Maine State Park Camping Cancellations, Refunds & Changes Policies

Cancellation Fees

  • $5. per night reservation fee is kept for each cancelled night.
  • Minimum Stay Requirement must be met for partial cancellations:
  • Sebago Lake State Park requires a minimum 4-night stay if you make your reservation during the month of February for any time during the camping season.
  • Friday or Saturday minimum 2-night consecutive stay.* (Made before July 1st.)

*When booking a Friday or a Saturday night, it must be in a consecutive 2-night combination.
Examples:

  • Friday must be in combination with either a Thursday or a Saturday: Thursday & Friday OR Friday & Saturday.
  • Saturday must be in combination with either a Friday or a Sunday: Friday & Saturday OR Saturday & Sunday.
  • When booking a reservation on or after July 1, a 1-night minimum stay is available, including weekends, at all parks.

To Cancel or Change a Reservation

Requires your:

  1. Permit number
  2. Billing name (as entered when the reservation was originally processed - example: John Q. Public, Sr.).
  3. Credit card* used for original reservation
    • *State of Maine, Bureau of Parks and Lands, Credit Card Refund Policy
      1. All Cancellations/Refunds must be authorized by Bureau of Parks and Lands Staff, subject to the Cancellation/Refund Policy.
      2. For security purposes, all changes to reservations must be made by the person who paid for the reservation (name listed in billing information).
      3. REFUNDS WILL ONLY BE MADE TO THE ORIGINAL CREDIT CARD USED, MINUS CANCELLATION FEES.
      4. All refunds must be processed by the end of the reservation season.
      5. There are NO REFUNDS for $5 processing fees when you cancel and rebook online.

  1. Complete Cancellation may be made:
    1. Any day of the week, 24/7 you may use the self-service online Center at www.CampWithME.com
    2. Prior to Arrival Date; you may use either the:
      1. Self-service online Center 24/7 at www.CampWithME.com
        • OR
      2. Reservation Call Center; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. EST Monday through Friday.
        • In Maine call: 800-332-1501
        • From Outside Maine call: (207) 624-9950
      • Complete Cancellation Refund = (full payment) minus the (non-refundable reservation fee)
    3. On Arrival Date - Before 4:00 p.m. EST
      1. If Monday - Friday, call the Reservation Call Center; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. EST
        • In Maine call: 800-332-1501
        • From Outside Maine call: (207) 624-9950
        • OR
      2. If Saturday, Sunday or Holiday, call the State Park.
        • Complete Cancellation Refund = full payment - non-refundable reservation fee
    4. On Arrival Date - After 4:00 p.m. EST- call the State Park
        • Site fee is not refunded for cancellations after 4:00 p.m. EST
        • Refund = full payment - (arrival date site fee + non-refundable reservation fee
  2. Partial Cancellation or a Change in Reservation may be made, but MUST honor the minimum stay requirement:
    1. Prior to Arrival Date

Refunds

No refunds are giving for:

  • No Calls / No Shows
  • Late Arrivals
  • Evicted Campers
  • Partial cancellations resulting in a reservation not meeting the minimum stay requirement:
    • Friday or Saturday minimum 2 night stay when reservation was originally made before July 1.
    • Sebago Lake State Park 4 night stay for reservations made during (not for) February.
  • Site change request regardless of any cost differentials at the campgrounds.

No Shows/No Calls Policy

If the occupant does not arrive or call the park on the first night of the scheduled reservation, the campsite will be held for that night. If the occupant has not arrived at the park or cancelled the reservation by 1:00 p.m. EST on the second day, the campsite will be put back in the inventory and sold. There will be no refunds authorized for NO SHOW/NO CALL reservations.

Maine Residency Policy

To qualify for Maine residency fees, the campers occupying the campsite or entering the park must hold a current Maine driver's license or register a vehicle in Maine. Valid Maine identification is required for check-in purposes.

Registration and Quiet Time

Campers may check in between 1:00 PM and 9:00 PM EST and must be set up before quiet hours, which begin at 10:00 PM. Quiet time hours are strictly enforced. You will not be able to enter the campground if you arrive late, and you will not be eligible for a refund that night.

Changing and Moving Campsites Policy

When booking a reservation, campers are only allowed to move/change a campsite (split site) one time. Campers may move when arriving at the park, if another campsite is open and can accommodate the size of equipment and the period of time requested. There are no refunds of reservation fees or other associated moving fees. Check with park staff for more information.

Group Camping Policy for Group Campsites

Many parks offer group campsites that are designed for use by organizations with multiple and larger camping groups (parties of more than six individuals sharing cooking and camping equipment). Visit the Group Camping page for all registration proceedures and information.

One Night Reservations

Beginning July 1 each season, there are no weekend minimum night stay requirements. You can book a reservation for one night even on the weekends. All rules, policies for refunds and cancellations apply.
