  • Troop G Weekly Report - 04/04/2022 - 04/10/2022

    On 04/04/2022, Cpl. Cote stopped Amanda Cook (35) of Sanford on the ME Turnpike southbound at mile 34 in Saco.  Her ME driver’s license was found to be suspended.  She was charged with Operating after Suspension and Possession of a Suspended License.  Her vehicle was towed away.

    On 04/04/2022, Sgt. Pappas arrested Carlos Lukau for failing to stop and operating without a license following a 15-mile pursuit from Kennebunk to Scarborough.

    On 04/04/2022, Sgt. Pappas arrested Christopher Descoteaux for operating after revocation, violation of bail, and a warrant following a traffic stop on I-95 in South Portland.

    On 04/05/2022, Tr. Bourdelais investigated a traffic complaint of a Jeep all over the road near exit 63 north on the turnpike in Gray. A Jeep was located on the turnpike near Auburn. The operator was identified as Theron Fidiam. He appeared to be under the influence.  He was put through field sobriety tests and subsequently arrested.  The vehicle was towed and the operator was taken to a local police department where he was administered an intoxilyzer test.  The results were over the legal limit.  He was charged with Operating Under the Influence.

    On 04/05/2022, Sgt. Pappas arrested Travis Welch for violation of bail and probation hold after finding him in contact with two people he was not supposed to have contact with during a traffic stop on I-95 in Scarborough.

    On 04/07/2022, Cpl. Peckham stopped Matthew Hoke (37) of New York on I-95 in West Gardiner. Hoke was charged with Operating After Revocation.

    On 04/07/2022, Tr. Ellis stopped Thiwat Thiwat (27) of Portland for speeding on the ME turnpike northbound in Scarborough. He was charged with criminal speed (110/70) and issued an infraction for expired registration.

    On 04/07/2022, Tr. Ellis stopped Liam Coyne (22) of Biddeford on the ME turnpike southbound in Saco. He was operating with a suspended license and charged accordingly. The vehicle was towed.

    On 04/09/2022, Tr. Anstett stopped Melissa Zittle (37) of Winslow on I-95 in Portland. Zittle was charged with OAS.

    On 04/09/2022, Cpl. Cote stopped Hardin NGouabi Okombi (32) of Biddeford on the ME Turnpike southbound at mile 37 in Saco for traveling 110 mph in a posted 70 mph zone.  He was charged with Criminal Speed.

    On 04/09/2022, Sgt. Pappas arrested Ishua Long for fugitive from justice after learning that he had an extraditable warrant issued from the State of Georgia.

    On 04/09/2022, Cpl. Cote stopped Stephanie Doyle (33) of Portland on the ME Turnpike northbound in Portland for traveling 100 mph in a posted 60 mph zone.  She was charged with Criminal Speed.

    On 04/10/2022, Cpl. Physic assisted Tpr. Burke with an OUI crash on I-295.

  • Silver Alert: Randy Carver

    Randy CarverThe Holden Police Department has issued a Silver Alert for 66-year-old Randy Carver, who was last seen at the beginning of the week at his residence at 36 Moon Avenue in Holden. Carver is a white male, 6’00”, 200 lbs., with gray hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing baggy clothes. Carver, who has dementia is believed to be on foot.

  • Troop F Weekly Report 04-11 to 04-17-22

    Brief Synopsis:       Sgt. Clark was conducting traffic enforcement in Easton and observed a vehicle speeding.  After conducting a traffic stop and an investigation, it was discovered the driver had a revoked driver’s license.  The man admitted to knowing it was revoked and that he should not have been driving.  Sgt. Clark issued the man a criminal summons for OAR and helped him arrange to have a licensed driver come get him and his vehicle.

    Brief Synopsis:       Cpl. Quint was conducting traffic enforcement in Bridgewater when he observed a vehicle driving more than 90 mph in a posted 55 mph zone.  A traffic stop was conducted, and it was found that there were other passengers in the vehicle.  The driver stated he was in a hurry to get home.  Cpl. Quint issued the man a criminal summons for exceeding the posted speed limit by 30 mph or more and a criminal summons for driving to endanger.

