Thursday, April 30, 2020, Trooper Michael Smith retired from the Maine State Police. He served on the Honor Guard as bugler and brought a great amount of solace to grieving State Troopers and First Responder families in their darkest hours. Michael was the best Honor Guard bugler the Honor Guard has had the privilege of working with. His discipline was second to none as he was best under the most difficult circumstances. Michael was presented with his retired Honor Guard plate #5 and medallion #5. This number will no longer be used in the Honor Guard as a sign of respect for his dedication to the Honor Guard ceremonial discipline. Lt. Tilsley presented Mike with a plaque in honor of his 22 years of State Police service.
