  • Hudson Man Killed in Palmyra Crash

    Palmyra FatalMaine State Police from Troop C are investigating a fatal crash involving a man from Hudson.
    On Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020, at 2:13 a.m., Maine State Police Troop C Troopers responded to 156 Warren Hill Road in Palmyra for a report of a crash involving a single vehicle with numerous injuries.
     
    Upon arrival and investigation into the crash, Troopers learned that Adam Webber (25) of Hudson Maine was killed in the crash, and six occupants in his 2005 Ford F350 all sustained serious injuries as a result of the truck’s impact. The occupants were transported for medical treatment to Sebasticook Valley Hospital. 
     
    The case remains under investigation, but speed and alcohol were both likely factors in the crash. 
     
    Anyone with information regarding the crash should contact the Maine State Police Troop C in Skowhegan at 207-624-7076 and ask to speak with Trooper Garrett Booth.

  • Troop G Weekly Report 08/31/2020 - 09/06/2020

    On 08/31/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Caleb Emerson (23) of Freemont, NH on the ME Turnpike northbound at the Saco Tolls.  He was arrested and charged with Operating Under the Influence of Drugs (Refusal).

    On 09/01/2020, Cpl. Physic pulled over Charmagn Cody for erratic operation.  Cody admitted she had been drinking, did SFST’s, and Cpl. Physic arrested her for OUI.  Cody also had bail conditions and a suspended driver’s license.  Cody was charged with OUI, Violating Conditions of Release, and Operating after Suspension.

    On 09/02/2020, Sgt. Doughty stopped Jaime Jimino (43) of Portland for traveling 84 MPH in a 70 MPH zone on the Turnpike in New Gloucester. Jimino had a suspended license status due to unpaid fines. Sgt. Doughty cited him for operating after suspension and speeding.

    On 09/02/2020, Tr. Welch cited Terry Bothwell (26) of Biddeford for operating after suspension on the Turnpike in Wells.

    On 09/02/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Elijah Enman (22) of Rangeley on the ME Turnpike southbound in Lewiston.  He was charged with Criminal Speed for traveling more than 30 MPH over the posted 70 MPH speed limit.

    On 09/02/2020, Tr. Darcy charged Travis Burton (47) of Topsham with Operating after Revocation as the result of a traffic stop northbound on the Turnpike in Arundel.

    On 09/03/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Nicholas Martin (29) of Old Orchard Beach on the ME Turnpike northbound in Portland.  He was charged with Criminal Speed for traveling more than 30 MPH over the posted 50 MPH work zone speed limit.

    On 09/03/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Jonata MBongo (21) of Westbrook on the ME Turnpike northbound in Portland.  He was charged with Criminal Speed for traveling more than 30 MPH over the posted 50 MPH work zone speed limit.

    On 09/03/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Thomas Dyer (31) of Portland on the ME Turnpike southbound in Portland.  He was charged with Criminal Speed for traveling more than 30 MPH over the posted 50 MPH work zone speed limit.

    On 09/04/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Yvan Charlot (35) of Mattapan, MA on the ME Turnpike northbound in Hallowell.  He was arrested and charged with Operating under the Influence.  His BrAC was over the legal limit.

    On 09/04/2020, Sgt. Pappas arrested Kathy Abrams of New Hampshire for OUI.

    On 09/04/2020, Tr. Williams arrested Daniel Fitzgerald of York for OUI.

    On 09/05/2020, Tr. Keim stopped Jessica A. Dumais (44) of Poland for speeding.  Dumais was traveling 76 MPH in a posted 50 MPH construction zone.  After running a license and registration check, Tr. Keim obtained information that Dumais’ registration was under suspension.  Dumais was charged with speeding and operating a vehicle with a suspended registration.

    On 09/06/2020, Cpl. Physic pulled over Javon Walker for traveling 101 MPH in a 70 MPH zone.  Walker admitted he had been drinking, did SFST’s and Cpl. Physic arrested him for OUI.  Walker also had a suspended driver license status out of Florida and Maine.  Walker was charged with Operating w/out a License, OUI, and Criminal Speed.

