Farmington ? Starting Thursday, April 19, work crews will begin road construction approximately three miles westerly from the intersection of Routes 156 and 41 to the Wilson Stream Bridge at the Chesterville ? Farmington town line. Motorists should expect short delays due to one way traffic through the work area, with flaggers safely guiding drivers during this period.

Bangor ? Surface treatment on the ?Bullseye Bridge? in Bangor begins on Monday, April 23rd. The project will start at the intersection of Ohio Street and Griffin Street, ending at the intersection of Griffin and Kenduskeag Street, resulting in one way traffic from Kenduskeag Street to Ohio Street.

Farmingdale, ME ? Full construction of the final 800 feet of Route 201 north from Northern Avenue in Farmingdale will begin on April 23. In this work zone, two-way traffic will be maintained during daylight hours, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Overnight single-lane closures will occur with flaggers controlling traffic as crews excavate the road bed and install drainage. The decision to schedule work to occur overnight was made to minimize impacts on traffic flow.

Brunswick ? Starting at 10:00pm tonight, I-295 southbound at mile marker 28 in Brunswick will be closed to traffic for accident reconstruction work.

Motorists will be guided by a variable message sign indicating the closure/detour starting at mile marker 29, then will be detoured at Exit 28.

The closure is not expected to exceed 30 minutes while Maine State Police are on the scene.

Augusta ? MaineDOT crews have closed 4 bridges and monitor others in various areas of the state as heavy rainfall and flooding may cause erosion.

Augusta ? This summer and fall, construction crews throughout the state will be digging, paving and building, which has an immediate positive impact on Maine?s economy. In his State of the State Address in January, Governor LePage highlighted the MaineDOT?s $104 million in additional revenue dedicated to improving the transportation infrastructure in Maine.

Portland, ME. Work on Interstate 295 Northbound (NB) will require overnight closings for three on/off ramps scheduled for Wednesday, May 2, at Portland?s Forest Avenue interchange ? although cooler evenings may force workers to wait for warmer air to arrive before paving can get underway.

Work associated with these overnight ramp closings may take one to two weeks. Highway improvement work can be both weather and temperature dependent, and delays are possible.

Prospect ? The Penobscot Narrows Observatory, located on the grounds of Fort Knox at 711 Fort Knox Road in Prospect, will be open for its sixth season starting Thursday, May 3rd from 10:00am to 5:00pm.

The one-minute elevator ride will take residents and tourists alike to a 360 degree view from 437 feet above the Penobscot River, just a few miles from Penobscot Bay. Located atop the northern tower of the Penobscot Narrows Bridge, the observatory offers spectacular views of the mountains, lakes and portions of Penobscot Bay.

Trenton ? Friday, May 4th marked the grand opening of the Acadia Gateway Center administrative and maintenance facility in Trenton. This transit facility will ease congestion and improve transportation at Acadia National Park, as well as Mount Desert Island, by housing and maintaining the Island Explorer buses. More than thirty of these buses are propane powered, allowing residents and tourists to park their personal vehicles and enjoy the free shuttle service in an environmentally friendly way.

Augusta ? Work has begun on the Augusta Memorial Bridge that spans the Kennebec River. Work includes re-painting and minor steel repair. This necessary re-painting will help prevent further rusting and to maintain the integrity of the structure. The work is expected to continue through November, with little to no traffic impacts.
