vehicle in Otisfield on May 8. The records indicated William was under the influence of alcohol at that time. Tr. Knight obtained an arrest warrant for William for OUI, Driving to Endanger and three counts of VCR. William has since been arrested on that warrant.

On 05/28/2021 Tr. Lemieux was traveling south on I-295 in Portland. Traffic was very heavy at this time. Tr. Lemieux noticed a Jeep quickly approaching from the rear. Tr. Lemieux locked the speed of the vehicle at 85mph (posted 50mph zone). Tr. Lemieux conducted a motor vehicle stop and identified the driver as Seth Miller of South Portland. Miller was cited appropriately.

On 05/29/2021, Tr. Lemieux made contact with three drivers that were speeding on I-95. The first a 17-year old male from Massachusetts was traveling at 111 mph. In York, Tr. Lemieux stopped an 18-year old male from Massachusetts that was traveling at 104 mph. The third was a 19-year old male from Sanford traveling 100 mph. All drivers were cited appropriately. The posted speed limit on I-95 is 70 mph.

On 05/30/2021, Trooper Pyburn stopped DAKOTAH BAILEY on Old County Road in the town of West Paris. BAILEY was observed operating an ATV a high rate of speed on Route 219, after passing Trooper Pyburn. BAILEY briefly attempted to evade Trooper Pyburn, turning onto several private and posted roads, before eventually stopping. Warden Smith responded to the scene to assist and BAILEY was summonsed accordingly.

On 05/18/2021, Massachusetts State Police had a vehicle crash in which the Operator fled on foot. The vehicle’s registration came back to a Sumner address. Troopers conducted interviews with the previous owner, Dolsie Bragg. Bragg had sold the vehicle in question to her boyfriend’s nephew Diego Martinez out of Sabattus. The family assisted in giving some locations in Mass that Martinez may go to. Martinez had multiple warrants at the time. Information about him was relayed to Mass SP to alert them on his most recent activity and escalation in Maine. He was successfully located and arrested in Mass.

On 5/29/2021 and 5/31/21, Troopers Watson and Willard conducted a directed patrol in the area of County Road in the town of Turner and other surrounding roads including Route 4 and Snell Hill Road. There has been recent intel suggesting of increased traffic and possible drug activity. In the span of two days Troopers contacted 29 vehicles resulting in 3 VSAC’s and 1 USAC’s being issued. Four vehicle searches were conducted resulting in paraphernalia and small amount of drugs. The information stems from recent traffic stops Trooper Watson had in the same area resulting in drug seizures.

On 05/30/2021, Tr. Watson stopped a vehicle with an expired registration in Turner. The operator, Eric Merrill admitted the plates were false attached and he was suspended. The plates were pulled, and he was charged accordingly.

On 05/30/2021, Tr. Watson stopped a vehicle with a loud exhaust in Turner. The operator, Nathan Howard showed a suspended status. The vehicle was parked. Charges are pending based on follow-up with Howard.

On 05/29/2021, Tr. Lemieux was working a minimum shift on Troop G. At this time, Tr. Lemieux was posted in a cross over in York on I-95. Tr. Lemieux saw a vehicle quickly approaching from the rear. He saw on radar the vehicle was traveling 94mph. Tr. Lemieux stopped the

vehicle and identified the driver as Vincent Visconti of North Andover MA. VISCONTI had an expired/suspended license out of Massachusetts. The vehicle was towed, and VISCONTI was cited appropriately.

On 05/29/2021, Tr. Knight stopped a vehicle in Bridgton for no front plate and expired inspection sticker. The operator, Zachary Laney of Bridgton, was found to have a suspended license. The vehicle was not registered, and Zachary admitted to having no insurance on it. Zachary was summonsed accordingly and issued multiple VSACs.

On 05/26/2021, Kyle Leblanc (30 of Brunswick) passed Tr. James in the right-hand lane of I295. Upon making contact with Kyle, it was also determined his registration was suspended due to toll violations. Leblanc was charged accordingly on all charges.

On 05/30/2021, Tr. James responded to a two-vehicle crash on I295 in Brunswick. One of the vehicles involved had a previous driving complaint made on it south of Freeport. The driver of that vehicle, David James (35 of Dresden), stated he was very tired and found himself not remembering much of the drive from Portland. Tr. James could smell the odor of alcohol coming from David. He was brought to Topsham PD for a breathalyzer test and was charged with Driving to Endanger.

