  • Troop G Weekly Report - 03/27/2023 - 04/02/2023

    On 03/27/2023, Tr. Ellis stopped Steven Eaton (46) of Massachusetts for a license plate violation on the ME turnpike northbound in Arundel. He was operating a commercial box truck and Tr. Ellis conducted an inspection. Numerous violations were discovered including an inoperable brake. He was summonsed and placed out of service. The vehicle was towed.

    On 03/29/2023, Tr. Foley stopped Crystal Roberge (39) in Wells for erratic operation. The investigation resulted in Tr. Foley arresting Roberge for Operating Under the Influence. Roberge refused to provide a breath sample and was summonsed for OUI.

    On 03/29/2023, Sgt. Pappas arrested Shonbriante Jolivette of Louisiana for Operating Without a License and Theft - Class B after she was found to be driving a stolen vehicle filed in Portland.

    On 03/31/2023, Cpl. Ricci Cote stopped Mandisa Jackson (32) of Peru on the ME Turnpike northbound in Scarborough.  She was summonsed for Attaching False Plates and her vehicle was towed away.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier went to the Caribou Technical Center and spoke with criminal justice students.  He spoke on impaired driving, Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, and other related topics.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Roy investigated a complaint of a vehicle passing a stopped school bus in the morning hours in Easton.  The bus driver reported being stopped, with red lights flashing, while picking up students, when a vehicle failed to stop.  After an investigation, Tr. Roy located the driver even though the vehicle was registered in Scarborough and issued the driver a criminal summons for the violation.  The man stated he did not recall seeing the red lights flashing.  The incident was recorded on the buses outside camera.

    Brief Synopsis:       A vehicle was reported driving north in the southbound lane of Interstate 95, Oakfield.  Det. Cotton, MCU-N, was in the immediate area and located the vehicle within minutes.  Tr. Castonguay arrived at the scene moments later and investigated.  The driver did not know why she got on the Interstate going the wrong way.  The driver was not impaired at the time of the incident and was issued a traffic summons for the violation.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr Merchant responded to a rollover accident on I-95. It was reported that the vehicle was blocking the passing lane. Upon arrival Tr Merchant shut down the travel lanes and diverted traffic to the breakdown lane due to the vehicle blocking both lanes laying on its side. The operator and passenger were able to exit the vehicle without injury. The accident was due to the road conditions as it was snowing creating poor road conditions.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Levesque was responding to a call when a deer ran out in front of him. Tr Levesque struck the deer causing damage to the front of his cruiser

    Brief Synopsis:       Troop F is doing an evidence room inventory and multiple firearms are in our possession that were found or turned in with no known owner listed.  If anyone has lost or is missing a firearm and has proof of ownership with a serial number  contact Troop F for Sgt. Josh Haines or Corporal Nick Casavant.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Saucier was monitoring traffic in Patten when he observed a vehicle with no inspection sticker.  Tr. Saucier stopped the vehicle and learned the operator had a suspended license.  Tr. Saucier charged the Patten male with OAS.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Saucier was monitoring traffic in Patten when he observed a local male subject operating a motor vehicle that he knew to be suspended.  Tr. Saucier stopped the vehicle and learned the male also had a warrant for his arrest.  Tr. Saucier arrested the operator and transported him to the Troop F Barracks where he was charged with OAS and bailed on the warrant.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Saucier was monitoring traffic in Smyrna when he observed a vehicle traveling with no registration plates.  Tr. Saucier stopped the vehicle and the operator advised he recently purchased the vehicle in a private sale and had yet to register it.  Tr. Saucier charged the operator with the registration violation and he was advised not to drive the vehicle until it was registered.

    Brief Synopsis:       Sgt. Haines, Cpl. Casavant, Tr. Roy, and Tr. Merchant held a Be the Match event at Northern Maine Community College and University of Maine at Presque Isle.  113 people volunteered to join the Be the Match Registry during the event at the two schools.

    Brief Synopsis:       Sgt. Haines, Cpl. Casavant, Tr. Roy, and Tr. Merchant held a Be the Match event at University of Maine at Fort Kent.  56 people volunteered to join the Be the Match Registry during the event at the school.

