PFAS and Fish

June 2025 - The Maine CDC issued freshwater fish consumption advisories recommending either no consumption or limited consumption of fish from four waterbodies located on and around the former naval air station in Brunswick, Maine. Read the press release.

PFAS in Fish Guidelines

Fish are an important part of a healthy diet. However, some freshwater fish have PFAS or other chemicals in them. The Maine CDC issues safe eating guidelines based on the presence of these chemicals. View a list of all freshwater fish consumption advisories

Due to the presence of PFAS in freshwater fish, Maine CDC recommends anglers limit or eliminate consumption of some or all fish species from these waterbodies.
