  • Troop B Weekly Report 05/17/2021 - 05/23/2021

    05/21/2021, at approximately 1900 hours, Spec. Allen came across a tractor trailer crashed into the woods. The driver of the vehicle was hauling a load of lumber to Massachusetts. Several people stopped and helped the driver get out of the truck as it sustained heavy damage. The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. Troop K was dispatched to the scene. Tr. Lemieux from Troop B assisted.

    On 05/18/2021, Tr. Watson noticed a suspicious vehicle behind Canton Variety. A registration inquiry revealed the plates were false attached. After speaking with the driver, Adrienne Young (39) it was determined she was suspended and had a warrant for failure to appear. She was arrested and brought to Rumford PD to meet with the bail commissioner without incident. Tr. Willard assisted with the investigation.

    On 05/18/2021, Tr. Watson stopped a vehicle with no inspection sticker on the Howes Corner Rd in Turner. The operator, Skyler Green (26) out of Texas admitted to not having a license. The passenger and RO, Shlina Catrett (28) had a valid license. Catrett was advised she could not permit him to drive anymore. Green was charged accordingly.

    On 05/19/2021, Tr. Watson stopped a vehicle with no license plate in Livermore. The driver, Carl Oldham (08/30/1966) had multiple felony warrants from 2015 and a revoked license. Oldham admitted he left for Vegas and returned thinking the warrants would be gone. He was arrested and transported to jail without incident.

    On 05/21/21, Members of section one responded to 25 Vickerson Drive in the town of New Gloucester to investigate a domestic disturbance where a 34 YO female had reported being assaulted and restrained by her 30 YO boyfriend.  Upon arrival, Troopers determined there was evidence of an assault and initial attempts to raise the male suspect from his residence at 22 Shaw Road were unsuccessful.  A perimeter was established, with the assistance of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department, and Trooper Jamo negotiated with the male for over an hour until he finally agreed to comply. Trooper Jamo arrested ETHAN D. PETERS for felony domestic assault (prior) and criminal threatening and transported him to the Cumberland County Jail.

    On 05/20/2021,Tr. Watson noticed a gold Cadillac CTS with an expired inspection sticker at the Red Roof in Leeds. The plates were also false attached. Kayla O’Brien (29) exited the store and immediately admitted she knew she could not be driving and knew the plates did not belong on the vehicle. Steven Gray (30) was also with the vehicle. A bail check was completed. O’Brien was charged accordingly.

    On 5/24/2021, Tr. Knight stopped to check on a disabled vehicle on Rt. 26 in Woodstock. The passenger, Joshua Spencer of W. Paris, return indicated he had an active warrant for FTA for felony OAR. Joshua was arrested on the warrant without incident.

    Trooper Kim Sawyer summonsed Roger Terry (44) of Baileyville for Operating Under Suspension - Class E and for Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle (expired 5/31/2020) after a traffic stop in Baring for an expired inspection certificate (6/2020).

    Sergeant Jeff Ingemi summonsed Thomas Knight (41) of Cherryfield, for Operating After Suspension after a traffic stop in Jonesport.

    Trooper Blaine Silk received a report of theft of tools from a garage in Franklin.  Investigation continues.

    Trooper Kim Sawyer summonsed Lydia Neddeau (49) of Princeton for Attaching False Plates after a traffic stop in Baileyville for an expired inspection certificate.

  • Troop B Weekly Report 05/24/2021-05/31/2021

    On 05/25/2021, Tr. Knight obtained a search warrant for medical records for William Peters who crashed his vehicle in Otisfield on May 8. The records indicated William was under the influence of alcohol at that time. Tr. Knight obtained an arrest warrant for William for OUI, Driving to Endanger and three counts of VCR. William has since been arrested on that warrant.

         

    On 05/28/2021 Tr. Lemieux was traveling south on I-295 in Portland. Traffic was very heavy at this time. Tr. Lemieux noticed a Jeep quickly approaching from the rear. Tr. Lemieux locked the speed of the vehicle at 85mph (posted 50mph zone). Tr. Lemieux conducted a motor vehicle stop and identified the driver as Seth Miller of South Portland. Miller was cited appropriately.

    On 05/29/2021, Tr. Lemieux made contact with three drivers that were speeding on I-95. The first a 17-year old male from Massachusetts was traveling at 111 mph. In York, Tr. Lemieux stopped an 18-year old male from Massachusetts that was traveling at 104 mph. The third was a 19-year old male from Sanford traveling 100 mph. All drivers were cited appropriately. The posted speed limit on I-95 is 70 mph.

