Paving In Durham

Durham ? Crews are paving approximately six miles of road on Route 136 starting at the Freeport/Durham town line near the Brown Road to the Davis Road. Flaggers will assist motorists in the alternating one-way traffic pattern through the area.

This work, performed by Glidden Excavating and Paving of Gorham, is being done to improve the conditions of the road as well as drainage along the roadway.

It is expected this project will be completed by the end of August.

TIGER Grant Awarded for Rumford Bridge

Rumford ? Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) announced today that the US Department of Transportation will award a TIGER (Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery) grant in the amount of $5.2 million to the state for the replacement of the Martin Memorial Bridge in the town of Rumford.

Senator Collins called MaineDOT Commissioner David Bernhardt Tuesday morning to inform him of the funding. This amount will go toward the total bridge replacement cost of $9.3 million. Work is scheduled to begin in October of 2013.

Portland/Falmouth ? A steel bridge joint repair is currently underway on the Presumscot River Bridge on the Portland-Falmouth town line at mile marker nine. MaineDOT crews will be reducing traffic over the bridge to one lane southbound beginning at 3pm as repair work begins.

Crews will be replacing the steel joint and surrounding concrete.

Crews anticipate traffic will be back open to two lanes around midnight tonight.

Multiple Portland Paving Projects Upcoming

Portland ? There are five paving projects throughout Portland starting in June. Please plan accordingly and allow extra time through the duration of this work. These projects are in addition to any currently underway.

  1. Sundays through Thursdays for several weeks starting on June 24th: From 7pm until 7am, Outer Congress Street from Stevens Avenue to Johnson Road will be paved. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.

Presumscot River Bridge Repairs Set For Sunday Night

Portland/Falmouth ? Crews will return to the Presumscot River Bridge on the Portland-Falmouth town line on Sunday evening to continue the repair of a bridge joint on the surface deck. To minimize any travel impacts, the southbound side will be reduced to one lane starting at 8pm, and will re-open to both lanes in time for the Monday morning commute.

More permanent repairs are anticipated in the fall.

Traffic Restricted on Route 136 in Durham

Durham ? MaineDOT was forced to take steps to ensure public safety by reducing Route 136 in Durham northbound to one lane for approximately one half mile. The area is one and a half miles north of Durham Center near the intersection of Snow Road. Alternating one-way traffic, controlled by signals, will be in place as crews monitor the stability of the bank along the Androscoggin River in this area. Geologic conditions combined with heavy rains from two weeks ago have potentially compromised the integrity of a portion of this road due to continued erosion of the river bank.

Brewer-Orrington Road Work Starts Sunday Night

Brewer/Orrington ? Paving work, guardrail repair and curb installation begins on Route 15 (South Main Street) in Orrington on Sunday night, June 24th. The work will begin just before Cleveland Avenue in Orrington and extend approximately one half mile into Brewer to just past Elm Street.

This night work, from 7pm to 6am, will be completed using flaggers helping to direct motorists through alternating one-way traffic.

The project is being performed by Lane Construction, Corp. in Hermon and is weather dependant, so dates may change accordingly.
