Share Your Input on Maine's Outdoor Recreation Future!

March 10, 2025

Are you a recreational ATV, UTV, or snowmobile user? Take a moment to provide feedback on Maine's Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP)!

What is SCORP, and Why Does Your Feedback Matter?

SCORP is a Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan developed by all 50 states and recognized as the primary guiding document for outdoor recreation planning at the local, state, and federal levels.

In Maine, the Bureau of Parks and Lands leads the development of SCORP, with input from statewide outdoor recreation stakeholders such as municipalities, nonprofits, land trusts, private businesses, and landowners. A diverse steering committee and public feedback help ensure the plan reflects the needs and priorities of all outdoor recreation users.

This strategic plan focuses on protecting and enhancing Maines outdoor recreation assets to support community wellness, economic sustainability, and quality outdoor experiences for both residents and visitors. It also aligns with the Outdoor Economy Roadmap and helps Maine adapt to changing climate patterns and growing demand for recreation opportunities.

SCORP is required for states to qualify for funding through the Land & Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) and must be updated every five years. Maines next SCORP update is due June 2025.