    Brief Synopsis:       Cpl. Quint was driving through Patten when he observed a vehicle with what appeared to be a fictitious inspection certificate displayed and had a defective exhaust.  A traffic stop was conducted and after an investigation it was found that a photograph of a 2021/2022 inspection sticker was taped to the windshield.  The driver was issued a criminal summons for displaying a fictitious inspection sticker.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier was conducting traffic enforcement in Van Buren when he observed a vehicle committing a traffic infraction.  After stopping the vehicle and investigating, it was found the driver had a suspended driver’s license.  Tr. Desrosier issued the man a criminal summons for OAS and helped him arrange to have a licensed driver come get him and his vehicle.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Castonguay was conducting traffic enforcement and was driving through Houlton.  He observed a vehicle displaying a 2017/2018 inspection certificate as well as two different registration plates front and rear (one being animal welfare and one being a normal passenger plate).  A traffic stop was initiated and after an investigation it was determined the man fraudulently attached the plates and had a suspended driver’s license.  He was issued a criminal summons for both violations.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Castonguay responded to a single vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Dyer Brook.  After an investigation, the driver was arrested for OUI and later posted bail.  The man was driving south, crossed into the far-left lane striking a guardrail.  The man was not injured but his truck sustained disabling damage and was towed from the roadway.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Martin stopped a Saint Francis woman for speeding.  Tr. Martin learned the woman’s license was suspended for failure to pay fines and she had a warrant for her arrest for failure to appear.  When Tr. Martin returned to address the suspension, she presented him with her driver’s license.  The woman was summonsed criminally for possession of a suspended license.  She also received traffic citations for operating after suspension and failure to provide proof of liability insurance.  The woman was told to take care of her warrant.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Martin received a complaint from a Van Buren man of stolen catalytic converters being located on his newly purchased property.  Tr Martin recovered four catalytic converters and is working with Tr. Desrosier on trying to locate the victims.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr Martin received information of a Van Buren woman operating with a suspended license and had two warrants for her arrest.  The woman was last known to be in the Limestone area.  Tr Martin gave the information to the Limestone Police Department.  Approximately an hour later, Tr Martin located the vehicle in Limestone.  Tr Martin stopped the vehicle, and the operator was the woman he received the information on.  The woman was issued a criminal summons for OAS and a traffic citation for failure to display a valid inspection certificate.

    Brief Synopsis:       A Van Buren woman made a complaint she was being followed around town by another woman and her mother.  The pair were driving in front of the victim’s apartment complex and giving her the middle finger.  The daughter and mother were issued harassment warnings and told to stay away from the other party.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr Martin received information of a Van Buren man with an outstanding probation revocation warrant.  Troopers Martin and Levesque located the man at his mother’s apartment.  The man was arrested without incident and transported to the Aroostook County Jail.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr Martin was conducting traffic enforcement in Van Buren when he spotted a defective motor vehicle.  Tr Martin spoke with the operator and learned the operator’s license was suspended.  The operator was issued a criminal summons for operating after suspension and a traffic citation for failure to display a valid inspection certificate.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Martin observed a vehicle displaying an expired inspection certificate in Fort Kent.  Tr Martin stopped the vehicle and spoke with the operator.  The operator said he bought the vehicle from his employer and hadn’t fixed any of the defects or registered it.  The previous owner’s license plates were still on the vehicle.  Tr. Martin conducted a license check on the operator and learned his license was suspended and he was on bail.  The operator was summonsed for violation of conditional release, operating after suspension, and attaching false plates.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Levesque and Rocco were called to assist the Aroostook County Sheriff’s office in clearing a building for a suspect wanted in a burglary.  Deputies had arrest one male who was burglarizing a building on the Loring Air Force Base and believed that there was another suspect inside the building.  Additional units were called and set up a perimeter around the building. Rocco searched the building that was over 106,000 square feet (2.5 acres) and did not locate the other person.  Evidence was found that lead Tr. Levesque to believe that the other party had exited while the Deputies were arresting the first suspect.