On 05/30/2021, Tr. Watson stopped a vehicle with a suspended registration in Turner. The operator, Heather McEwen was also suspended and on probation. McEwen claimed to have driven from Windham to Bretton’s with her passenger, Nathaniel Rines for food. A search was conducted, and the vehicle was towed away. McEwen was charged accordingly.

Troop B Weekly Report 05/17/2021 - 05/23/2021

05/21/2021, at approximately 1900 hours, Spec. Allen came across a tractor trailer crashed into the woods. The driver of the vehicle was hauling a load of lumber to Massachusetts. Several people stopped and helped the driver get out of the truck as it sustained heavy damage. The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. Troop K was dispatched to the scene. Tr. Lemieux from Troop B assisted.

On 05/18/2021, Tr. Watson noticed a suspicious vehicle behind Canton Variety. A registration inquiry revealed the plates were false attached. After speaking with the driver, Adrienne Young (39) it was determined she was suspended and had a warrant for failure to appear. She was arrested and brought to Rumford PD to meet with the bail commissioner without incident. Tr. Willard assisted with the investigation.

On 05/18/2021, Tr. Watson stopped a vehicle with no inspection sticker on the Howes Corner Rd in Turner. The operator, Skyler Green (26) out of Texas admitted to not having a license. The passenger and RO, Shlina Catrett (28) had a valid license. Catrett was advised she could not permit him to drive anymore. Green was charged accordingly.

On 05/19/2021, Tr. Watson stopped a vehicle with no license plate in Livermore. The driver, Carl Oldham (08/30/1966) had multiple felony warrants from 2015 and a revoked license. Oldham admitted he left for Vegas and returned thinking the warrants would be gone. He was arrested and transported to jail without incident.

On 05/21/21, Members of section one responded to 25 Vickerson Drive in the town of New Gloucester to investigate a domestic disturbance where a 34 YO female had reported being assaulted and restrained by her 30 YO boyfriend. Upon arrival, Troopers determined there was evidence of an assault and initial attempts to raise the male suspect from his residence at 22 Shaw Road were unsuccessful. A perimeter was established, with the assistance of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department, and Trooper Jamo negotiated with the male for over an hour until he finally agreed to comply. Trooper Jamo arrested ETHAN D. PETERS for felony domestic assault (prior) and criminal threatening and transported him to the Cumberland County Jail.

On 05/20/2021,Tr. Watson noticed a gold Cadillac CTS with an expired inspection sticker at the Red Roof in Leeds. The plates were also false attached. Kayla O’Brien (29) exited the store and immediately admitted she knew she could not be driving and knew the plates did not belong on the vehicle. Steven Gray (30) was also with the vehicle. A bail check was completed. O’Brien was charged accordingly.

On 5/24/2021, Tr. Knight stopped to check on a disabled vehicle on Rt. 26 in Woodstock. The passenger, Joshua Spencer of W. Paris, return indicated he had an active warrant for FTA for felony OAR. Joshua was arrested on the warrant without incident.

Troop B Weekly Report 05/10/21-05/16/21

On 05/14/2021, Troopers James and Stewart responded to a tractor trailer unit at mile 16 south in Yarmouth which was dumping diesel fuel into the roadway. The driver, Leonardo Machado of Massachusetts, stated he ran over something at mile 17 which punctured his fuel tank. Maine DEP, DOT and Yarmouth Fire also assisted in the fuel clean-up. The travel lane was closed for several hours during the morning commute.

Maine State Police arrest St. Albans man on multiple charges after driving through I-295 Construction Zone. On Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at approximately 10pm Sergeant Christopher Farley was stationed in his cruiser at Exit 5 in Portland on Interstate 295. The lane was closed due to construction. Sgt. Farley, with his blue lights activated, observed a vehicle drive past him and attempt to take the exit that was closed. The vehicle drove around the cones that were blocking the exit. A construction worker was in the area as the vehicle turned into the lane closure and started down the exit where additional crew members were working. Sgt. Farley was able to stop the vehicle before the driver reaching the workers. Fortunately, no one was injured. After a brief investigation, it was determined the driver, Joseph Simonet (36) of St. Albans, was driving under the influence. He was arrested and charged with Operating Under the Influence, Driving to Endanger, and other civil traffic violations. He was transported to the South Portland Police Department and was released on bail. Due to the inherent dangers of work zones, law enforcement officers are often utilized in construction zones to deter risky or unsafe driving and keep workers and the public safe. Maine State Police would like to remind the public to slow down and use caution in construction zones.

