    Trooper Owen Reed summonsed Ayla Allen (26) of Deer Isle, for Operating After Suspension after a traffic stop in Sedgwick.

    Trooper Owen Reed responded to a trespassing complaint in Blue Hill.

    Trooper Owen Reed responded to a criminal mischief complaint in Deer Isle where graffiti was painted on the roadway.  Investigation continues.

  • Troop G Weekly Report 07/13/2020 - 07/19/2020

    On 07/13/2020, at approximately 0630 hours, Tr. LiBritz responded from the Turnpike to assist with a traffic stop in Brownfield in Oxford County. Cpl. Hink requested assistance searching a female they had detained. Trooper LiBritz assisted in the rural patrol and cleared without incident.

    On 07/15/2020, Tr. Loder recovered a vehicle whose owner reported it stolen to Saco Police. The vehicle had apparently been left in the Exit 25W park & ride lot by the owner’s ex-boyfriend, who refused to return it after their breakup in May. Tr. Keim assisted.

    On 07/15/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Andrea Weymouth (59) of Turner on the ME Turnpike northbound in Portland. She was charged with Operating after Suspension and Possession of a Suspended License.

    On 07/15/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Grace Owens (23) of Medford, MA on the ME Turnpike northbound in Kennebunk. She was charged with Criminal Speed for traveling more than 30 MPH over the posted 70-MPH speed limit.

    On 07/17/2020, at 0430 hours, Cpl. Duda charged Joshua Helie (27) with exceeding the speed limit by 30 MPH or more. Cpl. Duda clocked Helie traveling at 84 MPH and 92 MPH in a 50 MPH construction zone near mile marker 48 southbound in Portland.

    On 07/17/2020, Sgt. Pappas arrested Isaac Botting and Seth Hutchinson, both of Saco, for unlawful of trafficking scheduled drugs after seizing 45 grams of fentanyl during a traffic stop on I-95. Tr. Wilkinson and K9 Pinny conducted the stop.

    On 07/17/2020, Cpl. Physic responded to the West Gardiner service plaza for a civil complaint. An 18-year-old female was trying to run off with a man who was older than her, and her grandparents were trying to stop her. Cpl. Physic explained to the grandparents that she was 18 years old, so she could legally leave, and the older guy was not breaking the law.

    On 07/18/2020, Cpl. Duda conducted a traffic stop near mile marker 7 northbound. After a short investigation and interview, Amber White (26) of Waterville admitted to having heroin on her person. White retrieved the half finger of heroin and gave it to Cpl. Duda. It was later found to be 7 grams. She was charged with possession of schedule W drugs.

    On 07/18/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Ethan Gross (27) of Portland on the ME Turnpike southbound in Portland. He was charged with Criminal Speed for traveling more than 30 MPH over the posted work zone construction speed limit.

    On 07/18/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped a 16-year-old male from Windham on the ME Turnpike southbound in Portland. He was charged with Criminal Speed for traveling more than 30 MPH over the posted work zone construction speed limit, and his mother was contacted.

    On 07/19/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped a 58-year-old male from New Gloucester on the ME Turnpike northbound in Portland. His vehicle registration was found to be under Suspension for Tolls, and the vehicle was towed. The operator was not charged and will be following up with MTA and BMV to rectify the issue. 

    On 07/19/2020, Tr. Loder responded to a camper fire near mile 13 that caused significant northbound traffic delays. According to the York Fire Department, the fire started in a propane-powered refrigerator inside the towable camper. Tr. Flynn and Sgt. Burton assisted.

  • Newburgh Silver Alert

    Cindy L. Dunton, 58, of Newburgh

    UPDATE: Ms. Dunton has been located alive a short distance from her home. 

    NEWBURGH, Maine – A Silver Alert has been activated for Cindy L. Dunton, 58, of Newburgh, Maine. Ms. Dunton, who has dementia, was last seen at 8 a.m. on July 21, 2020, and may be accompanied by two golden retrievers. She is 5’0”, 160 lbs.,  with brown eyes and brown hair. She is most likely on foot. Anyone who has seen or has information about Ms. Dunton should call 911 or 207-973-3700.

