    State Police say the man who died at a Squire Court residence in Winthrop Saturday night was shot to death. The State Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled the death a homicide. Investigators continue to investigate the circumstances of the death. The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Joshua Martin, formerly of Rochester, NY. Martin was last known to be staying in the Augusta area.   

    Investigators will continue to review evidence, the autopsy results and interviews in consultation with the Attorney General’s office.

    State and Winthrop police are investigating a death at Squire Court in Winthrop. On the evening of Oct. 3, 2020, at approximately 10:53 p.m. Winthrop Police received a call reporting the death. The Winthrop Police Department responded and requested the State Police Major Crimes Unit. Investigators worked throughout the night and into this morning. That work will continue Sunday. 

    This is being investigated as a suspicious death. The Medical Examiners office responded to the residence last evening and will be conducting an autopsy today (Oct. 4, 2020) or tomorrow (Oct. 5, 2020).

    Sidney Fatal CrashOne person is dead after a crash in Sidney.

    Turnpike CrashOn September 30, 2020 at approximately 1:27 a.m., David Hand (28), of New Jersey, fell asleep and drove off the roadway to the right striking the guardrail in the area of mile marker 77 northbound on the Turnpike in Auburn. Hand was operating a tractor trailer unit that was hauling produce.

    Saab Maine State Police are investigating a crash caused by a wrong way driver on I-95.

    On Sept. 20, 2020 at approximately 2:09 p.m., Augusta Regional Communication Center received a complaint of a wrong way driver traveling north bound in the south bound lane around mile marker 58 on the Maine Turnpike in Cumberland.

    On 09/21/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Jacob Robitaille (34) of Leeds on the ME Turnpike northbound in Sabattus.  He was arrested and charged with Operating Under the Influence.  His BrAC was over the legal limit.
