Trooper Dana Austin responded Hancock for a report of two lost hunters. The two hunters had gotten lost after shooting a deer. Trooper Austin located one of the hunters and stood by until the Maine Warden Service arrived. Warden Eric Rudolph located the other lost hunter and assisted him with getting him out of the woods. The hunter was checked out by a ambulance due to hyporthermia. Trooper Austin was assisted by Sergeant Jason Sattler.

Trooper Kim Sawyer summonsed Rodney Levesque (41) of Machias for Violating Conditions of Release after a traffic stop in Meddybemps for speed. He was in possession of Marijuana and his conditions were not to use or possess it.

Trooper Gavin Endre began investigating the theft of election signs in Trenton.

Trooper Miles Carpenter investigated a complaint of a political sign being driven over in Machiasport.

Trooper Caleb McGary responded to a theft complaint in Orland where money was paid for services on a house and the work was not completed.  Investigation continues.

Trooper Dana Austin responded to Township 10 for a motor vehicle crash, as a result of the investigation, Joshua Greenlaw (31) of Mariaville was summonsed for Operating Under the Influence. Sergeant Jason Sattler and Trooper Gavin Endre assisted.

Trooper Kim Sawyer arrested William Gibson (21) of Baileyville for Operating Under the Influence-Drugs after a traffic crash on Main Street in Princeton.  Indian Township Police Officer Aaron Dana and Officer Jess McCook assisted on scene.  Pleasant Point Police Officer Ethan Stevens performed the Drug Recognition Evaluation.

 Trooper Kim Sawyer summonsed Donald Holmes (59) of Alexander for Violating Conditions of Release, Failure to Report by Quickest Means and for Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle (expired 3/31/2019) after a crash on Conant Hill in Meddybemps on 10/5/2020.

Trooper Gavin Endre responded to a vehicle rollover on Newman Street in Winter Harbor. The operator Chun Hung Tseng (28) of New York was not injured.

Detective Sergeant Greg Mitchell stopped a vehicle for erratic operation on Route 1 in Ellsworth.  As a result of further investigation conducted by Corporal Chris Smith, STARR FERRIS (39) of Ellsworth was arrested for Operating Under the Influence.  Additional charges are pending.

Corporal Chris Smith investigated a reported trespassing incident on the Morrison Farm Road in Mariaville.  As a result, Joseph Martin Vachon (83) of Ellsworth was summonsed for Criminal Trespass.

Trooper Dana Austin responded to Orland for a report of a man who had stolen a trailer from a yard sale, as a result of the investigation, Gary Ashe (57) of Bucksport was summonsed for Theft by Inauthroized Taking or Transfer.

Corporal Micah Perkins stopped Jay Preston (30) of Edmunds, in Cooper and issued him a summons for Operating After Suspension.

Trooper Owen Reed responded to a fraud complaint in Blue Hill where $800 was reportedly given to an unknown source via computer by an elderly resident.  Investigation continues.

Trooper Keith York responded to Alexander for a well-being check.  Corporal Micah Perkins and the Maine Warden Service assisted.

Trooper Blaine Silk responded to a crash in Amherst where the driver of the vehicle was reportedly intoxicated. Trooper Silk arrived on scene and determined the operator, Norman Grindle (51) of Amherst was intoxicated. GRINDLE was arrested for Operating Under the Influence.

Trooper Dana Austin stopped a motor vehicle for a traffic violation in Franklin, as a result of the investigation, Eric Carson (41) of Robbinston was summonsed for Operating after Suspension.

Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a fatal crash on Route 1 in Edmunds involving a single vehicle and single occupant. The operator of a silver 2005 Toyota Camry, Meghan McPhail (19) of Whiting, died as a result of her injuries.  McPhail was travelling North at the time of the crash.  Trooper Keith York responded as the primary investigator and was assisted at the scene by Sergeant Jeff Ingemi, Corporal Micah Perkins, Trooper Andy Foss and Washington County Sheriff’s Department.  Speed, alcohol and fatigue are possible factors in this crash.  McPhail was not wearing a seatbelt.  Dennysville Ambulance, Dennysville Fire Department and Whiting Fire Department also assisted.  Investigation continues.

Trooper Owen Reed arrested Ryan Williford (33) of Blue Hill, for Operating Without a License after a traffic stop in Blue Hill.

Trooper Owen Reed responded to a phone harassment complaint in Deer Isle where a harassing message was left on a voicemail.  Investigation continues.

