THOMASTON, Maine ? A portion of Route 1 in Thomaston is due for reconstruction, and MaineDOT is holding a public meeting on Thursday, August 25th from 6-8 pm at Watts Hall, 174 Main Street, in Thomaston to discuss the proposed project.
PORTLAND, Maine ? This weekend, motorists who access I-295 Southbound by traveling south from Falmouth to Portland on Route 1 will need to find an alternate route as the southbound Veranda Street on-ramp will be closed so construction crews can repair a bridge joint on the St. Lawrence and Atlantic RR overpass on I-295 Southbound.
Working on this particular aspect of the I-295 project will require that the southbound on-ramp from Veranda Street onto I-295 be closed beginning this coming Friday, August 12 at 7 p.m. The ramp is expected to reopen by 6 a.m. on Monday, August 15.
EDMUNDS TOWNSHIP, Maine ? Starting Monday, August 22, MaineDOT will be closing a portion of the South Edmunds Road in order to repair a culvert that was damaged last December in a storm that dumped close to seven inches of rain in portions of Washington County.
BANGOR, Maine ? Starting on Monday, August 22, traffic patterns on I-395 over the Veterans Remembrance Bridge will change causing possible delays for motorists.
On Monday, August 22, traffic heading eastbound over the bridge from Bangor to Brewer will be shifted to the right-hand lanes in order for construction crews to work on the center lanes of the bridge.
WESTBROOK, Maine ? Starting next Friday, August 26 at 7 a.m. construction crews will close Bridge Street in Westbrook in order to install a rail line crossing.
Bridge Street will be closed from the intersection of Cumberland Street to the intersection of Myrtle Street in Westbrook. Crews plan to close the intersection at 7 a.m. on Friday, August 26, and reopen the intersection by 7 a.m. on Sunday, August 28.
Motorists will be directed to a signed detour that includes Cumberland Street, Brown Street and Myrtle Street during the detour.

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine ? MaineDOT crews must close the McBurnie Road in Presque Isle in order to replace a deteriorating culvert.
Starting Monday, August 22, the McBurnie Road will be closed for 12 days, and is scheduled to reopen on Friday, September 2. During that time, the road will be closed to through traffic. The culvert is located approximately 1.7 miles north of the intersection of Route 164 with the McBurnie Road.
While the McBurnie Road is closed, motorists will be directed to a signed detour that uses Route 164, Route 1 and the Doyle Road.
NORWAY, Maine ? MaineDOT crews are set to begin bridge construction on Cottage Street in Norway starting Monday, August 29.
Crews will be replacing the traveling surface of the Bird Brook Bridge on Cottage Street in Norway, and during the construction, there will be one-way, alternating traffic regulated by signs.
If there are no unexpected delays, construction is expected to be completed within eight weeks. Motorists are asked to obey all posted signs in the construction zone.
