Sergeant Gavin Endre investigated a report of a family fight in Deer Isle. As a result of the investigation, it was determined that no charges would be filed, and no crimes had occurred.

Corporal Owen Reed investigated a two-car crash in Blue Hill that resulted in injury. The driver of offending vehicle fled the scene. A suspect has been identified and the investigation is ongoing. Hancock Sheriff Office assisted on scene and with the investigation of the crash. Blue Hill Fire Department and Peninsula Ambulance also assisted on scene.

Corporal Jeff Taylor and Trooper Steven Mahon responded to a harassment complaint in Sullivan.  All parties were warned for disorderly conduct. 

Trooper Jarid Leonard took a report of a family fight in Addison. A disorderly conduct and trespass warning for the property where the confrontation took place was issued.

Trooper Kim Sawyer summoned Jordan Whiting (30) of Bancroft for Operating After Suspension Infraction after stopping the vehicle on Route 1 in Danforth for a motor vehicle violation.

Sergeant Jeff Ingemi arrested Bobbi-Sue Kierstead (38) of Calais, for having an active warrant for her arrest after a traffic stop in Baring.  Kierstead was also summonsed for Violation of Conditions of Release for possessing alcohol.

Corporal Owen Reed responded to a noise complaint in Deer Isle. Investigation revealed that no crimes had been committed and parties had already separated before the police arrived.

Corporal Owen Reed responded to a single vehicle crash on the Caterpillar Hill Road in Sedgwick. It was determined that the driver Steven Morey (30) of Stonington had been fatigued and drifted left across the centerline. His vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a tree. No injuries were reported, and no charges were filed based on the investigation on scene.

Trooper Jarid Leonard stopped a vehicle in Machias for passenger not being secured with a seatbelt. As a result of the stop, it was determined that the driver of the vehicle Aaron Richardson (29) of Machias did not hold a valid driver’s license. He was issued a summonsed for Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Driver’s License.

Corporal Owen Reed and Sergeant Gavin Endre responded to a two-vehicle crash on the North Deer Isle Road in Deer Isle. The investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Juliet Lesser (68) of Deer Isle crossed the centerline and hit a vehicle operated by John Madura (52) of Sedgwick head on. Two passengers in Madura’s vehicle were injured in the crash.  All but one occupant of both vehicles was transported by ambulance to the hospital. Sedgwick, Deer Isle and Stonington Fire Departments, Peninsula Ambulance and Memorial Ambulance assisted on scene.

Trooper Steven Mahon responded to a criminal mischief complaint in T16 MD BPP where construction equipment was tampered with.  Forestry assisted.  Investigation continues.

Corporal Blaine Silk arrested Matthew Seavey (31) of Hancock for Violating Conditions of Release after being found intoxicated at his parent’s residence in Hancock.

Corporal Jeffrey Taylor responded to a property damage complaint in Deblois where a Kubota blueberry harvester and a flatbed blueberry transport truck had been damaged over the night. The Kubota sustained significant damage to the windshield and cab body. The flatbed had a rock thrown through the windshield. Investigation continues.

Trooper Travis Chapman investigated a welfare check complaint in Milbridge involving a confused driver. As a result, the 74-year-old driver was located and due to her mental state, it was determined she was not safe to be operating a motor vehicle. Vehicle was removed from scene.

Trooper Kim Sawyer received a report of a motor vehicle accident in Robbinston.  Robert Poole 2^nd (40) of Calais was arrested after he failed the Standardized Field Sobriety Test and transported to Baileyville Police Department for an intoxilizer test.  Baileyville Police Department Officer Dave Claroni, a Drug Recognition Expert, conducted his evaluation and determined that Robert was impaired.  Robert was transported to the Washington County Jail without incident.

Trooper Kim Sawyer received a report of a vehicle off the road on Rt. 1/ Charlotte Road in Calais.  Trooper Kim Sawyer arrived and saw the operator staggering around his vehicle and spoke with the operator Corey McPhee (50) of Houlton after he failed the Standardized Field Sobriety Test and transported to the Calais Police Department for an intoxilizer test.  Corey was transported to the Washington County Jail.

Corporal Blaine Silk stopped a vehicle operated by Alexander Lawrence (31) of Franklin for a vehicle defect on Route 1 in Ellsworth. Alexander has a suspended driver's license for OUI and is currently on bail with conditions not to possess alcohol. Alcohol was visible in the vehicle. Alexander was arrested and charged with Operating After Suspension and Violating Conditions of Release.

Trooper Kim Sawyer summonsed Nicole Merritt (39) of Lambert Lake for Theft by Unauthorized Taking, Class C after a lengthy investigation for financial exploitation, an interview with Trooper Josh Lander and Trooper Kim Sawyer and a polygraph with Detective Ben Sweeney.

As a result of a traffic stop in Blue Hill, Corporal Owen Reed charged Christopher Parks (56) with Operating After Suspension-Infraction.

Trooper Kim Sawyer responded to a motor vehicle accident on the Woodland Road.in Princeton. Mark Olsson (56) of Barring Plantation was summoned for Operating Under the Influence-Drugs, Violating Conditions of Release, Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle and a traffic offense summons for Failure to Provide Evidence of Insurance.

Corporal Blaine Silk received a complaint of threatening Arthur Taylor (62) of Addison was arrested for Terrorizing after sending explicit threats. The incident occurred in Milbridge.

