    07-27-22

    Corporal Blaine Silk stopped a vehicle operated by Alexander Lawrence (31) of Franklin for a vehicle defect on Route 1 in Ellsworth. Alexander has a suspended driver's license for OUI and is currently on bail with conditions not to possess alcohol. Alcohol was visible in the vehicle. Alexander was arrested and charged with Operating After Suspension and Violating Conditions of Release.

    07-28-22

    Trooper Kim Sawyer summonsed Nicole Merritt (39) of Lambert Lake for Theft by Unauthorized Taking, Class C after a lengthy investigation for financial exploitation, an interview with Trooper Josh Lander and Trooper Kim Sawyer and a polygraph with Detective Ben Sweeney.

    As a result of a traffic stop in Blue Hill, Corporal Owen Reed charged Christopher Parks (56) with Operating After Suspension-Infraction.

    07-30-22

    Trooper Kim Sawyer responded to a motor vehicle accident on the Woodland Road.in Princeton. Mark Olsson (56) of Barring Plantation was summoned for Operating Under the Influence-Drugs, Violating Conditions of Release, Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle and a traffic offense summons for Failure to Provide Evidence of Insurance.

    Corporal Blaine Silk received a complaint of threatening Arthur Taylor (62) of Addison was arrested for Terrorizing after sending explicit threats. The incident occurred in Milbridge.

    As a result of a call for a welfare check Corporal Owen Reed arrested Daniel Bergin (42) of Blue Hill for Possession of Firearms by Felon after a search warrant was drafted and his home was search, resulting in the recovery of four firearms. The Hancock County Sheriff’s office assisted on scene.

    07-31-22

    Trooper Travis Chapman and Corporal Owen Reed responded to a residence in Sedgwick where it was reported that Travis Ruggiero (33) of Sedgwick was causing damage to a residence. Investigation revealed that Travis had done damage to the residence and made threats to burn it down. Travis was arrested and charged with criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and terrorizing.

    Trooper Travis Chapman responded to Blue Hill for a report of an individual sleeping behind a building. Investigation revealed that the male identified as Martin Hipsky (54) of Ohio had been drinking and possessed alcohol. Martin had bail conditions from a previous OUI arrest and was not allowed to possess or consume alcohol. Trooper Chapman summonsed Martin for violating conditions of release.

    Trooper Steven Mahon arrested Austin Britton (19) of Sullivan, for Criminal Speed after a traffic stop in Sullivan.  100 mph in a 45mph zone

    Trooper Steven Mahon responded to a threatening complaint in Hancock where it was found that Christopher Nicoll (57) of Pennsylvania, had pointed a firearm at several people after a confrontation.  Nicoll was arrested for Reckless Conduct with a Dangerous Weapon.  Hancock Sheriff Office assisted.

  • Troop F Weekly Report 07-24 to 07-31-22

    Brief Synopsis:       Cpl. Quint and Tr. Castonguay responded to an address in Masardis.  It was reported a man was intoxicated, walking to his neighbors, and throwing items into their yard and attempting to peek in their windows.  The Troopers located the man, and he stated the people were encroaching on his property and he was upset at them.  He has not had his property surveyed and said it was his neighbor’s responsibility.  The victim did not want to pursue the issue beyond a trespass warning, which he was issued without incident.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier was driving through Caribou and observed a vehicle with a defective headlight.  Tr. Desrosier stopped the vehicle and after an investigation found the vehicles registration was suspended registration for evasion of tolls.  The driver also had a warrant for his arrest for OAS.  The man said he took care of the warrant and stated he would call the court.  He was issued a criminal summons for operating with a suspended registration.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Martin responded to the report of a possible crash in Woodland. A male had called in reporting that he heard a loud bang outside his house. The male thought that a vehicle had gone off the road. Tr. Martin found a vehicle in the ditch and located a female that appeared to be passed out behind the wheel. Tr. Martin had EMS respond because the woman was complaining of a lot of pain. The female was taken by ambulance to the hospital. Tr. Martin, while speaking to the female could smell the odor of an intoxicating beverage coming from her person. Tr. Martin also located numerous beer cans in the vehicle. Based on the evidence, Tr. Martin asked the female to consent to a blood draw. The female consented and the blood was drawn. The female was charged with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol. 


