The Maine Public Drinking Water Commission is responsible for annually reviewing and approving the drinking water fee. Due to increasing programmatic costs, the Commission has approved an Annual Drinking Water Fee increase for the first time since 2019. Beginning with State Fiscal Year 2026, the new base fee is $75 for systems with a population of 100 or less, and a $0.70 per capita fee for populations over 100.
Invoices were mailed to regulated public water systems in early July, 2025.
