  • Troop F Weekly Report 01-30 to 02-05-23

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier was conducting traffic enforcement in Cyr Plantation and stopped a vehicle for speeding.  During his investigation, it was discovered the driver had a suspended driver’s license and a warrant for his arrest from York County for failing to appear in court on a separate OAS charge.  The man was arrested on the warrant and was able to post bail.  He was issued a criminal summons for OAS and a traffic summons for speeding.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier was driving through Presque Isle when he heard radio traffic from PIPD regarding a theft that just occurred at Walmart.  Three people were at Walmart, one stole an item, and they left in a vehicle.  Tr. Desrosier located the vehicle and held the occupants for PIPD.  The offender was brought back to Walmart by the PD and issued a summons for theft.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Roy was conducting traffic enforcement in Woodland when he observed a vehicle without a valid inspection certificate and did not have a front registration plate.  Tr. Roy initiated a traffic stop and after an investigation, he discovered the driver had a suspended Maine driver’s license and falsely attached the registration plates to the vehicle.  The vehicle also had several defects to include the exhaust and a broken windshield nor was the vehicle insured.  The driver was issued a criminal summons for OAS and attaching false plates.  Tr. Roy issued written warnings for the vehicle defects and the insurance violation.  The vehicle was towed from the roadway.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Roy was requested by the Training Unit to speak with Trooper Recruits on what to expect during the State Police Academy, how to be successful during their training, and answered general questions from the newly hired recruits.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Castonguay was conducting traffic enforcement in Stacyville when he met a vehicle criminally speeding.  After stopping the vehicle and conducting an investigation, it was found the driver had a suspended driver’s license.  The vehicle also was not inspected.  The driver was issued a warning for the inspection violation, a traffic summons for speeding, and a criminal summons for OAS.  The driver arranged to have a licensed driver get her and her vehicle.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Castonguay was driving through Houlton when he observed a man he knew had two warrants for his arrest.  Tr. Castonguay spoke with the man, helped him arrange to post bail, and brought him to the Troop F barracks to meet with a bail commissioner.  The warrants were for failing to appear in court on an OAS charge and a charge of burning prohibited material.

    Brief Synopsis:       Lt. Harris was driving through Mars Hill and heard the ambulance being dispatched to a residence for an elderly man that had fallen.  Lt. Harris arrived before the ambulance, was able to get the man off the floor and into a chair and stayed with him until EMS arrived.  The man was not injured.

    Brief Synopsis:       Cpl. Kilcollins was investigating a criminal mischief complaint in Masardis. Versant Power had made a complaint reference to a meter being tampered with on a residence in Masardis. Cpl. Kilcollins spoke with the male homeowner reference the complaint and charged him with criminal mischief for tampering with the meter.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Levesque was called to a residence in Castle Hill for a report of a burglary. The out-of-state owner’s neighbor reported the residence had been broken into. Several thousands of dollars’ worth of items had been stolen from the property including a tractor, dirt bike, and firearms. Tr. Levesque took possession of several firearms that were left at the residence which were later turned back over to the owner. INVESTIGATION IS ONGOING.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Saucier responded to a business in Patten for a trespass complaint. A local male, who has been trespassed from several area businesses, refused to leave the business after being asked to do so by employees. Tr. Saucier located the male at the business and arrested him for trespassing. 

  • Troop G Weekly Report - 01/30/2023 - 02/05/2023

    On 01/29/2023, Tr. Wilcox stopped Walter McCoy (28) of Manassas, VA on the ME turnpike southbound in Kennebunk. Tr. Wilcox observed signs of impairment and conducted Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. McCoy was arrested and charged with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol. McCoy also received a citation for possessing an open container of alcohol in his vehicle, which was later towed.

    On 02/01/2023, Tr. Ellis stopped Devin Fry (30) of Westbrook for operating with suspended registration on the ME turnpike northbound in Saco. His licensed was also found to be suspended. He was charged with Operating after Suspension. His vehicle was towed.

    On 02/02/2023, Cpl. Peckham stopped A Villalobos-Castro (47) of New York for erratic operation of a tractor trailer on the ME turnpike southbound in Auburn. Tr. Ellis responded to the stop and conducted a commercial inspection. Villalobos-Castro was found to have numerous violations, including falsifying his logbook. He was summonsed and placed out of service. Tr. Verhille assisted.