  • Troop F Weekly Report 07-20 to 07-26-20

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier was parked in St. Francis when he was approached by a concerned citizen reporting that she knew where a man was staying that had an active arrest warrant for violation of bail due to an arson charge.  Tr. Desrosier located that man and took him into custody and transported him to the ACJ.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier was conducting traffic enforcement in the town of Wallagrass when he observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on the Aroostook Rd.  Tr. Desrosier clocked the vehicle’s speed at 82 mph in a posted 45 mph zone.  The vehicle attempted to elude Tr. Desrosier by taking a side road and parking in a private drive.  Tr. Desrosier issued a summons for criminal speed.  This will be the second time Tr. Desrosier has summonsed the driver for criminal speed in less than a year.

    Brief Synopsis: Tr. Cotton was patrolling Rt. 159 in Crystal when he observed a vehicle with a loud exhaust. Tr. Cotton initiated a traffic stop and learned that the operator was suspended. Tr. Cotton summonsed the male and a licensed driver in the car could drive the vehicle home.

    Brief Synopsis:   Tr. Cotton was patrolling the Oakfield area when he observed a vehicle without functioning plate lights. Tr. Cotton initiated a traffic stop and observed an open container of alcohol tucked behind the center console of the vehicle. Ultimately the operator was told to dump the container of alcohol out and was issued a summons for the open container.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Cotton initiated a traffic stop in I95 for a motor vehicle defect. An investigation revealed that the operator had a conditional license from a previous OUI and was on bail not to use of possess alcohol. Ultimately Tr. Cotton took the male to ACJ for an intox test where he had a BRaC 0.01. Tr. Cotton summonsed the male for the VCR and operating without a license in violation of license restrictions or conditions.

    Brief Synopsis: Tr. Rider assisted Ashland PD locating two individuals with temp. warrants out for their arrest for assault and aggravated Criminal mischief.  Tr Rider located and arrested one suspect at a residence in Masardis.  The other suspect fled in a blue single cab Chevy pickup. Tr Rider initiated his emergency blue lights and siren and the pickup did not stop.  Tr. Rider lost sight of the truck around the Masardis Mill.  Tr. Rider and Ashland PD was unable to locate the vehicle.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Curtin located a local man and arrested him on a warrant for Obstructing Government Administration and Violation Conditions of Arrest.  He was arrested without incident.

    Brief Synopsis:       Cpl. Michaud was patrolling a secondary road in Presque Isle that had seen an increase in traffic due to Route 1 construction.  He had focused his efforts near a local horse stable where horse riders and owners are often seen near the roadway.  He passed a woman walking her horse and met a vehicle that was traveling just under 80 MPH in a 45 MPH zone.  The woman reported that she had slowed down when she went past the woman and her horse but was not sure how fast she had been going.  She was cited for her speed.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Mahon was on Route 1 in Monticello when he watched a vehicle make a U-Turn in front of him and accelerate at a high rate of speed.  He was able to get the vehicle on radar at 67 MPH in a 30 MPH zone.  The vehicle then passed other cars in a poor spot.  Tr. Mahon was able to catch up to the vehicle and stop it.  He cited the driver for his speed and the improper pass.

    Trooper:                   Tr. Mahon

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Mahon was in Hodgdon investigating a complaint of a local man driving in the area without a license.  Tr. Mahon confirmed that the man’s license was suspended as a habitual offender and that he was out on 3 sets of bail conditions.  After being in the area for a short time, Tr. Mahon spotted the man as he passed a vehicle at a high rate of speed while operating a motorcycle.  He was able to get the motorcycle stopped and confirmed that it was the man he had been looking for.  The man was arrested and charged with Felony Operating After Habitual Offender Revocation / Speeding / Violation of Conditions of Release/ and attaching False Plates to the motorcycle.  He was transported to jail, and the motorcycle was towed.

    Trooper Andy Foss conducted a well-being check in Cooper.  Everyone was found to be okay at this time.

    07-21-20

    Trooper Kim Sawyer arrested Bruce Smith (65) of Lincoln for Operating Under the Influence - Drugs after he was found unconscious in his truck and Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were performed.  A Drug Recognition Evaluation was completed.  It was determined that he was under the influence of narcotics and he was transported to the Washington County Jail.  Warden Tyler Leach assisted.

    07-23-20

    Trooper Caleb McGary summonsed a juvenile from Charleston, for Criminal Speed and Driving to Endanger after a traffic stop in Dedham.  98 in a 55 zone.

    07-24-20

    Trooper Caleb McGary responded to a crash in Dedham where the operator, Georgie Connell (21) of Hancock, was arrested for Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol and Violation of Conditional Release. 