     

    On 05/30/2021, Trooper Pyburn stopped DAKOTAH BAILEY on Old County Road in the town of West Paris. BAILEY was observed operating an ATV a high rate of speed on Route 219, after passing Trooper Pyburn. BAILEY briefly attempted to evade Trooper Pyburn, turning onto several private and posted roads, before eventually stopping. Warden Smith responded to the scene to assist and BAILEY was summonsed accordingly.

    On 05/18/2021, Massachusetts State Police had a vehicle crash in which the Operator fled on foot. The vehicle’s registration came back to a Sumner address. Troopers conducted interviews with the previous owner, Dolsie Bragg. Bragg had sold the vehicle in question to her boyfriend’s nephew Diego Martinez out of Sabattus. The family assisted in giving some locations in Mass that Martinez may go to. Martinez had multiple warrants at the time. Information about him was relayed to Mass SP to alert them on his most recent activity and escalation in Maine. He was successfully located and arrested in Mass.

    On 5/29/2021 and 5/31/21, Troopers Watson and Willard conducted a directed patrol in the area of County Road in the town of Turner and other surrounding roads including Route 4 and Snell Hill Road.  There has been recent intel suggesting of increased traffic and possible drug activity.  In the span of two days Troopers contacted 29 vehicles resulting in 3 VSAC’s and 1 USAC’s being issued.  Four vehicle searches were conducted resulting in paraphernalia and small amount of drugs.  The information stems from recent traffic stops Trooper Watson had in the same area resulting in drug seizures.

    On 05/30/2021, Tr. Watson stopped a vehicle with an expired registration in Turner. The operator, Eric Merrill admitted the plates were false attached and he was suspended. The plates were pulled, and he was charged accordingly.

    On 05/30/2021, Tr. Watson stopped a vehicle with a loud exhaust in Turner. The operator, Nathan Howard showed a suspended status. The vehicle was parked. Charges are pending based on follow-up with Howard.

    On 05/29/2021, Tr. Lemieux was working a minimum shift on Troop G. At this time, Tr. Lemieux was posted in a cross over in York on I-95. Tr. Lemieux saw a vehicle quickly approaching from the rear. He saw on radar the vehicle was traveling 94mph. Tr. Lemieux stopped the

    vehicle and identified the driver as Vincent Visconti of North Andover MA. VISCONTI had an expired/suspended license out of Massachusetts. The vehicle was towed, and VISCONTI was cited appropriately.

    On 05/29/2021, Tr. Knight stopped a vehicle in Bridgton for no front plate and expired inspection sticker. The operator, Zachary Laney of Bridgton, was found to have a suspended license. The vehicle was not registered, and Zachary admitted to having no insurance on it. Zachary was summonsed accordingly and issued multiple VSACs.

    On 05/26/2021, Kyle Leblanc (30 of Brunswick) passed Tr. James in the right-hand lane of I295. Upon making contact with Kyle, it was also determined his registration was suspended due to toll violations. Leblanc was charged accordingly on all charges.

    On 05/30/2021, Tr. James responded to a two-vehicle crash on I295 in Brunswick. One of the vehicles involved had a previous driving complaint made on it south of Freeport. The driver of that vehicle, David James (35 of Dresden), stated he was very tired and found himself not remembering much of the drive from Portland. Tr. James could smell the odor of alcohol coming from David. He was brought to Topsham PD for a breathalyzer test and was charged with Driving to Endanger.

    On 05/30/2021, Tr. Watson stopped a vehicle with a suspended registration in Turner. The operator, Heather McEwen was also suspended and on probation. McEwen claimed to have driven from Windham to Bretton’s with her passenger, Nathaniel Rines for food. A search was conducted, and the vehicle was towed away. McEwen was charged accordingly.