    On 02/02/2023, Tr. Wilcox stopped Joemil Baez Diaz (23) of Haverhill, MA on the ME turnpike southbound in Wells for criminal speed (103/70). Baez Diaz was found to be operating with a suspended permit. Baez Diaz was summonsed for Operating Without a License.

    On 02/03/2023, Cpl. Cote investigated a property damage rollover crash on the ME Turnpike southbound in Saco.  The operator involved was found to have a revoked license.  Christopher Babb (31) was charged with Operating after Habitual Offender Revocation.

    On 02/03/2023, Cpl. Cropper, with assistance from Sgt. Wilkinson and Troopers Reaser and MacKinnon, investigated a two-vehicle crash southbound on the Saco River Bridge. Nathan Kennedy (21) of Halifax, MA was ejected from his pickup truck. Kennedy sustained life-threatening injuries to both his head and torso and succumbed to his injuries after surgery at Maine Medical Center.

    On 02/04/2023, Sgt. Pappas, Cpl. Physic, Tr. Welch, and Tr. Foley responded to a rollover crash at mile marker 34 northbound on I-95. The operator of the vehicle, Molly McAuliffe (31), showed objective signs of intoxication. McAuliffe was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Tr. Foley charged McAuliffe with Operating Under the Influence.

  • SILVER ALERT  Graham Lacher

    The Bangor Police Department has issued a Silver Alert for 38-year-old Graham Lacher of Norridgewock who was last seen Monday, June 6, 2022 at approximately 4:40 p.m. running away from the Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center at 656 State Street in Bangor. Lacher was a voluntary patient but is now considered involuntary. A K9 track was attempted that ended in the area of Eastern Maine Community College.

    Lacher is a white male, 5’11”, 190 lbs. with brown hair and blue eyes. Lacher suffers from mental illness and tends to avoid people. He has long brown hair, a long beard, glasses and was last seen wearing a gray jacket and gray Carhartt pants.  

    Anyone who sees Graham Lacher or has information should call the Bangor Police Department at 207-942-8211 or their local law enforcement agency.

  • Troop F Weekly Report 02-06 to 02-12-23

    Town:                    monticello

    Trooper:                SGT. CLARK

    Brief Synopsis:      Sgt. Clark was driving on US Highway 1, Monticello, when a vehicle in front of him crashed into a snowbank.  Sgt. Clark stopped to check the driver and during his investigation discovered the man had a revoked driver’s license.  Sgt. Clark had the vehicle towed out of the snowbank and towed from the scene.  Sgt. Clark issued the man a criminal summons for operating after revocation.

    Brief Synopsis:      Cpl. Quint was conducting traffic enforcement in Monticello when he observed a pickup pass his stationary position at a high rate of speed.  The trucks speed was locked at 88 mph in a posted 55 mph zone.    The woman was also on bail for an unrelated offense.  Cpl. Quint issued her a traffic summons for speeding and she was also issued a traffic summons for not having current proof of insurance.

    Brief Synopsis:      Cpl. Quint responded to Interstate 95, Sherman, for a tractor trailer that had gone off the road.  The truck sustained damage and was towed from the roadway.  On February 11th, Cpl. Quint received a complaint of a box trailer blocking the roadway in Littleton.  The driver of the truck, unhappy with the tow bill, attempted to fix his truck and leave with the truck and the trailer.  He was seen by the wrecker owner and did not hook the trailer correctly which detached in the roadway.  The man was issued a criminal summons for the incident, a trespass notice from the property, and was taken to the Houlton truck stop to make arrangements with his company for transportation.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Castonguay was conducting traffic enforcement in Hodgdon when he observed a pickup with no taillights.  Tr. Castonguay stopped the truck and after an investigation he learned the man bought it from a private person in Houlton and was trying to drive it home.  The vehicle was not registered (since 2009), was not inspected, nor was it insured.  Tr. Castonguay had the vehicle towed from the roadway and issued the man a criminal summons for the unregistered vehicle.  The man was issued a written warning for the other violations.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Castonguay was driving on State Route 11, Stacyville, in his marked cruiser.  A vehicle came up behind him speeding and passed him at 86 mph in a posted 50 mph zone, in a no passing zone.  The man was issued a criminal summons for exceeding the posted speed limit by 30 mph or more and a warning for the illegal/unsafe pass.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Castonguay was conducting traffic enforcement on Interstate 95, Ludlow, and stopped a pickup hauling a trailer without rear lights.  After an investigation, the driver was arrested for OUI and transported to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton for a breath test.