On 04/27/2021, Trooper Nadeau stopped Blake Sandelin (39), on Route 202 in Greene for speed and erratic operation. Blake was found to be impaired and had several empty twisted teas from a cold six pack. Blake was out on bail and could not consume or possess alcohol. Blake was arrested for OUI, Felony VCR and Driving to Endanger. Once at the jail Blake refused to cooperate with COVID guidelines for the intox. Blake refused Intoxilyzer.

On 05/16/2021, Trooper Pyburn and Corporal Russell responded to Western Ave in Paris, for a report of a disturbance and possible DV incident. Troopers arrived on scene first and made contact with ANNA and JAMES PIERCE. During the course of the investigation it was determined both parties were heavily intoxicated. JAMES was extremely disorderly and uncooperative. While Trooper Pyburn attempted to conduct a pat down of JAMES for weapons, a comment was made about a knife and JAMES began reaching for what Trooper Pyburn believed to be a weapon. An altercation ensued and JAMES was eventually placed into handcuffs. A knife was located on his person. While this was occurring, a 14-year old juvenile on scene began assaulting the Paris and Oxford Officers. The juvenile was subsequently detained. JAMES was transported to the Oxford County Jail where he was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Failure to Submit to Arrest.

On 05/12/2021, Trooper Watson stopped a vehicle with multiple defects on the Canton Point Rd. in Dixfield. The driver, Thomas Gilbert (51) was determined to be revoked. He was charged accordingly.

On 05/12/2021, Trooper Watson stopped a vehicle with no inspection sticker and multiple defects on Rt. 108 in Peru. The operator, Heather Finnegan had a warrant for failure to appear and was also suspended. The passenger, Henry Ross had a significant history with drugs. A consent search in the vehicle yielded nothing criminal. It was noted that Ross’ prescription bottles were in the driver’s door panel. He most likely was driving when the couple had prior stopped at a convenience store to swap. Ross does not have a license and is most likely driving the vehicle around; a 2005 white Chevy 1500 (ME PC 859XT). Finnegan was arrested and transported to Rumford PD without incident. She was charged accordingly.

On 05/12/2021, Trooper Watson saw a vehicle with multiple defects traveling south on Rt 26 near the Post Office. Tr. Watson started to catch up to the vehicle and briefly lost sight of it. It was then observed that it had made a quick right turn before the Hub and the driver was fleeing on foot. The driver, Michael Walker (44) attempted to skirt along a fence that abutted the inlet for the nearby pond. He ended up falling in and completely submerged himself. Tr. Watson helped him out then took him into custody. He was given a space blanket and some handwarmers until rescue arrived. The vehicle was towed, and Walker was charged accordingly for the incident.

On 05/12/2021, Troopers responded to the Mallard Mart in West Paris. Oxford County advised their Deputy on scene had out of control subjects that were in a stolen motor vehicle. Once on scene, officers were able to de-escalate the situation. subsequent interviews were conducted. One of the subjects, Hannah Hairstrom (19) was determined to have a warrant. Two individuals were charged for the theft of the motor vehicle and arrested on outstanding warrants. Troopers assisted with transport to the Oxford County Jail without incident.

On 5/13/2021, Trooper Willard stopped ME PC 7304XZ for a vehicle defect along Route 108 in Canton. The operator Ray Henriksen of Rhode Island was operating on a suspended driver’s license. He was charged accordingly.

On 05/12/2021, Trooper Lemieux was traveling south on I-95 in Gray. At this time, he observed a Nissan quickly approaching from the rear. Tr. Lemieux saw the vehicle was traveling 109mph. The involved vehicle passed Tr. Lemieux in lane one. The vehicle was stopped, and the driver was identified as Jason Purington of Mechanic Falls. Purington noted he was late for an appointment. Purington was cited appropriately.

Troop B Weekly Report 04/26/2021-05/02/2021

04/27 - The US Secret Service informed MSP Honor Guard that they had a line of duty death of a uniformed officer on the property of President Bush in Kennebunkport. They requested assistance immediately for Honorable Transfers of their fallen officer. The Secret Service also requested assistance in the planning and execution of a Level 1 Wake and Funeral Service for fallen Officer Keith Mills. Officer Mills was originally from Kennebunkport. On 05/01/2021 a Level 1 funeral was conducted in conjunction with USSS HG, MSP Motor Unit, NHSP Honor Guard Troopers, NH pipes and Drums, Portsmouth NH HG, Troop A, and Troop B Troopers. MSP motors and Troop A and B conducted an Honorable procession with family members along a route that included a stop a Walkers Point. Upon completion they escorted the fallen officer and family to the Laurel Hill Cemetery in the city of Saco.