    Trooper Dana Austin responded to Sullivan for a report of an intoxicated driver. Trooper Austin and Marine Patrol Office Tim Cormier located the intoxicated driver on a tote road. The male was uncooperative and subsequently taken into custody. The male, Ricky Skillings (42) of Sullivan, was arrested for Operating under the Influence, Operating After Habitual Offender Revocation, Unlawful Possession of Schedule Drugs, and Refusing to submit to arrest. Trooper Austin and Officer Cormier were assisted by Sergeant Tim Varney and the Maine Warden Service.

    07-25-20

    Trooper Blaine Silk responded to a theft complaint at a business in Orland. As a result of the investigation an employee of the business Catherine O’Donnell (31) of Orland was charged with Theft.

    Trooper Caleb McGary summonsed Tyler Harmon (31) of Dedham, for Driving to Endanger after a traffic stop in Dedham.

    07-26-20

    Sergeant Jeff Ingemi summonsed Darin Botting (34) of Chelsea, for Operating after Suspension after a traffic stop in Mattawamkeag.  Trooper Rob Flynn assisted.

    Trooper Caleb McGary responded to a criminal mischief complaint in Mariaville where a garage window was damaged.  Investigation continues.

    Trooper Caleb McGary responded to a theft in Hancock where it was reported that campaign signs had been stolen.  Investigation continues.

  • Troop G Weekly Report 07/20/2020 - 07/26/2020

    On 07/21/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Todd Hood (33) of Auburn on the ME Turnpike northbound in Gray.  His registration was found to be Suspended for Tolls and he did not have a license.  He was charged with Operating Without a License and his vehicle was towed.

    On 07/21/2020, Tr. Welch arrested Joseph J. Esty (33) of Madbury, NH for DV Assault at the southbound service plaza in Kennebunk.

    On 07/21/2020, Cpl. Physic participated in the drug operation that occurred throughout the state.

    On 07/21/2020, Augusta RCC received a complaint of a possible domestic incident in a motor vehicle NB from MM 1 in Kittery.  Tr. MacKinnon, Tr. Loder, and Tr. Spicer attempted to locate the MV.  The cellphone was pinged and last showed the location in Kennebunk, with a statement heard from a male that they were en route to Biddeford to buy heroin.  A reverse listing was done on the cell phone number and a residence in Kennebunk was checked with the assistance of Kennebunk PD.  The female at the residence denied any assault and had no visible marks and was believed to be unrelated to the call.  The cellphone was turned off and no owner information was able to be obtained from the carrier since it was a Tracphone.  A teletype was put out with limited information.

    On 07/22/2020, at approximately 0635 hours, Tr. LiBritz was dispatched to a rollover crash in the area of mile 35 northbound in Saco.  It was reported that a Jeep was tailgating, then ran into a tractor trailer unit and rolled over multiple times prior to stopping off the roadway.  Upon further investigation, it appeared the Jeep was speeding in the fast lane when it came up behind another vehicle.  It was reported the Jeep whipped into the middle lane and made contact with the tractor trailer unit, causing the Jeep to spin out and roll over.  The driver of the Jeep was transported to Maine Medical Center for further evaluation, but the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

    On 07/22/2020, Cpl. Duda investigated a theft of 7 cartons of cigarettes from the Cumberland service plaza.  Tr. Davis stopped the suspected vehicle a short while later near mile marker 82. The male subject, Luke Doering, later admitted to smashing the display cabinet and stealing the cigarette cartons.  Doering consented to a search of his vehicle.  Subsequently, Doering was found to be in possession of the cigarette cartons as well as 317.5 Xanax pills, 21 Adderall pills, 63 LSD tabs, 28 grams of molly, a small amount of cocaine, and $8,020.00 cash.  K9 Mack indicated on the interior of the vehicle.  Doering was charged accordingly.

    On 07/22/2020, Cpl. Physic spoke at career day that took place at the YWCA in Lewiston.

    On 07/23/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Joshua Mackaman (20) of York on the ME Turnpike southbound in Saco.  He was charged with Criminal Speed for traveling more than 30 MPH over the posted speed limit.

    On 07/24/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Mark L. Thibault (30) of Mount Laurel, NJ on the ME Turnpike northbound in Portland.  He was charged with Criminal Speed for traveling more than 30 MPH over the posted work zone speed limit.