As a result of a call for a welfare check Corporal Owen Reed arrested Daniel Bergin (42) of Blue Hill for Possession of Firearms by Felon after a search warrant was drafted and his home was search, resulting in the recovery of four firearms. The Hancock County Sheriff’s office assisted on scene.

Trooper Travis Chapman and Corporal Owen Reed responded to a residence in Sedgwick where it was reported that Travis Ruggiero (33) of Sedgwick was causing damage to a residence. Investigation revealed that Travis had done damage to the residence and made threats to burn it down. Travis was arrested and charged with criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and terrorizing.

Trooper Travis Chapman responded to Blue Hill for a report of an individual sleeping behind a building. Investigation revealed that the male identified as Martin Hipsky (54) of Ohio had been drinking and possessed alcohol. Martin had bail conditions from a previous OUI arrest and was not allowed to possess or consume alcohol. Trooper Chapman summonsed Martin for violating conditions of release.

Trooper Steven Mahon arrested Austin Britton (19) of Sullivan, for Criminal Speed after a traffic stop in Sullivan.  100 mph in a 45mph zone

Trooper Steven Mahon responded to a threatening complaint in Hancock where it was found that Christopher Nicoll (57) of Pennsylvania, had pointed a firearm at several people after a confrontation.  Nicoll was arrested for Reckless Conduct with a Dangerous Weapon.  Hancock Sheriff Office assisted.

Trooper Keith York arrested Robert McKenna (62) of Florida when he was found to be in violation of a protection order by traveling with the protected person across the border at the Calais port of entry.

Trooper Keith York responded to a complaint where Gregory Antil (56) of Machias assaulted Machiasport Clam Warden Gerald Crispino when Crispino issued him a summons for clamming without a license. Antil was arrested for Assault.

Trooper Kim Sawyer received a report from Princeton that someone stole a skill saw and a Sawzall from a garage sometime in the last month.

Trooper Einar Mattson arrested Nathaniel Isaacson (29) of Fletchers Landing for Operating Under the Influence after receiving a traffic complaint on the operation of the vehicle operated by Nathaniel Isaacson. The vehicle was stopped on route 179 in Waltham. Sergeant Ryan assisted.

Trooper Kim Sawyer responded to a rollover crash on the River Road in Calais.  The driver Leo Davis (27) of Eastport was transported to the Calais Hospital.  Trooper Kim Sawyer, suspects Operating Under the Influence and brought a blood kit to the ER, but they were unable to get a second IV.  Trooper Kim Sawyer gave the ER a preservation letter and will write a warrant.

Trooper Jarid Leonard arrested Ricky Palmeter (52) of Calais after he was found Violating his Conditions of Release.

Trooper Jarid Leonard conducted a motor vehicle stop in Cherryfield on Joshua Sprague (43) of Wesley. Joshua held a suspended license and the license plates on his vehicle did not belong to the vehicle he was driving. Joshua was charged with Operating after Suspension and Attaching False License Plates.

Trooper Jarid Leonard conducted a motor vehicle stop in East Machias on Linda Strojny (76) of Lubec. Linda’s registration was expired for two years, and she neglected to obtain a Maine license within 90 days of becoming a Maine resident. She was summonsed as a result of the stop.

Trooper Jarid Leonard conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 in Crawford on Misty Thurlow (35) of Calais. Misty was exceeding the speed limit by 21mph and she possessed a suspended driver license. She was summonsed during the stop.

Trooper Einar Mattson responded to a traffic complaint on Rte. 1 in Hancock. As a result of the stop Herman Bishop (42) of Franklin was arrested for Operating Under the Influence of Drugs.

Trooper Kim Sawyer received a traffic complaint on the Stud Mill Road, Grand Lake Stream Subsequently Joel Betz (59) of Grand Lake Stream was summoned for Driving to Endanger.

Corporal Blaine Silk responded to an auto accident on Rte. 1 in Hancock. The operator, Deborah Sinclair (53) Sullivan was administered Narcan at the scene and transported to Maine Coast Hospital. Deborah Sinclair was summoned for OUI Drugs by Corporal Silk.

Troopers Travis Chapman and Miles Carpenter responded to Hancock for a family fight. It was found this was verbal only in nature and no crimes had been committed. Disorderly conduct warnings were issued.

Trooper Travis Chapman, Trooper Miles Carpenter and Sergeant Gavin Endre responded to Franklin. It was reported that someone had been attempting to break into the residence. The person had left the residence before the responding Trooper’s arrival. Investigation continues.

Trooper Jarid Leonard responded to Big Lake Township for a report of a physical fight with 4-5 males. The males “jumped” the complainant with various types of weapons. An investigation was conducted, and it was determined the fight was planned and agreed upon by both parties. The fight ended shortly after and all parties were separated and there were no serious injuries. Charges were not filed for this incident.

Trooper Miles Carpenter responded to and investigated a family fight complaint in Hancock. No crimes had been committed and the parties were separated.

The Maine State Police responded to a fatal motorcycle crash in Waltham on the Waltham Road. A motorcycle, operated by Darrell King (51) of Brewer, lost control in a sharp curve, slid across the roadway, and struck an oncoming vehicle. The motorcycles passenger, Melissa Hatch (50) of Brewer, suffered fatal injuries from the crash. Both the operator and the passenger were wearing helmets. The operator of the oncoming vehicle did not suffer injuries. Speed was a factor in the crash. Local fire departments/EMS, The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, Ellsworth Police Department, and Maine DOT assisted with the crash. Trooper Jarid Leonard, Trooper Travis Chapman, and Sergeant Gavin Endre investigated the crash.