    Trooper:                   TR. Cotton

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Cotton was patrolling the Hodgdon Mills Road in Hodgdon when he observed a vehicle being driven by a man, he believed had a warrant. Tr. Cotton turned on the car but was not able to catch up to it before losing sight of it. A few moments later, Tr. Cotton observed fresh skid marks on the Hodgdon Mills Road and then observed the same car parked in a driveway of a local residence. Tr. Cotton determined the man he thought was driving the car was currently in jail. Tr. Cotton spoke to the homeowner, who matched the general description of the male driving the car earlier. The man denied driving. Tr. Cotton found the man had an active warrant and placed him under arrest. Tr. Cotton read the man his Miranda rights and he confessed to driving the car and locking up his brakes before pulling in his driveway. The man was able to post bail at the Houlton State Police Barracks and was charged for OAR and VCR and released.

    Brief Synopsis:       In March of 2022, Tr. Cotton initiated a traffic stop with a 16-year-old boy who was in possession of and actively smoking cigarettes. Tr. Cotton learned that the boy was given the cigarettes by a co-worker at a local farm. Tr. Cotton located the 38-year-old Hodgdon man to speak with him. The man initially denied giving the boy cigarettes. After a short interview, the man confessed to giving the 16-year-old cigarettes and told him he knew it was the wrong thing to do. Tr. Cotton charged the man with furnishing tobacco to a minor.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Barnard responded to a Bancroft residence for a report of a suspicious vehicle. A neighbor called to report there was a car parked near an abandoned home and there were people walking around with flashlights. Tr. Barnard located two people and found they had stolen items that were scattered around the property. Tr. Barnard contacted the homeowner and charged them with theft.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Sylvia began investigating a criminal mischief in the town of Littleton after a resident came to the Barracks reporting damage to his vehicle.  The case remains under investigation.

    Trooper Owen Reed summonsed Trevor Moon (50) of Sedgwick, for Operating with a Revoked License after a traffic stop in Penobscot.

    04-14-22

    Trooper Owen Reed responded to a theft complaint in Deer Isle where money was reported stolen from a wallet that was left in a vehicle during the past few days.  Investigation continues.

    Trooper Jarid Leonard investigated a crash on US Route 1 in Columbia. Woodrow Richardson (61) of Columbia left the roadway suddenly and crashed into a telephone pole. Woodrow suffered minor injuries from the crash. An investigation is ongoing, but the cause of the crash is from a medical event. Versant Power, McLaughlin’s Towing, and local fire departments assisted.

    Trooper Jarid Leonard conducted a motor vehicle stop in Calais. Austin Serrato (24) of Calais was found to be operating after revocation and operating a motor vehicle with an expired registration that exceeded 150 days. Austin was charged as a result of the investigation.

    Corporal Jeff Taylor responded to a theft complaint in Danforth where a .45 caliber Sig Sauer handgun was reported stolen from either a vehicle or a workplace.  Investigation continues.

  • Head on crash in Livermore sends four people to the hospital

    On Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at approximately 2:55 p.m., the Maine State Police responded to a two-vehicle head-on crash, which occurred on Federal Road. (Rt. 4) in Livermore, just north of the intersection of Canton Road. (Rt. 108).  The road is currently shut down and has been since 3:00 p.m. for reconstruction purposes. 

    Traffic is currently being re-directed at the intersection of Route 4 and Bear Pond Road in Turner. A total of four occupants were involved in the crash. They were all transported to the Central Maine Medical Center for moderate to serious injuries. Their identities are being withheld at this time pending notification to their families. The cause of the crash is still being investigated.

