On 03/23/2020, Tr. Duda responded to a single vehicle crash near mile marker 36 sb. The vehicle, driven by Sonia Castro Echaiz (39) of Sanford was traveling southbound at high speed and in inclement weather when she lost control of her vehicle, and slammed into trees. She was taken to Maine Medical Center for injuries sustained from the crash.

State Police say a tractor trailer loaded with French fries has overturned on an on-ramp leading to the turnpike in Scarborough.  The northbound on-ramp is closed at mile 42.  The turnpike itself is not affected. The driver suffered minor injuries.  That ramp will be closed  for the evening commute.

State Police say a man who held police at bay for several hours in Hanover this morning surrendered just before noon time after talking with State Police negotiators.  40 year old Paul Legasse of Camden is charged with domestic violence assault and criminal threatening.  Oxford Sheriff's deputies and troopers were called to the Route 2 house around 2:30 AM when Legasse's girlfriend , who was beaten and threatened with a knife, was able to escape her home to call police.

Slippery conditions contributed to a tractor trailer rollover in Smyrna.

On March 23, 2020, at approximately 10:39 p.m., State Police were called to a tractor trailer off the road on Interstate 95 in Smyrna. Tpr. Tim Saucier responded to investigate the crash. He determined that the driver, Biniam Tewelde, 41, of Dallas, Texas, was travelling southbound hauling a load of potatoes when he lost control on the slippery roadway and went off into the median, rolling the tractor and trailer onto its side.
Tewelde was not injured, but the unit suffered disabling damage.

State Police say the death of a Stonington man inside his home is a suicide.  That determination was made today in the death of 41 year old Matthew Billings.  Investigators spent Monday night and most of Tuesday at Billings' home and told his relatives late today of their findings.

State police say the death of a man inside a home in Stonington is  being considered suspicious.   The man's body was found inside the home at 44 Weed Field Road about 2 PM Monday afternoon.  The man's body was transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta for an autopsy that will take place this morning.  Detectives and Evidence Technicians remained at the home during the night and that work will continue today.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the case to contact State Police in Bangor at 207-973-3700.

On 03/16/2020 Tr. Martin received a complaint regarding a male exposing himself to Dunkin Donut workers in Unity. As a result of the investigation, Justin Pomeroy (26) was summonsed for Indecent Conduct and trespassed from the Unity Dunkin Donuts. 

On 3/16/2020 Tr. Belanger and Trooper Webber stopped Gerald Burleigh (43) of Benton on East Benton Rd in Benton after receiving a motor vehicle complaint. Burleigh was ultimately arrested for OUI.  His passenger, Daniel Quimby (47) of Benton, was arrested on an FTA warrant. Both were transported to Kennebec County Jail.