    On 09/06/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Robert Torrey (30) of Biddeford on the ME Turnpike northbound in Portland.  He was charged with Criminal Speed for traveling more than 30 MPH over the posted 50 MPH work zone speed limit.

    On 09/06/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Steven Leifheit (25) of N. Berwick on the ME Turnpike southbound in Portland.  He was charged with Criminal Speed for traveling more than 30 MPH over the posted work zone speed limit.

    On 09/07/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Benjamin Pineo (23) of Cape Elizabeth on the ME Turnpike northbound in Portland with Criminal Speed for traveling more than 30 MPH over the posted work speed limit (103 MPH).

    On 09/07/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Christopher Leavitt (32) of N. Waterboro on Main Street in Westbrook.  He was charged with Operating after Suspension and Possession of a Suspended License.

    Sgt. Pappas arrested 3 individuals from Massachusetts for aggravated trafficking following a traffic stop in which 176 grams of fentanyl and 60 grams of cocaine were seized.  Cpl. Duda, in addition to Troopers Williams, Darcy, and LiBritz, assisted.

    Tr. Kristy LiBritz organized a group from Troop G to support and participate in the Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit the Special Olympics. It is a virtual event from August 14th to September 30th. Our goal is to cover at least 109 miles! This is symbolic of our Troop’s coverage area and we are excited to share our results upon completion.

    Sergeant Jeff Ingemi and Trooper Andy Foss assisted Animal Control and State Humane Agents in Crawford with the removal of some dangerous dogs.  While there, Eric Bacon (43) of Crawford became combative and was arrested for Assault and Obstructing Government Administration. 

    09-03-20

    Trooper Dana Austin stopped a motor vehicle for multiple traffic violations in Hancock, as a result of the investigation, Nathan Drost (28) of Sullivan was arrested for Operating Under the Influence of Drugs. Trooper Gavin Endre assisted.

    09-04-20

    Sergeant Jeff Ingemi summonsed Ian Campbell (37) of Lubec, for Operating After Suspension after a traffic stop in Wesley.

    09-05-20

    Trooper Kim Sawyer arrested Michael Lursen (25) of Calais for Operating Under the Influence after a complainant found him passed out behind the wheel of a running motor vehicle partially in the roadway in Big Lake Township. 

    09-06-20

    Trooper Owen Reed responded to a theft complaint in Blue Hill where a town speed sign was reported stolen.  Investigation continues.

  • Machiasport Fatal Crash

    Maine State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Machiasport Wednesday evening.

    On Sept. 9, 2020, at approximately 7:17 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a fatal crash on the Port Road in Machiasport involving a car and a motorized bicycle. The bicycle rider, Garrett Sprague, 15, of Machiasport, died as a result of his injuries.  The vehicle involved was a 2011 Buick LaCrosse driven by Caleb Norton, 20, of Machiasport.  Norton was driving east while the bicycle was traveling west, and the collision occurred in the eastbound lane. Troopers learned that the motorized bicycle was in the on-coming lane for unknown reasons.  

    Trooper Andy Foss responded as the primary investigator and was assisted at the scene by Sergeant Jeff Ingemi, Corporal Micah Perkins, Troop Investigator Josh Lander, and Washington County Sheriff’s Department.  A crash reconstruction and forensic mapping are being conducted along with a vehicle autopsy. 
     
    Poor visibility is a factor in this crash where there was thick fog at the time of the crash. 

    Machiasport Fire Department and Machias Ambulance also assisted.  Investigation continues.

    Daniel F. Beauregard, 76, of Adison

    UPDATE: Beauregard has been located. Washing to County Sheriff's Office is primary. 

    Washington County Sheriff’s Office has issued a Silver Alert for Daniel F. Beauregard, 76, of Adison. Mr. Beauregard was last seen leaving Downeast Community Hospital in Machias on Sept. 8, 2020, at approximately 6:30 p.m. Mr. Beauregard is described as a white man, 5’6” tall, 209 lbs, with brown eyes and brown hair. He has undocumented mental faculty issues. He was driving a 2014 Red Ford Focus, with Maine license plate 7893A2. Anyone who has information about his whereabouts or sees him should call 911 or the Washington County Regional Communication Center 207-255-8308.