Trooper Jeffrey Taylor summonsed Nicholas Bilger (27) of Jonesboro for Operating After Habitual Offender Revocation – Class C as result of a seatbelt violation in East Machias.

Trooper Gavin Endre responded to an abandoned vehicle on Route 182 in Hancock. Throughout the investigation, Michael Brunt (26) of Steuben was arrested on a Probation Violation, Brunt was highly intoxicated. Travis Yeaton (36) of Steuben was summonsed for Violation of Conditions of Release.  Yeaton was also intoxicated. Corporal Smith assisted.

 

 

Blue Hill Theft

Sign Theft Blue HillThe Maine State police are investigating a recent theft of an electric speed warning sign owned and operated by the Town of Blue Hill designed to slow traffic on Main Street. The device is a costly loss to the town and the Town of Blue Hill is offering a monetary reward pending a court conviction for the thief. Edmunds Fatal Crash

Maine State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Edmunds Wednesday evening.

On Sept. 16, 2020, at approximately 11:03 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a fatal crash on Route 1 in Edmunds involving a single vehicle and single occupant. The operator of a silver 2005 Toyota Camry, Meghan McPhail, 19 of Whiting, died as a result of her injuries.  McPhail was travelling North at the time of the crash.  

Trooper Keith York responded as the primary investigator and was assisted at the scene by Sergeant Jeff Ingemi, Corporal Micah Perkins, Trooper Andy Foss and Washington County Sheriff’s Department.
 
Speed, alcohol and fatigue are possible factors in this crash.  McPhail was not wearing a seatbelt. 

Dennysville Ambulance, Dennysville Fire Department and Whiting Fire Department also assisted.  Investigation continues.
 

Hancock Crash

At around 7:20 am this morning there was a motor vehicle crash involving a dump truck and SUV on the Washington Junction Rd. in the town of Hancock.  The driver of the dump truck, Michael Fraser (56) of Holden crossed into the opposite lane. The operator of the SUV Jason Farnsworth (64) of Bucksport was travelling in the opposite direction and attempted to avoid the dump truck. The dump truck crashed into the passenger side of the SUV and then the dump truck rolled onto its side. Both operators suffered broken bones as a result of the crash and were transported to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth.   The dump truck is owned by Wellman Paving out of Winterport. What caused Fraser to travel into the opposite lane is still under investigation.  Tr. Blaine Silk is the primary investigator and was assisted by several Troopers, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office and the Hancock Fire Dept.

Trooper Dana Austin stopped a motor vehicle for a traffic violation in Hancock, as a result of the inveatigation, Deborah Sinclair (51) of Sullivan was arrested for Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, Violation of Conditional Release and Operating after Suspension. Jennifer Cote (44) of Smyrna was arrested for Unlawful Possession of Methampetamine, and Heather Mullen (33) of Hancock was arrested for Violation of Conditional Release. Trooper Austin was assisted by Corporal Christopher Smith, Trooper Gavin Endre, the Maine Warden Service, and the Hancock County Sheriffs Office.

Trooper Gavin Endre conducted a traffic stop on Route 1A in Ellsworth. Throughout the investigation Jade Marsh (35) of the Bangor area was charged with possession of Schedule W Drugs, Dylan Belanger (27) of Corinth was arrested for Possession of Schedule W Drugs.

09-09-20

Trooper Dana Austin responded to Orland for a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrain. A vehicle had struck a pedestrian who was walking on the Front Ridge Road. Only minor injuries were observed on the pedestrian.

Trooper Andy Foss responded to a fatal crash on the Port Road in Machiasport involving a car and a motorized bicycle. The bicycle rider, Garrett Sprague (15) of Machiasport, died as a result of his injuries.  The vehicle involved was a 2011 Buick LaCrosse driven by Caleb Norton (20) of Machiasport.  Norton was driving east while the bicycle was traveling west, and the collision occurred in the eastbound lane. Troopers learned that the motorized bicycle was in the on-coming lane for unknown reasons.  Trooper Andy Foss responded as the primary investigator and was assisted at the scene by Sergeant Jeff Ingemi, Corporal Micah Perkins, Troop Investigator Josh Lander, and Washington County Sheriff’s Department.  A crash reconstruction and forensic mapping are being conducted along with a vehicle autopsy.  Poor visibility is a factor in this crash where there was thick fog at the time of the crash.  Machiasport Fire Department and Machias Ambulance also assisted.  Investigation continues.

Machiasport Fatal Crash

Maine State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Machiasport Wednesday evening.