On 04/29/2021, Tr. James responded to a roll-over crash on I295 in Brunswick. Both the female operator, and her passenger were transported to Maine General with minor injuries. The driver hydroplaned in the rain and hit the guardrail on the left of the highway. She overcorrected and the vehicle rolled and landed upright of to the right shoulder.

On 04/30/21, Troopers Knight and Stewart responded to Otisfield for a female who was potentially harming herself. Upon arriving, it was eventually determined the female was not a danger to herself; however, it was learned that assaults between the female and her husband had taken place the day and night prior. After a lengthy investigation, it was determined the female was the predominant aggressor and she was subsequently arrested for DV assault.

On 4/21/2021 Trooper’s Knight and Harrington travelled to CMCC to assist Trooper Willard with a scenario driven Police Operations Course for Criminal Justice students. This was the final class of the semester and many of the students are currently in hiring processes. The Troopers were able to also have a talk with the students after and answer any law enforcement questions. Troopers Harrington and Knight are pictured with the students.

On 04/23/21, Tr. Knight conducted a MV stop on Rt. 26 in W. Paris after running the plates and the vehicle not matching what was on file. The operator could not produce a license and was found to be suspended. The rear passenger, Quentin Kelley of Mexico, had an active warrant for DV Terrorizing and Terrorizing. The operator was summonsed for OAS and Kelley was arrested on the warrant. The vehicle had recently been registered and the plates were confirmed to be valid.

On 04/24/21, Corporal Casey stopped a vehicle for speeding at 117 mph in a legal 55mph zone. Upon investigation, the operator was found to be in possession of liquor. He was subsequently charged with Criminal Speed and Illegal Transportation of Liquor by a Minor.

On 04/24/2021, Trooper Pyburn and Corporal Russell assisted Paris PD locating and arresting Sean Meehan, after a reported aggravated DV assault in the town of Paris. Meehan, who is on probation for DV, had previously left the scene and was reported to be acting extremely erratic. He was located at his residence on Buckfield Road in Paris and taken into custody without incident.

On 04/21/21, Tr. Lemieux conducted a motor vehicle stop on I-295 in Cumberland for an expired registration. Tr. Lemieux made contact with the driver who was identified as Kalila Abssi (32) who provided a Maine identification card only. ABSSI was cited appropriately and the vehicle was towed.

On 04/23/21, Tr. Lemieux conducted a motor vehicle stop on Runaround Pond Road in Durham. The driver was identified as Ashley North (30) of Lisbon. Her Maine driver’s license was suspended. She was cited appropriately.

On 04/21/21, Tr. Lemieux was traveling south on Rt. 1 in Falmouth. A U-Haul was traveling North on Rt. 1 with only the marker lights on. Tr. Lemieux turned around and caught up with the vehicle and saw the driver throw a cigarette out the window. Tr. Lemieux conducted a motor vehicle stop. He made contact with the driver (later identified as Stefan Hamilton 32 of Yarmouth). During Tr. Lemieux interaction with HAMILTON, he was using his shoulder to cover his face. HAMILTON provided his girlfriend’s name and date of birth. Further investigation found HAMILTON had four active arrest warrants, a revoked driver license and bail conditions. HAMILTON later confirmed his name. HAMILTON was placed under arrest and transported to York County Jail.

On 04/22/21, Tr. Lemieux was traveling north on Rt. 136 in Durham. Near the intersection of Old Brunswick Road and Rt. 136. He saw a gray Toyota traveling south on Rt. 136 at a speed much greater than the posted speed limit of 50mph. Tr. Lemieux locked the speed of the vehicle at 77mph. Tr. Lemieux turned around and activated the police cruisers emergency blue lights and siren. Tr. Lemieux was having a difficult time catching up with the vehicle. At one-point Tr. Lemieux saw the vehicle from a distance. On radar the vehicle was traveling 86mph. Tr. Lemieux caught up with the vehicle on Rt. 136 near Chickadee Lane. The vehicle remained traveling 72-80mph while behind the driver. The vehicle then passed another vehicle on Rt. 136 with approaching traffic. The vehicle finally pulled over near the Freeport line. A high-risk motor vehicle stop was conducted. The driver and passenger were detained. The driver was identified as Alexander Osorio-Beliveau (20) of Auburn. BELIVEAU said he did not see Tr. Lemieux behind him. BELIVEAU noted he was rocking out to music. BELIVEAU was issued a USAC for criminal speed. Freeport Officer Rice assisted.