  • Troop F Weekly Report 05-31 to 06-06-21

    Trooper:                   Tr. Castonguay

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Castonguay received a report of subjects who were on private property attempting to steal catalytic convertors.  The complainant had a camera set up on the property and identified the people that were there.  Tr. Castonguay and Cpl. Quint responded to the scene and located the suspect who were attempting to steal the convertors.  The suspects stated that the convertors were already gone.  One of the men had an active warrant for his arrest and was on bail.  Cpl. Quint transported the man to ACJ.  All suspects were charged with Criminal Attempt.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier was conducting traffic enforcement in the town of St. Agatha when he stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.  Tr. Desrosier learned that the man’s license to operate was under suspension and the man had several active arrest warrants for FTA Operating after revocation.  Tr. Desrosier summonsed the man for OAR and placed him under arrest on the warrants.  Tr. Desrosier transported the man to Fort Kent PD where he was bailed.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Cotton pulled over a local man for a traffic infraction and charged him with Operating After Suspension.  The man’s license had been suspended for an accumulation of convictions.  A licensed operator was allowed to driver the vehicle from the scene.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Mahon was leaving the barracks when he observed a vehicle traveling south being operated by a 60-year old Monticello woman that was familiar with and knew to be suspended.  Tr. Mahon stopped the vehicle and charged the woman with Operating After Suspension.  This is the third time the woman has been charged by Tr. Mahon.

    Brief Synopsis:       Cpl. Casavant responded to the report of a vehicle burglary at a residence in Connor.  The victim reported two separate vehicles had been broken into by smashing out the windows and several items had been taken.  The investigation is ongoing.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Saucier responded to the report of a vehicle that was off the road and into the woods.  The caller reported there was nobody around it and it appeared to have damage.  As a result of Tr. Saucier’s investigation, he charged a 34-year old Oakfield man with Operating After Suspension and Failure to Report a Crash by Quickest Means.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Saucier took a theft report from Millinocket PD.  The victim went to a bank in Millinocket to report a female had stolen his checkbook and wrote herself a check.  The investigation is ongoing.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Saucier responded to a residence Island Falls after the homeowner reported someone had entered their home and stolen his wife’s handbag.  The victim reported they had been out for approximately an hour and forgot to the lock the door.  The investigation is ongoing.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Sylvia responded to the theft of an ATV in Island Falls.  The caller reported someone had stolen his brother’s ATV and they believed it was 28-year old Oakfield man.  Approximately an hour after receiving the report, Tr. Sylvia took a theft report from the Oakfield Irving reporting the same suspect had stolen gas, food and alcohol and left the store on the stolen ATV.  Troopers checked the area but could not locate the suspect or ATV.  Three hours after the initial report, a dispatcher traveling home almost struck an ATV traveling without any lights in Houlton.  Tr. Sylvia responded to the area, but the ATV took off and Tr. Sylvia was not able to keep a visual.  A short time later, the suspect was located on North Street in Houlton on foot.  He was taken into custody and after being medically cleared, taken to ACJ.  Tr. Mahon was able to locate the ATV down in embankment not far from where the suspect was taken into custody.  The Oakfield man was charged with Theft by Unauthorized Use, Criminal Trespass as well as Theft by Unauthorized Taking.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Mahon was monitoring traffic in New Limerick when he ran a registration check on a passing vehicle.  After running the registration check, Tr. Mahon learned the registered owner and operator of the vehicle was under suspension.  Tr. Mahon stopped the vehicle and charged the 37-year old Houlton man for Operating After Suspension.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Sylvia responded to a residence after a woman called to report someone had smashed out her driver’s side window sometime overnight.  The caller reported her vehicle was unlocked and it did not appear anything was taken.  The investigation is ongoing.

  • Old Town Woman charged in daughter’s death

    On Sunday, June 6, 2021, Maine State Police arrested 28-year-old Hillary Goding of Old Town. Goding is charged with manslaughter in the death of her 3-year-old daughter.  

    On Friday, June 4, 2021, Old Town Fire and Rescue responded to 149 Center Street at approximately 10:48 pm after Goding called 911 to report that her daughter was unresponsive and not breathing.
    The child was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on Sunday, June 6, 2021.

    An autopsy was performed Sunday by the Office of Chief Medical Examiner. Information regarding the autopsy is not being released at this time.
     
    Hillary Goding was arrested in Lincoln Sunday and taken to the Penobscot County Jail.  

    Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Old Town Police Department are investigating.

  • Silver Alert: Edgar Glidden - UPDATE Located Safely

    Glidden photoUPDATE Mr. Glidden has been located safely. Thank you for your assistance.

    The Maine State Police has issued a Silver Alert for Edgar Glidden, 78, who was last seen around midnight, June 7, 2021 in Lebanon in the vicinity of 7 Heath Rd.   

