State Police are currently investigating multiple crashes on Route 161 in Cross Lake one of which is a five vehicle crash with injuries. Route 161 will be closed due to white out conditions in Cross Lake until further notice and motorists are encouraged to avoid the area if at all possible. Visibility due to high winds is making driving conditions poor in other areas of Aroostook County as well.

State Police say a second person has been charged in connection with a Richmond homicide last fall.   Arrested today is 30 year old Chanda Lilly of Augusta.  She was arrested by State Police detectives, charged with felony murder, and taken to the Kennebec County Jail.  She is the second person charged in connection with the death of Andrew Sherman, who was found dead inside his Richmond home October 11.  Detectives say Sherman likely died in late September. 42 year old Tyon Shuron of Augusta was arrested February 6 and charged with murder.

Troop D weekly activities for time March 2nd to March 8th, 2020

On 3/2/2020 Cpl. Robinson and Tr. Bureau assisted the Maine Warden Service and other local Police Departments with the Special Olympics in Belfast at their annual swim meet. 

On 3/3/2020 Trooper’s Dunn, Belanger, and Stevens conducted a bail check of Jasmine Jackson (24) at her house in West Gardiner. Jackson was summonsed for VCR for a bail violation.

On 03/04/20 at approximately 2350 hours, Trooper LiBritz stopped a vehicle near mile 37 southbound for a plate light out. Upon further investigation it was determined the operator, EHREN DWORAK (49-Year-old male from Arundel), was on conditions of release and he had an active warrant for failure to appear. DWORAK was arrested on the warrant and transported to the York County Jail.