    The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office, the Livermore Fire Department, the Turner Fire Department, and NorthStar Rescue are all assisting on scene.
     

  • Troop F Weekly Report 04-18 to 04-24-22

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier was conducting traffic enforcement in the town of St. Francis.  Tr. Desrosier conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation.  Tr. Desrosier received clues of impairment on the driver of the vehicle and ultimately placed the driver under arrest for operating under the influence of alcohol.   Tr. Desrosier brought the driver to Fort Kent Police Dept. for further processing.  The driver was released on bail.

    Brief Synopsis:       On April 21, 2022 at approximately 2141 hours, the Maine State Police received a report of a possible personal injury crash on Route 161 in Cross Lake.  Trp. Nathan Desrosier responded to the scene to investigate the crash.  Trp. Desrosier learned Tiffany Dodd, of Woodland, was traveling south bound in a 2016 Chevrolet pickup and observed a deer in the roadway. Dodd swerved to avoid striking the deer causing the vehicle to go off the right side of the roadway and into the ditch.  The pickup continued into the Cross Lake Cemetery causing damage to several head stones.  Both Dodd and her passenger were uninjured in the accident.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Rider was conducting traffic enforcement in the town of Woodland.  Tr. Rider conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a motor vehicle defect.  Tr. Rider observed drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle as he spoke with the driver. Tr. Rider conducted a roadside investigation and ultimately searched the vehicle locating suspected Methamphetamine and a loaded handgun.  Tr. Rider placed the man under arrest for VCR, unlawful poss. Of scheduled W drug, poss. Of a firearm by a prohibited person along with other various charges.  The man was able to place bail and was released.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Roy was conducting rural patrol in the town of Blaine.  Tr. Roy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a speeding violation.  The operator could not produce a driver’s license but stated that he was from Indiana and just didn’t have his license with him.  Tr. Roy was able to determine that the operator’s license was suspended in Indiana.  Tr. Roy issued the driver a summons for operating without a license.  A licensed driver was called to remove the vehicle from the roadway.

    Brief Synopsis:       Sgt. Clark was conducting rural patrol in Blaine when he stopped a vehicle for a defect.  Sgt. Clark learned that the operator did not have a driver’s license and the registration plates did not belong to that vehicle.  A passenger in the vehicle had an active arrest warrant for violation of probation.  Sgt. Clark issued the operator a summons for operating without a license and she left the scene on foot.  The passenger was charged with false attachment of plates and placed under arrest for the warrant and transported to the Aroostook County jail.  The vehicle was towed from the roadway.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Roy was conducting traffic enforcement in the town of Woodland.  Tr. Roy stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.  Tr. Roy learned that the operator and his passenger both had suspended driver’s licenses.  Tr. Roy issued the operator a summons for operating after suspension and arrangements were made to have a licensed driver remove the vehicle from the roadway.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Cotton was conducting traffic enforcement in Littleton when he observed a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker. Tr. Cotton conducted a traffic stop and found the operator had a suspended driver’s license. Tr. Cotton issued the man a summons for OAS and a licensed driver in the vehicle drove from the scene.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Cotton was monitoring traffic on Main Street in Fort Kent. After running a registration plate Tr. Cotton learned the registered owner of a vehicle had a suspended license. Tr. Cotton initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle, confirmed the identity of the operator, and summonsed the Fort Kent woman for OAS.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Sylvia began investigating the theft of exhaust parts in Hammond from a camp owner.  The victim reportedly came to his seasonal camp and found the exhaust had been recently cut off his jeep.  The case remains under investigation.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Curtin investigated a threatening/harassment complaint in the town of Stockholm.  The female caller reported she was being harassed and threatened by another female.  The other female party was served a cease harassment order.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Mahon began investigating a theft in the town of Patten.  The caller reported he loaned his handgun to his granddaughter and she now can’t find it and thinks it may have been stolen.  The case remains under investigation.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Curtin was on patrol when he had occasion to stop a 63-year-old Fort Kent female for a traffic violation.  The female was subsequently charged with failing to register her motor vehicle.