    Glidden is a white male, 5’10”, 184 lbs., with white hair and hazel eyes. 

    Glidden was last seen wearing blue jeans and no shirt.  Glidden suffers from seizures followed by hallucinations.

  • Silver Alert: Louis Tomah of Milbridge UPDATE: Located Safely

    Louis TomahUPDATE: Mr. Tomah has been located safely. Thank you for your assistance.

    UPDATE: Mr. Tomah was last seen in Bangor on June 7 at approximately 1 p.m.


    The Maine State Police has issued a Silver Alert for Louis Tomah, 66, who was last seen walking at approximately 10:30am, Monday, June 7, 2021 on Harbor Lane in Milbridge.

    Tomah is a white male, 6’2”, 285 lbs., with white hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a gray tie dye t-shirt. Tomah suffers from dementia.

    Anyone who sees Louis Tomah should call 911 or 207.973.3700.

  • Troop G Weekly Report 05/31/2021 - 06/06/2021

    On 05/31/2021, Tr. Darcy charged Isabella Tynski (22) of CT with OAS after investigating a two-vehicle crash southbound on the turnpike in York.

    On 06/01/2021, Cpl. Cropper stopped a vehicle for criminal speed, 116/70, northbound in Kennebunk. Keith McNeff (28) of Biddeford was summonsed and PR bailed from the scene.

    On 06/01/2021, Tr. Darcy stopped to check on a vehicle in Kittery in the breakdown lane with its hazards on and passenger side door open. Upon contact with the occupants, Tr. Darcy learned that an adult female was having an epileptic seizure and was vomiting. Rescue was started and the female eventually was signed off as she was feeling better.  

    On 06/03/2021, Lt. Baker stopped Ambrosia Yankowsky of Pittsfield for 109 MPH in a 70 MPH zone northbound in Litchfield. She was cited appropriately.

    On 06/04/2021, Tr. Vanadestine received a call via Augusta RCC to watch for a black GMC truck operating erratically southbound from the Auburn area.  Tr. Vanadestine was stationary at MM 66 and located the truck.  The Black GMC registration matched the one given by the caller and was swerving at varying speeds down to 40 MPH.  The operator, Ryan Perry of Portland, had two active warrants and was intoxicated.  Perry was arrested and transported to CCJ.

    On 06/05/2021, Tr. Loder arrested Kevin Speghezzi (28) of Biddeford for OUI & Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident.  Speghezzi  crashed into a guardrail endcap at the top of the Exit 36 entrance ramp, causing extensive damage including a shredded rear tire.  Speghezzi then left the scene and was eventually tracked down in a parking lot off Exit 42.  He submitted to a breath test which indicated his BAC was substantially higher than the legal limit.  Sgt. Pappas and Scarborough Police assisted with the investigation.

    On 06/05/2021, Cpl. Physic and Tr. LiBritz responded to a male walking on the side of Turnpike at MM 45.  After attempting several de-escalation attempts,  the male still refused to leave the Turnpike.  The male was detained and Cpl. Physic transported him to Maine Medical Center.

    On 06/05/2021, Cpl. Physic assisted Sgt. Pappas with a crash at MM 67 that blocked the roadway.

    On 06/06/2021, Cpl. Cropper stopped a vehicle NB in Biddeford for speeding. The operator of the vehicle, Matthew Britton (31) of Hallowell, was arrested on a warrant for FTA-Criminal Mischief out of Hallowell PD.

    On 06/06/2021, Sgt. Pappas and Tr. Darcy responded to a call northbound on the turnpike in Wells in which a male was having a mental health crisis and believed he was being chased. The male continued to call 911 and was running through the woods. He eventually came out in a campground in Wells where Wells PD located him. He was taken to the hospital for an evaluation.

    On 06/07/2021, Sgt. Wilkinson, Cpl. Cropper, Tr. Vanadestine, and Tr. Davis responded to a two-vehicle crash southbound at exit 42. A BMW, driven by Justine Meyer (22) of Norton, MA, sideswiped a Chrysler minivan, sending it into a guardrail end and then into the wood line. Meyer’s vehicle flipped over onto its roof and continued to slide southbound and into the guardrail. The BMW caught fire and eventually became fully engulfed. Three people were transported to area hospitals although there were no major injuries. Cpl. Cropper summonsed Meyer for OUI-Alcohol and Driving to Endanger. Results are pending from a blood alcohol kit.