    Brief Synopsis:      Cpl. Kilcollins was invited to Fort Fairfield High School to speak with students about getting a job in law enforcement and what it’s like. Cpl. Kilcollins spoke with the students about the BLETP, RTT, Background Checks, Oral Board, Polygraph, and what a Trooper does day to day. Cpl. Kilcollins also did a Q and A with the students and answered questions reference to law enforcement and the State Police.  

     

    Incident Type:       ACCIDENT - SERIOUS INJURY

    Trooper:                tr. curtin, tr. levesque, cpl. casavant

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Curtin  responded to a two-vehicle crash with injuries on Sly Brook Road in Wallagrass. Tr. Curtin investigated the crash and determined that Angel Bubar was operating a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek and was entering the roadway from a private driveway on the Sly Brook Road. At the same time, CJ Rocheleau was traveling East on Sly Brook Road in his 2011 GMC Sierra. Rocheleau was unable to avoid Bubar’s vehicle and the two vehicles collided. Bubar and his 15-year-old female passenger were seriously injured in the crash. Both were transported to Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent by ambulance and later life flighted to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Both remain in critical, but stable condition. Rocheleau was treated for minor injury at Northern Maine Medical Center and was later released. The investigation is active, and ongoing.


  • Troop G Weekly Report - 02/06/2023 - 02/12/2023

    On 02/07/2023, Tr. Ellis responded to a report from ME Turnpike maintenance personnel of an erratic commercial vehicle northbound in Wells. Octavius Littlejohn (24) of Rhode Island was stopped and a commercial inspection was conducted. He was found to be unlawfully watching a movie, operating with a suspended license, and in possession of marijuana. He was charged accordingly, placed out of service, and towed.

    On 02/11/2023, Tr. Anstett stropped Carlos Romero Jr. (34) for Criminal Speed on the Turnpike in Portland. Romero was issued a summons and cited for insurance and failure to keep right.

    On 02/11/2023, Tr. Wilcox stopped Rachata Ruangron (18) of South Portland, ME for speeding, 107/70, while northbound in Biddeford. Ruangron was found to be operating in violation of a conditional license and was summonsed accordingly.

    On 02/12/2023, Tr. Wilcox stopped a juvenile for speeding, 101/70, while southbound in Saco. The juvenile was found to be operating in violation of a conditional license and was summonsed accordingly.

    On 02/12/2023, Tr. Wilcox responded to a report of an erratic tractor trailer on the ME turnpike northbound in Lewiston. James Lamoreaux (52) of Pennsylvania was stopped, determined to be impaired, and arrested. He was taken to Androscoggin County Jail where he provided a breath sample. He was over the legal limit and charged with OUI-Alcohol. Tr. Ellis assisted by conducting a commercial inspection. Lamoreaux was placed out of service for 24 hours and his vehicle was towed.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier was conducting traffic enforcement in the town of Cyr Plantation when he observed a vehicle being operated by a male that he knew had a suspended driver’s license.  Tr. Desrosier stopped the vehicle and issued the man a summons for operating after suspension.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier was traveling on the Castonguay Rd. in Van Buren when he observed a subject operating a motorcycle.  Tr. Desrosier recognized the operator and knew that he had a suspended driver’s license.  Tr. Desrosier conducted a traffic stop on the motorcycle.  The operator was charged with operating after suspension and violation of conditions of release.  The man also had four active arrest warrants.  Tr. Desrosier placed the man under arrested and transported him to Van Buren PD where he was able to post bail.