On 4/24/2021 Trooper Willard stopped a black Ford Taurus sedan for operating without lights after dark. The operator Jonte Chisholm (20) of Lewiston was found to be operating without a license. The passenger did not hold a valid license either. Jonte’s mother was called and she was brought down to provide a ride for Jonte and the passenger.

On 04/17/21, Tr. Lemieux conducted a motor vehicle stop at the Maine Mall for an expired inspection. The passenger in the vehicle was identified as Thomas Potter (34) of Kittery. He was on a set of bail conditions not to have direct or indirect contact with the driver. POTTER was on bail for domestic assault with priors. POTTER was placed under arrest. During search incident to arrest Tr. Phillips located a small amount of suspected meth in POTTERS pocket.

On 4/12/21, Tr. Watson stopped a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker on the Merrill Rd. in Lewiston. The driver, Joshua Stevens (32) had recently finished his sentence in Warren for drug trafficking. The passenger identified himself as Jeremy Sutton (34). Sutton had a class B- Burglary Warrant from Lewiston as well as a Probation Revocation. He was placed under arrest without incident. A search of the vehicle did not yield any additional charges. Sutton was transported to the Androscoggin County Jail without incident.

On 04/14/21, Tr. Watson stopped a vehicle on Maguire Hill Rd. in Poland with no inspection sticker. The driver, Brett Cossar (30) was on bail for an OUI and his license was suspended. A bail check was conducted which yielded nothing further. The passenger, Heath Whitman (23) was licensed and drove the vehicle off. Cossar was charged accordingly.

On 04/15/21, Tr. Watson stopped a vehicle in Woodstock with no inspection sticker and multiple defects. The driver, Joshua Roman (39) had a suspended license out of North Carolina. The vehicle’s registration was also suspended. Roman had also been stopped the week prior by Cpl. Russell for the same violations. He was charged accordingly.

On 04/09/2021, Tr. Nadeau stopped Richard “Buddy” Edwards of Greene for Criminal speed. Richard was traveling 80mph in a 50mph zone. Tr. Nadeau issued Richard a VSAC for speed.

On 04/12/21, Tr. Watson stopped a vehicle with multiple defects on the College Rd in Greene. The registration ended up being suspended. The driver, Dustin Wilson (20) was charged accordingly.

On 04/13/21, Tr. James stopped Alec Miller (37 of Brunswick) for an inspection violation. Miller’s license was found to be under suspension for failure to pay fine. He was charged accordingly and released to a licensed driver.

On 04/08/2021, Tr. James responded to a tractor trailer roll-over on the Falmouth Spur during the early morning hours. The driver of the truck was transported to Maine Med with minor injuries and said he was unsure of what happened. The trailer was loaded with frozen hash browns and the spur was closed for several hours during the morning commute. Commercial vehicles units also responded to the scene.

On 4/6/2021 at 2126 hours, Trooper Willard was observing traffic around Alfred A. Plourde Parkway and exit 80 in Lewiston. His attention was drawn to an older style Chevrolet Suburban, as the operator was not wearing her seatbelt and the vehicle had a defect. Trooper Willard contacted the female operator who stated they were taking a “ride” to Bangor. Two male passengers were identified. While speaking with Trooper Willard, the female driver granted consent to search the vehicle. The female driver retrieved her nine-month-old baby from the vehicle, one of the male passengers informed Trooper Willard that the other male passenger, who had been sitting in the right rear seat had slipped a firearm out into the back of the SUV. Trooper Willard requested back up units to the scene. Once back up had arrived, a search of the vehicle commenced. A .45 caliber Springfield semi-automatic pistol was located jammed between two boxes in the right rear trunk area of the vehicle, behind where one of the male passengers had been sitting. The firearm had no round in the chamber but did have four bullets in the magazine. The male passenger was placed under arrest and charged with felon in possession of a firearm.

On 4/11/2021 at 2257 hours, Trooper Willard observed a gray Toyota RAV4 traveling north on 295 in the area of mile 13. The vehicle displayed FL PC 5WCF50, and was registered to Enterprise. The vehicle was by itself and operating at around 55 mph in the posted 65. Trooper Willard began following that vehicle as it exited at mile 15 in Yarmouth. Trooper Willard eventually stopped the vehicle on Main Street in Yarmouth for a speed infraction. The vehicle was being operated by a Omaid Shir who was on probation for trafficking. A search of the vehicle ensued and led to the discovery of around 20.7 grams of what appeared to be crack cocaine. The product was found inside the windshield washer fluid cap area underneath the hood of the vehicle. Also found in the vehicle was $2540. The operator Omaid Shir was placed on a probation hold and charged with Unlawful Trafficking of Scheduled W drug.

