Violent Offender Task Force Arrest

A South Paris man was arrested as a fugitive from justice earlier this week. 

On Aug. 12, 2020, at approximately 1 p.m., Troopers from Troop B and Agents from the Maine Violent Offender Task Force (US Marshals Service), apprehended Aaron Parsons, 43, of South Paris, ME, at a residence on Gary Street in South Paris.  Parsons was wanted on a warrant from Massachusetts State Police charging him with homicide and a sex assault offense.  The offense occurred in March of 2020 but a warrant was not issued until Aug. 11, 2020.
 
Mass. State Police received a tip earlier today and the Maine Violent Offender Task Force, acting on that tip, met with troopers from Troop B and coordinated the apprehension.  Parsons was arrested without incident, charged as a Fugitive From Justice and transported to the Oxford County jail.  He will be arraigned on Friday morning.
 

Maine Fugitive wanted by Maine State Police arrested in Rochester, New Hampshire

Matthew Thompson, 39, of Lebanon

Maine State Police out of Troop A have been actively looking to arrest a Matthew Thompson, 39, Lebanon, since September of 2018 for a burglary committed in Lebanon in which tools worth hundreds of dollars were stolen from a residence.

Thompson also had an outstanding warrant from an incident on May 22, 2018 in which he and two other defendants attempted to steal a shed in Lebanon and drag it down the street. Thompson was wanted for Violation of Condition of Release from that arrest. Thompson had previously fled from a home in Lebanon when Troopers attempted to arrest him and he was able to evade arrest.

On March 17, 2019, Tpr. Kyle Wells developed information that Thompson was hiding at a home in Rochester, New Hampshire. The State Police requested assistance from the U.S. Marshal-N.H. Joint Fugitive Task Force in assisting in locating and arresting Thompson.

On March 19, 2019, at approximately 8 a.m., the U.S. Marshal-N.H. Joint Fugitive Task Force located Thompson at a home in Rochester and placed him under arrest without incident. Thompson was transported to the Strafford County Jail where he will be held pending extradition back to Maine.

Man wanted on multiple warrants from Connecticut arrested in Maine

SCARBORO, Maine – The Maine State Police in conjunction with the Maine Violent Offender Task Force run by the US Marshals Office, and the Scarborough Police Department arrested a man wanted on multiple warrants out of Connecticut.

Authorities received a tip that Stephen Hluchnik, 50, transient from Connecticut was in the greater Portland area. As a result of the investigation and surveillance, law enforcement observed Hluchnik in the parking lot of a local shopping center and he was taken into custody without incident. The State of Connecticut plans to extradite him soon.
