Trooper:                   Tr. Castonguay / Cpl. quint (FTO)

Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Castonguay assisted the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department in Sherman/Stacyville.  The Deputy was investigating an incident where the driver of a pickup truck swerved and came within an unsafe distance of the complainant and his children who were walking down a road in Stacyville, nearly striking.  The Deputy requested the Troopers locate the offender (he was known to the complainant) and issue a summons to him.  Tr. Castonguay was able to find the offender in Stacyville and conducted a brief interview.  The man alleged the complainant ran into the center of the roadway while he was driving.  The man accepted the summons without incident and stated he was going to contact the Deputy regarding this incident.

Town:                        mars hill

Trooper:                   Tr. Levesque

Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Levesque received a complaint of a theft of a vehicle in Mars Hill.  A female went to her grandfather’s house and stole the keys to a car and drove to Bangor with it.  Tr. Levesque contacted Bangor PD and they checked a residence and determined that the female did have the car, but she was not at the residence.  Bangor PD later located the vehicle abandoned in a parking lot, it was towed and returned to the owner.  The investigation is ongoing.

Trooper:                   Tr. Levesque

Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Levesque assisted the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office and Presque Isle PD with locating male subject who was wanted on a temp warrant for violation of a protection order.  Tr. Levesque was waiting on Main Street in Presque Isle for the male and saw him walking.  Tr. Levesque and Ofc. Seeley with PIPD stopped and held him for the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office to interview and arrest him.

Town:                        Houlton

Trooper:                   Tr. Cotton

Brief Synopsis:       Houlton Border Patrol called Houlton Regional Communications Center to advise them that a white pickup truck had taken the crossover North of Exit 302 on I95 at an unsafe speed, passing their fully marked pickup truck and re-entered the roadway without stopping. Border Patrol advised that they had stopped the white truck in the same area. Tr. Cotton arrived on scene and met with the agents who advised they observed a box of wine in her passenger seat and the female driver was acting strange. Tr. Cotton conducted field sobriety tests with the female driver and ultimately transported her to Aroostook County Jail for an Intoxilyzer test. Tr. Cotton charged the female with OUI-Alcohol and gave her a ride to her house in Houlton

Brief Synopsis:        Cpl. Michaud investigated a burglary complaint in Easton when a resident reported finding items that appeared to have been stolen in a nearby wooded area.  The investigation revealed that at least one residence been burglarized and had items taken from it.  The investigation is ongoing, and suspects have been developed in the case.  It appears that the suspects used snowmobiles in the commission of the criminal acts.

Town:                        Castle Hill

Trooper:                   Tr. Casavant

Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Casavant responded to Castle Hill after receiving a report of a theft of some construction equipment and supplies from the area.  A resident reported items had recently been stolen from his property and the investigation is currently ongoing.

Town:                        Sherman

Trooper:                   TR. SAUCIER

Brief Synopsis:       State Police received a report of theft in Sherman.  The victim discovered a catalytic converter had been cut off his vehicle.  Tr. Tim Saucer responded, and his investigation led him to a residence on North St in Sherman belonging to 36-year old Chris McNally.  The residence was secured with the assistance of Maine Game Wardens and Maine Forest Rangers while a warrant could be drafted.  As Troopers, Wardens and Rangers secured the perimeter of the property fresh footwear impressions were found leaving from the rear of the residence.  A State Police K-9 team tracked the suspects to a point where they were believed to have been picked up on a nearby roadway.  McNally, who was on probation for possession of schedule drugs, eventually turned himself in to State Police back at his residence where was arrested on a probation hold and charged with felony theft.  42-year old Larry Morgan also of Sherman was arrested at a nearby friend’s residence a short time later.  Morgan had a warrant from Penobscot County for possession of schedule drugs and was charged with felony theft.  Both McNally and Morgan were transported to the Aroostook County Jail.  State Police have recently seen a rise in property crimes to include burglaries and thefts this week on the Mahaney Rd in Easton and Waddell Rd in Castle Hill.  Anyone with information on any of these crimes or witnessing suspicious activity is encouraged to call the State Police in Houlton at 532-5400.