  • Human Remains Found in Sherman

    Maine State Police Detectives were called to Sherman yesterday because of human remains discovered in the woods near mile 269 off Interstate 95.  The remains have been transported to the Medical Examiner’s office in Augusta where an exam will be conducted later.  It is believed that the remains are those of an adult male.  Investigators are working on determining the identity of the deceased.  No foul play is suspected.

    Trooper:                   Tr. Desrosier

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier was conducting traffic enforcement in Frenchville and observed a vehicle speeding.  He conducted a traffic stop and discovered the male driver had a suspended Maine driver’s license for not paying child support and for an OUI.  Tr. Desrosier issued the man a criminal summons and had him arrange for transportation.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Castonguay was patrolling on the Cold Brook Road, Island Falls, when he observed a vehicle with defective equipment.  He conducted a traffic stop and suspected the female driver was impaired.  After conducting Field Sobriety Testing, the woman was arrested for OUI and transported to the Aroostook County Jail for a breath test.  After the test, she was able to post bail and was released.

    Brief Synopsis:       HRCC received a 911 call from a male subject who advised he was just assaulted and had to point a firearm at the man that was assaulting him. Tr. Cotton, Sgt. Fuller, Tr. Mahon and ARSO responded to the scene. Ultimately, it was learned the C1 was trying to buy a shed from the R1 who lived down the road and then decided to buy elsewhere. The R1 went to the C1’s house and they both go into a fight. The R1 then got the C1 in a chokehold to the point where he had difficulty breathing and could not get out of the hold, so the C1 pulled out his revolver and pointed it at the R1. After numerous interviews of involved parties and witnesses, the R1 was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Mahon responded to a report of a threatening. It was reported that a local woman made a statement threatening to shoot the neighbor if the police responded. As a result, from the investigation Tr. Mahon arrested the local woman and she was charged with Terrorizing (Class D) and Harassment (Class E).

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Rider received a PO violation complaint that involved two individuals who have PO violations on each other.  Tr. Rider learned that one of the individuals have been calling and texting the other individual.  Tr. Rider is still trying to interview both parties.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Casavant assisted the US Marshal Service with a warrant arrest for a local woman in Madawaska who had a fully extraditable warrant.  The woman was arrested without incident and turned over to jail officials from Somerset SO.

    Trooper Dana Austin stopped a motor vehicle for a traffic violation in Hancock, as a result of the inveatigation, Deborah Sinclair (51) of Sullivan was arrested for Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, Violation of Conditional Release and Operating after Suspension. Jennifer Cote (44) of Smyrna was arrested for Unlawful Possession of Methampetamine, and Heather Mullen (33) of Hancock was arrested for Violation of Conditional Release. Trooper Austin was assisted by Corporal Christopher Smith, Trooper Gavin Endre, the Maine Warden Service, and the Hancock County Sheriffs Office.

    Trooper Gavin Endre conducted a traffic stop on Route 1A in Ellsworth. Throughout the investigation Jade Marsh (35) of the Bangor area was charged with possession of Schedule W Drugs, Dylan Belanger (27) of Corinth was arrested for Possession of Schedule W Drugs.

    Trooper Dana Austin responded to Orland for a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrain. A vehicle had struck a pedestrian who was walking on the Front Ridge Road. Only minor injuries were observed on the pedestrian.

  • Hancock Crash

    At around 7:20 am this morning there was a motor vehicle crash involving a dump truck and SUV on the Washington Junction Rd. in the town of Hancock.  The driver of the dump truck, Michael Fraser (56) of Holden crossed into the opposite lane. The operator of the SUV Jason Farnsworth (64) of Bucksport was travelling in the opposite direction and attempted to avoid the dump truck. The dump truck crashed into the passenger side of the SUV and then the dump truck rolled onto its side. Both operators suffered broken bones as a result of the crash and were transported to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth.   The dump truck is owned by Wellman Paving out of Winterport. What caused Fraser to travel into the opposite lane is still under investigation.  Tr. Blaine Silk is the primary investigator and was assisted by several Troopers, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office and the Hancock Fire Dept.
