PORTLAND, Maine ? Preliminary nighttime construction is set to begin tonight (September 8) on an outer portion of Forest Avenue in Portland between the intersection of Riverside Street and the Riverside Industrial Parkway.
Crews will be working tonight at the Riverside Industrial Parkway. Starting Sunday, construction will move onto Forest Avenue.
Due to the volume of traffic on Forest Avenue, all construction work will be done at night between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., Sunday night through Thursday night. During construction, crews will maintain one lane of one way, alternating traffic regulated by flaggers.
Crews will be rebuilding this ? mile portion of Forest Avenue, and also adding sidewalks and bike lanes, and improving utilities.
Motorists who utilize this portion of Forest Avenue during the construction period should expect to experience delays. Construction work is expected to continue into mid-November, suspend for the winter, and finish in June of 2012.