    UPDATE: Washington County Death Ruled a Homicide

    The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has determined that the death of 43-year-old Kimberly Neptune is a homicide. Perry was found deceased in her home at 27 Thunder Road in Perry on Thursday, April 21, 2022.

    Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit North is investigating Neptune’s death with the assistance of the Pleasant Point Police Department.

    We are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person in the attached photos so that Detectives can speak to them to determine if they have any relevant information.  If anyone has any information about the person in the photos or about the death of Neptune, please call the Maine State Police at 973-3700 and leave a message for Detective Larry Anderson.

    Maine State Police investigating death of a Washington County woman
     
    On Thursday, April 21, 2022, at approximately 8:11 p.m., the Pleasant Point Police Department was requested by a relative to respond to an apartment at 27 Thunder Road in Perry to check on the well-being of 43-year-old Kimberly Neptune. Upon entry, Neptune was discovered deceased and the circumstances of her death are suspicious. Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit North was called and is now investigating the death with the assistance of Pleasant Point PD. An autopsy is being performed today at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. 
     
    A neighbor of Neptune’s reported having a surveillance camera and located on the video a person walking by the apartment building. Screenshots of the video are attached. We are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person in the photos so that Detectives can speak to them to determine if they have any relevant information.  If you have any information about the person in the photos or about the death of Neptune, please call the Maine State Police at 973-3700 and leave a message for Detective Larry Anderson.
     

  • Truck Fire Closes I-295 for Several Hours

    295 Truck FireA truck hauling hot patch pavement caught fire this morning causing I-295 to be closed while the flames were brought under control.

    On April 25, 2022, around 9:20, Maine State Police received a report of a truck on fire near mile marker 5 in South Portland. Troopers arrived on scene and determined that the commercial vehicle had multiple propane tanks on board that were igniting and fueling the fire. Both north and south traffic was shut down while the South Portland Fire Department dealt with the fire.

    I-295 remained shut down for approximately 3 hours. The vehicle was travelling from Woburn, MA to Bangor. The exact cause of the fire is unknown, but the truck recently underwent maintenance to the propane heating system and it is possible this system malfunctioned causing the fire. Thankfully no one was injured.

    Trooper Kim Sawyer summonsed Joel Fickett (62) of Marshfield for Operating After Suspension, Class E after a traffic stop for an expired registration (8/31/2021) on RT 191 in Meddybemps.  Joel’s inspection had expired in 5/2009, and he was unable to provide an insurance card.  His vehicle was towed.

    Trooper Einar Mattson received a complaint of a missing person in Dedham. Subsequently James Melanson (62) of Dedham was located and arrested for Violation of Bail Conditions.

    Corporal Jeff Taylor investigated a report of property damage on the Tunk Lake Road in Sullivan. Several mailboxes had been run over during the night. Investigation continues.

    Trooper Owen Reed responded to a theft reported in Blue Hill. It was reported a large amount of jewelry stolen from a vehicle. Investigation continues.

    Trooper Kim Sawyer arrested Ashton O’Reilly (22) of Calais for Operating Under the Influence after a traffic crash in on RT 191 in Meddybemps. 

     

  • Large Fentanyl Seizure in Waterville

    Troop C Seized fentanylOn April 18, 2022, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Tpr. Murray conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violation at mile marker 124 northbound, on I-95 in Waterville. After observing several indicators of criminal activity, Murray conducted a roadside investigation. As a result, Troopers learned that the occupants Michael A. Bridges, 49, and Elizabeth Cole, 31, were in possession of 880 grams of fentanyl, already packaged for re-distribution.

    Trooper Eric Bronson and Waterville PD Officer Makayla Hodge assisted in the investigation. The pair were charged with Class A - Aggravated Trafficking. Bridges was also charged with Violation Conditions of Release. The pair were taken to Kennebec County Jail.
