Asthma – Take Action Now
“Maine is committed to supporting those with asthma. Please consider signing up for this program. It is free and can help you better manage your asthma.”
Dr. Nirav D. Shah, Director, Maine CDC
- More than 18,000 Maine children under the age of 18 have asthma.
- More than 140,000 Maine adults have asthma.
- Asthma makes it hard to breath. An asthma attack can be triggered by the environment, cold, even exercise.
- Asthma cannot be cured, but it can be managed. Working with your doctor can help you understand and control triggers that cause an asthma flare up. You CAN reduce how often an attack happens and how bad an attack can feel by learning your triggers (PDF).
Help is free.
If you, your child, or someone you live with has asthma, you are not alone. Maine offers many resources to help control and manage asthma.