  • Troop G Weekly Report - 07/25/2022 - 07/31/2022

    On 07/26/2022, Cpl. Cote stopped Shane Pero (43) of Springvale on the ME Turnpike northbound in Saco.  His ME Driver’s License was found to be suspended.  He was charged with Operating after Suspension and Possession of a Suspended License.  His vehicle was towed away.

    On 07/27/2022, Cpl. Cote stopped Jakob Richard (18) of Portland on the ME Turnpike northbound in Litchfield for traveling 104 mph in a posted 70 mph zone.  He was charged with Criminal Speed.

    On 07/27/2022, Cpl. Cote stopped Darnell Coolidge (57) of Litchfield on Alfred Plourde Parkway just off Exit 80 in Lewiston.  Her ME Driver’s License was found to be suspended (x9) and her vehicle was unregistered.  She was charged with Operating after Suspension and Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle on a Public Way.  Her vehicle was towed away.

    On 07/27/2022, Cpl. Cote stopped Ashley Fisher (37) of Auburn in the ME Turnpike Park and Ride at Exit 80 in Lewiston.  Her registration was found to be suspended and she had an active warrant out of Androscoggin County.  Her vehicle was towed away and she was arrested on the warrant.  She was taken to the Androscoggin County Jail.

    On 07/27/2022, Tr. Ellis stopped Felix Kaminski (22) of Massachusetts for criminal speeding 100/70 on the ME turnpike southbound in Gray. He was summonsed for the speed.

    On 07/29/2022, Cpl. Cote stopped Lodia Ismael (24) of Portland on the ME Turnpike northbound in Portland.  Her ME Driver’s License was found to be suspended.  She was charged with Operating after Suspension.  Her vehicle was towed away.

    On 07/31/2022, Tr. Bourdelais responded to a single vehicle crash on the Maine Turnpike in Scarborough for a vehicle into the guardrail. The operator was identified as Michael Lemieux of Dayton.  Upon further investigation, Lemieux appeared to be under the influence.  He was put through field sobriety tests and subsequently arrested.  The vehicle was towed and the operator was taken to a local police department where he was administered an intoxilyzer test.  The results were over the legal limit.  He was charged accordingly.

    On 07/31/2022, Tr. Ellis responded to a single vehicle crash at mile marker (MM) 43 on the ME turnpike southbound in Scarborough. The operator, identified as Michael Ramsay (40) of Arundel, was charged with driving to endanger based on the crash investigation. His vehicle was towed away.

    On 07/31/2022, Tr. Ellis responded to numerous reports of a high-speed, erratic operator southbound on the ME turnpike in Kennebunk. York and Kittery PD assisted in stopping Brandon Spinosa (30) of Massachusetts. He was charged with driving to endanger. His vehicle was towed away.

    On 07/31/2022, Tr. Phillips stopped to assist a disabled Freightliner M2 Moving Truck on the ME turnpike southbound in South Portland. Numerous juvenile occupants were seen leaving the truck on foot as he arrived. Tr. Phillips and Cpl. Cote located them and determined that no one was licensed to drive the truck. Tr. Ellis and Tr. Flynn (Troop K) responded and conducted a commercial motor vehicle inspection. The truck was found to have defective brakes, tires, windshield wipers, and air supply, and lacked a valid inspection. The truck was towed and placed out of service.

  • SILVER ALERT - Located Safely

    The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office has issued a Silver Alert for 26-year-old Bret Libby of Long A Township who was last seen Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at 12:00 am. He is a white male, 5’09”, 172 lbs. with brown hair and blue eyes.   Libby has been in crisis for at least the last two days. He was last seen walking into the woods off of Jo Mary Road around 12:00 am. Libby was not wearing clothing at the time.  If anyone sees Libby please do not approach him. Call 911 or the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office at 207.945.4636.

    The Damariscotta Police Department have issued a Silver Alert for Ronald Slicer, 88, of Damariscotta. Mr. Slicer is described as a white male, 5’11”, 184 lbs., with gray hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen around 9 a.m. at his residence on Aug. 3, 2022 and may be driving a silver Chevy Trax with license plate 1856XU. Authorities say that his credit card was used in Belfast on Aug. 4 around 11:50 a.m. Mr. Slicer has dementia. Anyone who sees him or has any information should call 911 or the Damariscotta Police Department at 207-563-3200.

