Winter Harbor Hit and Run Ruled a Homicide- Nationwide Search Continues

Sometime between Saturday night, June 18, 2022, and the early hours of Sunday morning June 19, 2022, 35-year-old Nicole Mokeme of South Portland was killed in a hit and run at Acadia National Park on the campus of the Schoodic Education and Research Center in Winter Harbor. The death of Ms. Mokeme has been ruled a homicide and the Maine State Police, with assistance from law enforcement partners, continue to search nationwide for 35-year-old Raymond Lester out of Portland Maine, and his vehicle, a 2016 Black BMW X3 SUV bearing Maine Registration 5614WM. The vehicle may have front-end or undercarriage damage.  
There is an active arrest warrant for murder for Lester. If you have any information as to the whereabouts of either Lester or his vehicle please call the Maine State Police at 207-973-3700.

No additional information will be released at this time as to not compromise the integrity of the investigation.

The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit North and Troop J, with assistance from the National Park Service, are investigating the hit and run death of 35-year-old Nicole Mokeme of South Portland that occurred in Acadia National Park on the campus of the Schoodic Education and Research Center sometime between Saturday night (June 18, 2022) and the early hours of Sunday morning (June 19, 2022). The State Police do not believe there is an ongoing public risk and believe this to be an isolated incident. 

The State Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a vehicle that may have been involved. The vehicle is described as a 2016, Black BMW X3 SUV bearing Maine Registration 5614WM registered to a 35-year-old Raymond Lester out of Portland Maine. The vehicle may have front-end or undercarriage damage. If you see or locate this vehicle, do not approach but immediately call the State Police. The attached photo is a stock photo only to represent the vehicle of interest.

Swanville Hit and Run

Maine State Police are looking for assistance from the public in a hit-and-run crash in Swanville. 

On Feb. 25, 2021, Troopers from Troop D responded to a pedestrian struck on the Oak Hill Road in Swanville. The driver fled the scene. The pedestrian had to be Life-Flighted from the scene to an area hospital for critical injuries. Anyone with information regarding the crash should contact Tr. Luke Martin at 207-624-7066.
 

MSP Seek Assistance IDing Man Involved in Hit an Run

Car and SuspectThe Maine State Police is seeking the public’s help in identifying a male operator who fled the scene of a motor vehicle crash on Sept. 18, 2020, at approximately 14 p.m. in the Town of Carmel.

Trooper Cooper Plaisted was dispatched to the report a motor vehicle crash, at the intersection of Dyer Road and Main Road (US Route 2) where the unknown man driving the vehicle and a known juvenile passenger reportedly fled the scene on foot toward Carmel Village.

As a result of the investigation, The Trooper learned that the man made a purchase at the Village Market, prior to the accident. Trooper Plaisted was able to obtain the surveillance Suspect in Marketfootage where the man made a purchase and then left the Market in the vehicle that was involved in the collision, a 2019 black Subaru sedan.