    Brief Synopsis:      Sgt. Clark was conducting traffic enforcement in Easton and observed a vehicle stopped behind a school bus that appeared to have an expired registration over two years.  The vehicle stopped at the local store and Sgt. Clark continued to monitor the vehicle.  After a brief moment, the driver started driving back towards Presque Isle.  Sgt. Clark stopped the vehicle and after an investigation, it was found the driver was suspended and the vehicle had not been registered/inspected since 2021.  Sgt. Clark issued a criminal summons for OAS and Operating Unregistered Vehicle.  He was issued a warning for the inspection violation.  The vehicle was parked at the man’s residence in Easton.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Roy was conducting traffic enforcement in Fort Kent and observed a vehicle with substandard windows.  Tr. Roy initiated a traffic stop and after an investigation, it was determined the window tint installed on the vehicle was darker than permitted per state law and was on the vehicle when it was inspected.  Tr. Roy removed the inspection certificate from the vehicle and issued the driver a traffic summons for installing substandard windows on the vehicle.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Roy was conducting traffic enforcement in Caswell and observed a vehicle stop at a yield sign and remain stopped for an extended period.  Tr. Roy noted the vehicle was not currently inspected as well and conducted a traffic stop.  After an investigation, it was found that the vehicle would not pass inspection and the driver was suspended.  The man was issued a criminal summons for OAS and a traffic summons for not having valid inspection.    The vehicle was removed from the roadway.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Roy was conducting traffic enforcement in Frenchville and observed a  vehicle with an expired inspection certificate.  Tr. Roy stopped the vehicle and after an investigation, the driver told Tr. Roy the front wheel bearings are defective keeping the vehicle from passing inspection.  Tr. Roy had the vehicle towed from the roadway.  While it was being loaded on the wrecker, Tr. Roy noted one front wheel was canted to an extreme causing damage to the braking system.  The driver was issued a criminal summons for operating a defective motor vehicle.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Castonguay is currently investigating a fraud complaint in Linneus.  The victim reports his social security payment was stolen and deposited into an account in Ohio.  The Ohio police are currently looking into the incident as well.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Barnard received a tip reference to a male with warrants in Patten. The male was walking down the road and it was known that the male had two active arrest warrants. Tr. Barnard arrived on scene and spoke with the male. Tr. Barnard advised the male he had two active warrants and he was under arrest. The male was arrested without incident and was taken to the Troop F Barracks. At the Barracks the male was able to make bail and was released with a new court date.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Martin received a trespass complaint in Saint Francis. During his investigation Tr. Martin discovered the female offender had an active arrest warrant. Tr. Martin went to the female’s residence to serve her with a trespass warning. After Tr. Martin had served the female with the trespass warning he advised her that she also had an active arrest warrant. Tr. Martin placed the female under arrest on the active warrant. Tr. Martin took the female to Fort Kent Police Department where she made bail. The female was released and given a new court date.

    Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Martin went to a residence in Van Buren to serve a male with a protection from abuse order. During Tr. Martin’s investigation he also learned that the male had several outstanding warrants. Tr. Martin went to the residence and spoke with a female who advised the male was not currently at home. Tr. Martin got in his cruiser and started to leave the apartment complex. As Tr. Martin was exiting the driveway, he observed a male pull into the driveway that appeared to be the male he was looking for. Tr. Martin turned around and made contact with the male. Tr. Martin served the male with the protection from abuse order. Tr. Martin then advise the male he had several active arrest warrants. Tr. Martin placed the male under arrest without incident. The male was not able to make bail, so Tr. Martin transported the male to the Aroostook County Jail.

    Brief Synopsis:      Sgt. Haines taught a block of ALICE Training at Central Aroostook Middle/High School in Mars Hill.

  • Troop G Weekly Report - 04/03/2023 - 04/09/2023

    On 04/03/2023, Tr. Phillips conducted a traffic stop NB near MM 32 on a BMW traveling at approximately 110 MPH. Contact was made with the driver who was found to have a suspended license. The driver was summonsed without any further issues.

    On 04/04/2023, Tr. Phillips conducted a traffic stop on a BMW traveling SB near MM 24 at approximately 115 MPH. Contact was made with the driver who was found to have a suspended license. Through the stop it was also determined that the driver had falsely attached the plates that were on the vehicle. The driver was charged and the vehicle was towed from the scene without any further issues.

    On 04/08/2023, Cpl. Cote stopped a juvenile male on the ME Turnpike northbound in Auburn for Criminal Speed (105/70).  He also did not have a license.  His speed was reduced to an infraction and he was summonsed.  A passenger in the vehicle had an active warrant for failure to appear in court.  He was arrested on the warrant and taken to the Androscoggin County Jail.  The vehicle was towed away.

    On 04/08/2023, at approximately 2200 hours, Tr. Phillips responded to a serious PI crash at MM 23 NB in Kennebunk. Tr. Phillips arrived on scene to a single vehicle into the woods. Tr. Phillips made contact with the driver, who had serious non-life-threatening injury. The driver admitted to traveling up from MA to attempt suicide. The driver had gone approximately 110 MPH prior to intentionally leaving the roadway and striking the trees. The driver was transported to Maine Medical Center.