    The Cape Elizabeth Police Department has issued a Silver Alert for 73-year-old Mark Hagen who was last seen Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 3:00 pm when he left his home on Breakwater Farm Rd. in Cape Elizabeth. He is a white male, 5’11”, 172 lbs. with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a pink shirt and gray pants.   • Maine State Police Make Arrest in Mexico Homicide

    On Saturday, August 6, 2022, shortly before 1:00 pm, the Mexico Police Department responded to a home at 32 Intervale Avenue in Mexico after a 911 call was received indicating there had been a shooting in the home.  Officers from Mexico and Rumford PD as well as two ambulances from Med-Care Ambulance arrived to find 27-year-old Nicholas Trynor of Mexico deceased.  Maine State Police Major Crime Unit Detectives were called in to assist in the investigation and worked throughout the night and throughout the day Sunday gathering statements and evidence.

    On Sunday, August 7, 2022, 52-year-old Thomas Tellier of Mexico was arrested for the shooting death of his stepson Nicholas Trynor in their Intervale Avenue home in Mexico.  Tellier was arrested in Mexico and was transported to the Oxford County Jail on the charge of Murder. Tellier will be arraigned later this week in Oxford County Superior Court.
     

  • Det. Greg Roy Promoted to Sergeant in Specialty Teams Unit

    Sgt Greg RoyMajor Crimes Unit - North Detective Greg Roy was recently promoted to Sergeant in the Specialty Teams Unit as the Tactical Team Commander.  Det. Roy is a 13-year veteran who began service in Troop J before being promoted to Detective in 2015.  He has been a member of the tactical team since 2012 and has served as the Commander since 2020. He was named Trooper of the Year for 2021, has been awarded the Maine State Police Award for Bravery, and was nominated for Trooper of the Troop in Troop J four times, has received the Maine State Police Colonel’s Award, and served as Cadre for the 67th Recruit Training Troop (RTT) at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.

  • Troop F Weekly Report 08-01 to 08-07-22

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier was conducting traffic enforcement in Van Buren when he observed a vehicle with numerous infractions.  The vehicle was stopped and during the investigation, it was determined the driver, a minor, was in possession of liquor.  The male was issued a juvenile summons for the violation and his parents were contacted to come get him and the vehicle.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier was conducting traffic enforcement in Van Buren when he stopped a vehicle for defective equipment.  During the traffic stop, it was discovered the driver was on bail for unrelated charges.  A bail check was conducted, and the man was found in violation due to liquor and drug paraphernalia.  The man was issued a criminal summons, was not impaired, and was released.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Rider was conducting traffic enforcement in Mapleton when he observed a vehicle with a broken windshield and no valid inspection certificate.  Tr. Rider conducted a traffic stop and after an investigation discovered the registration plates were illegally attached to the vehicle.  The plates were seized, and the driver was issued a criminal summons for the violation.  The vehicle was towed from the roadway and the man was given a ride by the wrecker service.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Castonguay participated in Littleton Fun Days at the agricultural museum in Littleton.  He showed his cruiser and some of his equipment to children and adults attending the event.

    Brief Synopsis:       Sgt. Fuller was driving in Houlton when he drove by a male, that he knew had a suspended license. Sgt. Fuller pulled the male over and wrote him a summons for OAS. The male has been charged for OAS four times in the past month by different Troopers. The vehicle the male was driving was not registered or inspected so Sgt. Fuller had the vehicle towed. The male was also given traffic tickets for the registration and inspection violations.

    Brief Synopsis:       Sgt. Fuller was driving through Houlton when he drove by a male, that he knew had a suspended license. Sgt. Fuller pulled the individual over. The male driver was given a summons for OAS.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Barnard received a call reference to some explosives. The Ashland Police Chief received a call from a resident reference to disposing of some blasting caps. Tr. Barnard responded to the individual’s residence and took possession of the blasting caps. Tr. Barnard took the blasting caps to a safe area and properly disposed of them.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Martin and Lt. Johnson were on an escort detail in Merrill. They were moving an oversized building that took up the entire roadway. While on their route they came across a vehicle that was on the side of the roadway. Tr. Martin walked up to the vehicle because it was blocking the way.. As Tr. Martin started speaking with the male, he could tell that the male appeared to be impaired. Tr. Martin put the male through field sobriety and at the conclusion of the test advised the male he was too impaired to be driving. Tr. Martin placed the male under arrest. Dep. Stewart Kennedy transported the male to the Aroostook County Jail for an intoxilyzer test so Tr. Martin could continue the escort. The was charged with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Merchant responded to the report of a stolen vehicle from Daaquam Mill in Masardis. It was reported that a female had taken a vehicle from the mill and was now doing doughnuts in the parking lot. While Tr. Merchant was responding the female crashed the truck into a ditch and was requesting an ambulance. The caller reported he thought the female was on meth. The female was transported to the Aroostook Medical Center. The female was medically cleared, and Tr. Merchant placed her under arrest. Tr. Merchant conducted a DRE evaluation on the female, and it appeared the female was impaired by drugs. Tr. Merchant charged the female with Unauthorized Use of Property, Criminal Mischief, Driving to Endanger, and Operating Under the Influence of Drugs. The female also had an active no bail warrant for her arrest. The female was transported to the Aroostook County Jail without incident.