On 04/06/21 Tr James received a traffic complaint on I295 in the Freeport area on a silver Chevy pickup truck being all over the road. Tr James was able to observe the erratic operation and make the traffic stop in Topsham. Scott NEWCOMB (64 of South Gardiner) had admitted to drinking vodka around 1 pm. NEWCOMB was arrested and transported to Topsham PD for a breathalyzer test. NEWCOMB’s vehicle was towed and he was charged accordingly of Operating Under the Influence.

On 04/09/21 Warden Lounder initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in New Gloucester for erratic operation. The vehicle failed to stop and continued to evade Warden Lounder, reaching criminal speed. Trp. Phillips was just behind Warden Lounder and was able to assist him in apprehending the subject once he finally came to a stop on his own accord. The suspect was taken into custody w/o incident.

On 04/12/21 Tr. Lemieux was traveling north on Rt. 125 in Durham. He saw a red Chevrolet traveling south on Rt. 125 at a speed greater than the posted speed limit of 45mph. Tr. Lemieux locked the speed at 66mph. Tr. Lemieux turned around and activated the police cruisers emergency blue lights and siren. The truck remained at a speed of 66mph. Tr. Lemieux lost sight of the vehicle after cresting a hill. Tr. Lemieux turned down Puritan Road in Durham (dead end) where he met the truck turning around. Tr. Lemieux flagged down the driver. The driver rolled down the window and asked what he was being pulled over for. Tr. Lemieux advised him for speeding. He said there was no Durham police and I have no jurisdiction. Tr. Lemieux quickly informed him; he was a State Trooper. The driver continued to yell and slowly move forward, Tr. Lemieux ordered him to stop. The driver was removed from the vehicle and was identified as Keith Bouchard. BOUCHARD was on bail for disorderly conduct and terrorizing. BOUCHARD quickly calmed down. He was issued a summons for speed.

On 4/10/2021 Trooper Willard was clearing a traffic stop at 3 NB 295, when he observed a black Jeep Liberty pass his location traveling north. The vehicle appeared to have a loud exhaust. As Trooper Willard attempted to catch the vehicle, it exited at 5A. Trooper Willard continued north on 295, but observed the vehicle continue past 5A and merge back onto 295. Trooper Willard pulled to the shoulder and let the Jeep pass once again. As Trooper Willard pulled in behind the Jeep it once again exited 295, this time onto exit 6B. A routine query of the registration was conducted, and it showed it belonged to a Kayla Clifford of Bridgton. A traffic stop was initiated once the vehicle turned onto Forrest Ave. Trooper Willard found the vehicle to be operated by a John Berry of Casco. A search of the vehicle was conducted per one set of conditions and a container of Fireball Whiskey was located. The vehicle was towed, and John was charged with OAR (Class C) and VCR.

On 4/6/21 Cpl. Russell and Tr. Pyburn responded to a residence in Woodstock to attempt to Locate Erica Myers and Alex Ojeda. Myers had an active arrest warrant for failure to appear and both subjects were on bail conditions. Both subjects were located, and Myers was arrested on the outstanding warrant.

On 4/7/21 Cpl. Russell and Tr. Pyburn responded to a residence on Crystal Ledge road in Paris to attempt to located Joseph Fitts who had an active arrest warrant for a bail violation stemming from an underlying case of drug trafficking. Fitts was located and arrested at the residence.

On 04/10/21 Tr. Lemieux was traveling south on Rt. 125 in Freeport. At this time, he observed a vehicle traveling North on Rt. 125 traveling 55mph in a posted 40mph. Tr. Lemieux turned around in attempt to catch up with the vehicle. It took several miles to catch up with the vehicle. At one point, Tr. Lemieux locked the speed of the vehicle at 72mph in a posted 40mph zone on Rt. 136. The involved vehicle pulled over at the Freeport/Durham town line. Tr. Lemieux identified the driver as Dakota Ballard (24) of Yarmouth. BALLARD had a suspended license and two sets of bail conditions. BALLARD was placed under arrest and the vehicle was towed. Freeport PD assisted with the stop.