    On 07/24/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Matthew King (28) of Somerville, MA on the ME Turnpike northbound in Portland.  He was charged with Criminal Speed for traveling more than 30 MPH over the posted work zone speed limit.

    On 07/25/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Damon D. Bolden (50) of Westbrook on the ME Turnpike southbound in Portland.  He was charged with Operating After Suspension.

    On 07/25/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Tyler Wing (21) of Epping, NH on the ME Turnpike southbound in Arundel.  He was arrested on a warrant for Failure to Appear for misdemeanor motor vehicle offenses and taken to the York County Jail.

    On 07/25/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Ryan Ackerman (33) of Winslow on the ME Turnpike northbound in Kennebunk.  He was charged with Operating After Suspension and Violation of Conditions of Release.

    On 07/25/2020, Cpl. Duda investigated a single vehicle crash at mile marker 27 northbound.  The operator, a 31-year-old female, stated that she fell asleep driving.  She hit the ditch and launched the vehicle approximately 15 feet into the air, coming to rest approximately 20 feet into the woods, striking several small trees and just missing several large trees.  Her boyfriend, a 36-year-old male of South Boston, was combative during his interaction with medical personnel.  He is being treated at Maine Medical Center with a broken back.

    On 07/26/2020, Tr. Keim stopped a 17-year-old male of Sanford for 82 MPH in a posted 50 MPH construction zone.  The male stated he was not paying attention.

    On 07/26/2020, Tr. Keim stopped Kenneth Henderson (30) of Old Orchard Beach for 99 MPH in a posted 70 MPH zone.  Henderson also had 4 children in the vehicle with him.  After running a license check, Tr. Keim obtained information that Henderson was under suspension in Vermont.  Henderson was charged with speed and operating without a license.

    Tr. Keim stopped Brenna Blechorn (25) of MA for 81 MPH in a posted 50 MPH zone in South Portland.  Blechorn stated that she did not know she was in a construction zone.  Blechorn was charged with criminal speed.

    Tr. Keim stopped Ashley Ross of Minot for 91 MPH in a posted 50 MPH construction zone in York.  Ross also had a baby in the backseat.  Ross was charged with criminal speed.

    Tr. Kristy LiBritz spent the week volunteering and coaching two teams at the New Gloucester Rec cheerleading clinic. 

  • Fugitive Arrested Ending Wilton Manhunt

    Derrell Guy, 34, of Lynn, Mass.

    State Police have arrested Derell Guy, 34, of Lynn, Mass., without incident.

    On July 27, 2020, at approximately 10:30 a.m., the Wilton Police Department stopped a vehicle on Route 2 in the town of Wilton where Guy was a passenger. Guy, who was wanted on a criminal arrest warrant out of Massachusetts for Armed Robbery and Murder, fled on foot and remained at large overnight.

    At 11:30 a.m. on July 28, 2020, Maine State Police received credible information of a confirmed sighting of Guy behind a residence on Earth Way in the town of Carthage.

    Multiple law enforcement agencies immediately responded and saturated the area. After a brief K-9 track with the Maine State Police Tactical Team, Guy was located at approximately 1 p.m. and taken into custody without incident. He was located on the Winter Hill Road in Carthage, Maine, approximately 6 miles from where he was initially stopped.

    Guy has been transported to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office where the U.S. Marshals Service will be charging him with being a fugitive from justice and Guy will await extradition from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. 

    This operation was a combined effort from the Maine State Police, Maine Warden Service, Maine Forest Service, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Wilton Police Department, Department of Corrections, U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Marshals Service, the Maine State Police Tactical Team and Maine State Police Crisis Negotiation Team. 

    We would like to thank the members within the surrounding communities for their continued support and the ongoing information that was provided.

  • Auburn Death Investigation

    Major Crimes South was called to Auburn to assist in the investigation where a man died after an altercation in a parking lot on Center Street. 

    On July 29, 2020, at approximately 8:37 p.m., Auburn Police were called to 138 Center Street to the McDonald’s parking lot for a reported altercation. 

    A man in his early twenties was injured, transported to CMMC, where he later died as result of the altercation. Multiple subjects fled the scene in a vehicle prior to the arrival of officers. State Police and Auburn Police Detectives are conducting interviews to obtain more information about the circumstances surrounding the incident. An autopsy will be performed at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta on Thursday (July 30). The victim’s identity is not being released pending notification of next of kin. 

    There is no threat to the public.