    Brief Synopsis:       On 7/12, Tr. Roy began investigating a Sex Offender registration violation. The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) reported that a registered Sex Offender in Mars Hill had not complied with the required verification paperwork since 2017. Tr. Roy located the male and warned him on two separate occasions that SBI had not received his paperwork and he would be charged if he did not coordinate with SBI to resolve the issue. After several weeks and warnings from Tr. Roy and an SBI employee, Tr. Roy charged the 32-year-old Mars Hill man with a Class B Felony for Failing to Comply with the Sex Offender Registry. The man has 2 prior convictions for the same offense. He is scheduled to appear in the Presque Isle District Court in October.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Roy was conducting traffic enforcement in Presque Isle when he observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Tr. Roy activated his radar and determined the vehicle to be traveling 91 mph in the posted 55 mph speed zone. Tr. Roy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and summonsed the 50-year-old Woodland man for Criminal Speed. He is due to appear in Presque Isle District Court in October.

    Town:                        Smyrna

    Trooper:                   Tr. Cotton

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Cotton was conducting traffic enforcement in Smyrna when he observed an unregistered ATV operating on the public way. Tr. Cotton conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the male operator, who initially provided a false name. Tr. Cotton identified the male and learned his driver’s license was suspended, and he had 4 active arrest warrants. Additionally, the male had bail conditions that prohibited him from committing new criminal acts. Tr. Cotton charged the 41-year-old Smyrna man with Operating after Suspension and Violation of Condition of Release. He was transported to the Aroostook County jail and booked on the 4 outstanding arrest warrants.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Roy was conducting traffic enforcement in Caribou when he observed a vehicle not displaying an inspection sticker. Tr. Roy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and learned its registration had expired in September of 2021. Tr. Roy issued the male operator, a 37-year-old Limestone man, a criminal summons for Failure to Register Motor Vehicle > 150 Days. He was also cited for the inspection sticker violation. He is due to appear in Caribou District Court in October. 

  • Troop G Weekly Report - 08/01/2022 - 08/07/2022

    On 07/31/2022, Cpl. Sucy made contact with Nicole Brough (21) of Oxford and charged her with Misuse of Identification and Operating Without a License. This stemmed from a traffic stop on June 8th when Brough used her sister’s license as her own. Brough admitted to the crime once approached.

    On 08/02/2022, Cpl. Sucy charged Slade Meserve (16) of Norway for Operating Without a License. The vehicle was towed.

    On 08/03/2022, Cpl. Physic arrested James Belleau II for OUI.  James took an intoxilyzer test and blew over the legal limit.  Tpr. Murray assisted.

    On 08/04/2022, Cpl. Physic summonsed Dale Martel for Criminal Speed for going 91 mph in a 50-mph construction zone.

    On 08/05/2022, Tr. Foley responded to a traffic complaint originating at MM 13 NB on I-95. Tr. Foley located and stopped Daniel Gullicksen (34) for erratic operation. Gullicksen was found to be under the influence and ultimately arrested. A DRE screening on Gullicksen showed that he was under the influence of cannabis. Gullicksen was booked at York County Jail without incident.

    On 08/07/2022, Cpl. Sucy stopped Tyler Dias (27) of Lewiston at MM 40 SB on I-95. Dias was stopped for speed, and as a result of investigation, it was found he was operating on a suspended license. Dias was issued a summons for the OAS and the car was released with a licensed driver.  

    On 08/07/2022, Cpl. Cropper was using his LTI 20/20 TruVision laser at the Beech Ridge Rd overpass while northbound in Scarborough. A 17-year-old boy from Minot was recorded at 107 mph in the 70-mph zone. The young male was stopped at MM 43 and was summonsed for criminal speed.