    Brief Synopsis:       Sgt. Clark responded to a tractor trailer unit that had gone off the side of the roadway and was stuck in the ditch.  The tractor was in the roadway and caused a traffic hazard.  Sgt. Clark arrived on scene and learned that the registration to the tractor unit was suspended.  Sgt. Clark issued the trucking company a summons for operating with a suspended registration.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Curtin was called out to a residence in Van Buren reference to a trespass complaint.  A local woman who had been trespassed from several properties including that home and was ringing the doorbell repeatedly and screaming.  Tr. Curtin located the female and placed her under arrest on an outstanding warrant as well as the Criminal Trespass violation.  She was transported to ACJ.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Saucier was monitoring traffic in Stacyville when he observed a vehicle without an inspection sticker.  Tr. Saucier stopped the vehicle and learned the registration plates were falsely attached.  Tr. Saucier charged the operator with Attaching False Plates and  also summonsed him for Failure to Display Valid Inspection Sticker as well as Failure to Provide Evidence of Insurance.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Levesque and Tr. Curtin responded to a Van Buren residence after US Probation and Parole called requesting, they check a male subject whose ankle monitor was not working, and they were unable to get ahold of the male.  The male was found at his residence with no issues.  After speaking with the man, it appeared there was an issue with the monitoring system.  US Probation and Parole was updated and were all set.

    Brief Synopsis:       Troop F is doing an evidence room inventory and multiple firearms are in our possession that were found or turned in with no known owner listed.  If anyone has lost or is missing a firearm and has proof of ownership with a serial number  contact Troop F for Sgt. Josh Haines or Corporal Nick Casavant.

  • Troop G Weekly Report - 02/13/2023 - 02/19/2023

    On 02/15/2023, Troopers Phillips & Wilcox responded to a two-vehicle personal injury crash at mile marker 36 in Saco. Zachary Titus (28) of Ohio was arrested & charged with OUI - Alcohol.

    On 02/16/2023, Tr. Wilcox stopped Whilo Recio (25) of Massachusetts for speeding northbound on the ME Turnpike in Saco. Recio fled the scene and later stopped near Industrial Park Road in Saco. Reico was arrested and summonsed for Operating Without a License, Eluding, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

    On 02/16/2023, Cpl. Cote stopped Marie Carpinelli (45) of Gray on the ME Turnpike southbound in Portland.  She was found to have an active warrant.  She was arrested without incident and taken to the Cumberland County Jail.

    On 2/19/2023, Cpl. Sucy stopped a vehicle for speed at mile marker 39 southbound. Upon further investigation, Chantrea El (24) of Portland was charged with Operating After Suspension.

