- Line Up Procedure
For the safe, orderly and efficient loading of vehicles onto the ferry, the following rules will apply.
Location of Staging Line
- The non-reserved vehicle line begins at the stop sign near the free-standing generator on route to the loading ramp.
- The line then continues across McKay Road in the upper perimeter of the large parking lot.
- Overflow staging line will then run along the backside of the terminal building to the stop sign.
Rules for Staging Line
- Customers who do not have reservations should proceed to the back of the staging line. A line agent will come to the vehicle to scan tickets before boarding. It is important that you always remain with your vehicle once you have put your vehicle in the staging line.
- If you are not in your vehicle when we come to scan your tickets, we reserve that right to send your vehicle to the back of the line.
- As the line moves forward you must keep the formation without delay.
- Every single vehicle that is in the staging line MUST have the driver in that vehicle while in line. One vehicle, one driver.
- If your vehicle is disabled, we will direct all traffic around your vehicle. Once your vehicle is operational, you will be directed to the end of the line.
- A single swap of a vehicle is allowed. However, at quarter to the hour for departure, the opportunity for swapping a vehicle will close and swapping will NOT be allowed. Swap must be of like vehicle for like vehicle (a passenger vehicle for a passenger vehicle of equal or lessor length, or a truck for a truck with an equal or lessor length.) Any exceptions to this rule will be at the discretion of the Terminal Supervisor.
Rules for Overnight Staging
- There is only one pre-staging*** area. The pre-staging area is on McKay Road, directly adjacent and behind the terminal building on the shore side of the street. Pre-staging may only occur from this location.
***Pre-staging means staging a vehicle in the pre-staging area* for travel on the first ferry of the next day.
- You may pre-stage up to two hours in advance of the last ferry of the day departure time.
- You do not need to remain with the vehicle.
- Vehicles may not be moved to the regular staging line until the last boat of the day has pulled away from the dock.
- Staging line order is “first come first served”.
- Allowance for pre-staging may be suspended, revoked or modified as needed due to exceptionally busy times, weather, boat or crewing issues and or by the Terminal Supervisor’s discretion.