  • Troop F Weekly Report 02-20 to 02-26-23

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Roy was conducting traffic enforcement in Mars Hill when he stopped a vehicle for a speeding violation.  Tr. Roy learned that the operator’s driver’s license was currently suspended.  Tr. Roy issued the operator a summons for Operating after suspension and a warning for the speed violation.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Roy was conducting traffic enforcement in Hodgdon when he stopped a vehicle for having defects.  Tr. Roy learned that the operator’s license was conditional with going to and from work.  The operator was operating outside of his conditional license. Tr. Roy issued the operator a summons for operating without a license.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Roy was conducting traffic enforcements in Littleton when he stopped a vehicle for motor vehicle defects.  Tr. Roy learned the owner of the vehicle had a current inspection sticker.  Tr. Roy spoke with the owner who stated that he altered the vehicle after the inspection.  Tr. Roy issued the operator a summons for an alteration of vehicle after inspection.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Desrosier and Tr. Martin escorted the Fort Kent High School Alpine Ski Team after their championship win.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Desrosier was conducting traffic enforcement in Van Buren when he observed a man driving a pickup that he recognized and who he knew had a suspended driver’s license.  Tr. Desrosier conducting a traffic stop on the vehicle and issued the operator a summons for Operating After Suspension.  The pickup was towed from the roadway.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Desrosier was conducting a bail check on a subject in Van Buren.  Tr. Desrosier learned that the subject was not at home past his curfew time.  Tr. Desrosier located the man later and conducted a bail check.  The man was summonsed for having drug paraphernalia and violation of conditions of release.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Roy was conducting traffic enforcement in Mars Hill when he observed a vehicle with multiple defects.  Tr. Roy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and learned that the operator and owner had inspected his own vehicle knowing that the vehicle did not pass inspection.  Tr. Roy issued the man a summons for issuance of a certificate for a substandard vehicle.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Desrosier was conducting traffic enforcements in Grand Isle when he observed a vehicle pass by him with defective exhaust.  Tr. Desrosier conduced a traffic stop on the vehicle and learned that the operator’s driver’s license was currently suspended.  Tr. Desrosier issued the man a summons for Operating After Suspension.  The passenger had a valid driver’s license and drove the vehicle from the scene.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Castonguay was conducting traffic enforcement near the Houlton and Ludlow town line when he stopped a vehicle for a speeding violation.  Tr. Castonguay learned the operator did not have a valid license.  Tr. Castonguay issued the man a summons for Operating without a license.  Tr. Castonguay made arrangements to have the vehicle driven by a licensed driver.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Castonguay responded to a reported crash on the Station Rd. in New Limerick.  Tr. Castonguay located the vehicle that had gone off the road and hit a sign.  The operator arrived back on scene while Tr. Castonguay was doing a crash report.  Tr. Castonguay conducted an investigation and saw clues that lead him to believe that the operator was impaired at the time of the crash.  Tr. Castonguay placed the operator through field sobriety testing and placed the man under arrest for OUI.  Tr. Castonguay gave the man a breath alcohol test and he was able to place bail.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Castonguay was conducting traffic enforcement on Interstate 95, Dyer Brook and stopped a vehicle for a speeding violation.  Tr. Castonguay learned that the operator’s driver’s license was currently under suspension.  Tr. Castonguay issued the operator a summons for Operating After Suspension. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Desrosier was investigating a trespassing complaint in Eagle Lake and learned the suspect had an active warrant for his arrest.  Tr. Desrosier located the man in Winterville and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. Tr. Desrosier learned that the suspect also had a revoked driver’s license.  Tr. Desrosier arrested the man for his warrant and transported him to the Aroostook County Jail.  The man was issued a summons for Operating after Habitual Offender Revocation.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Castonguay was conducting traffic enforcement in Hodgdon when he stopped a vehicle for having an expired registration.  Tr. Castonguay learned that the operator and registered owner’s driver’s license was currently under suspension. Tr. Castonguay issued the operator a summons for Operating after suspension and the registration violation.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Martin stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction in Fort Kent. Upon further investigation, Tr. Martin found out the registration plates on the vehicle were illegally attached. The plates that were on the vehicle belonged to another vehicle. The female was charged with False Attachment of Registration Plates and Violation of Conditional Release because she was on bail. Tr. Martin had the vehicle towed because it was not registered or inspected.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Martin assisted Fort Kent Police Department with the report of a possible robbery on Main Street. Fort Kent Police Department and Tr. Martin arrived on scene to find a male and female in the apartment. The male and female were not supposed to be in the apartment. It was found that both the male and female had outstanding warrants. The male and female were charged with Criminal Trespass and arrested on their warrants. Cpl. Kilcollins and Tr. Merchant assisted Fort Kent Police Department with transporting the female prisoner to the Aroostook County Jail.

    Brief Synopsis:      Troop F is doing an evidence room inventory and multiple firearms are in our possession that were found or turned in with no known owner listed.  If anyone has lost or is missing a firearm and has proof of ownership with a serial number, contact Troop F for Sgt. Josh Haines or Cpl. Nick Casavant.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Curtin took a report reference to a camp burglary in T15R13.  The owner of the camp lives several hours away and was told by a friend in the area that it looked like his camp had been broken into.  The owner of the camp advised he would go to the camp to take an inventory of what is missing and will let Tr. Curtin know.  It is believed the burglary is related to the ongoing multi-agency investigation in the area. 

  • Troop G Weekly Report - 02/20/2023 - 02/26/2023

    On 02/24/2023, Sgt. Porter came upon a MV crash at MM 45 SB. A Ford Taurus went off the roadway and struck the Exit 45 sign causing in excess of $5,000 damage. The operator, Brian Landry (39) of Biddeford, was arrested for VCR, OUI Drugs, Poss. of Meth, and Viol. of Conditional License.

    On 02/25/2023, Cpl. Cote stopped Brandon Simpson (26) of Windham on the ME Turnpike northbound in Gray.  Both his license and vehicle registration were suspended.  He was charged with Operating after Suspension and his vehicle was towed away.

    On 02/25/2023, Tr. Ellis stopped a juvenile operator for criminal speeding 105/70 on the ME turnpike northbound in Gray. The juvenile was summonsed for the speed.
