  • Troop G Weekly Report 09/07/2020 - 09/13/2020

    On 09/06/2020, Sgt. Porter responded to the Gray Park and Ride for the report of a white Duramax pickup that had a tow strap hooked to the grill and was towing kids around. Upon arrival, CCSO was already on scene and had dispersed the crowd of approximately 20 juveniles. The name of a 17-year-old male from North Yarmouth was given along with the registration for the white Duramax. The entire parking lot had tire marks from vehicles ‘burning out.’ Maine Turnpike Authority stated they did want a trespass warning issued. On 09/09/2020, Sgt. Porter issued the male a Criminal Trespass warning for all MTA Park and Rides, for one year. His father was also informed and co-signed the notice and explained that juveniles from Freeport, Greeley, and New Gloucester meet up and video tape the behavior.

    On 09/07/2020, Tr. Darcy had a vehicle towed in which the registration was suspended for tolls as the result of a traffic stop northbound on the turnpike in York.

    On 09/10/2020, Cpl. Cote arrested and charged Whitney Galeucia (34) of Sanford with Operating Under the Influence of Drugs, Operating after Suspension, and Violation of Bail resulting from a single vehicle crash on the ME Turnpike northbound in Scarborough.

    On 09/10/2020, Tr. Darcy seized 10 grams of fentanyl as the result of a traffic stop northbound on the turnpike in Ogunquit. Tr. Williams assisted.

    On 09/11/2020, Sgt. Wilkinson arrested Thomas Henley of Biddeford for OUI.

    On 09/12/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Philip Charest (37) of Sabattus on Minot Avenue in Auburn.  He was charged with Illegal Attachment of Registration Plates.  The plates were also stolen, but upon follow up, the owner, his ex-girlfriend, after contact was made, elected not to pursue charges.  The plates were seized.

    On 09/13/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped a 29-year-old male of Portland on the ME Turnpike northbound in Falmouth.  His registration was found to be Suspended for Tolls.  It was towed away, but he was not charged.  He will be following up with MTA to rectify the issue.

    On 09/14/2020, Cpl. Duda and K9 Mack conducted K9 training in Topsham.  

    Tr. LiBritz and her family attended the Christian Law Enforcement Officer Retreat from September 11th through September 13th. It is a yearly retreat at Living Waters Bible Camp in Danforth, Maine filled with worship, activities, and fellowship.  The retreat is composed of law enforcement families from different agencies (MSP, MWS, Marine Patrol, local PDs, retired officers) and is an incredible, encouraging, and rewarding experience.

  • Edmunds Fatal Crash

    Maine State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Edmunds Wednesday evening.

    On Sept. 16, 2020, at approximately 11:03 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a fatal crash on Route 1 in Edmunds involving a single vehicle and single occupant. The operator of a silver 2005 Toyota Camry, Meghan McPhail, 19 of Whiting, died as a result of her injuries.  McPhail was travelling North at the time of the crash.  

    Trooper Keith York responded as the primary investigator and was assisted at the scene by Sergeant Jeff Ingemi, Corporal Micah Perkins, Trooper Andy Foss and Washington County Sheriff’s Department.
     
    Speed, alcohol and fatigue are possible factors in this crash.  McPhail was not wearing a seatbelt. 

    Dennysville Ambulance, Dennysville Fire Department and Whiting Fire Department also assisted.  Investigation continues.
     

  • Mapleton Crash

    The Maine State Police responded to Main St. in Mapleton on Sept. 18, 2020 at 12:56 p.m., for a two-vehicle head-on crash.  The investigation indicated that a 2016 Suburban, operated by Orpheus Allison, 56, of Mapleton, was traveling west through a construction zone and failed to return to the westbound lane.  A 2013 Chevrolet pickup operated by Carter McLaughlin, 23, Mapleton, of was stopped in traffic, in the east bound lane.  Allison struck the front of the McLaughlin’s pickup causing disabling damage to both vehicles.  A 2002 GMC pickup, operated by Frank Marcello, was stopped behind McLaughlin.  The impact caused McLaughlins pickup to be pushed back into the front of Marcello’s vehicle.  The cause of the crash is believed to have been caused by a medical condition.  Allison was transported to AR Gould Northern Lights Hospital in Presque Isle for non-life-threatening injuries.  McLaughlin was not injured in the crash.  Marcello had minor injuries.  

  • Silver Alert: Walter Pelletier LOCATED

    UPDATE: Mr. Pelletier has been located by Bangor Police and has been checked into an area hospital. Thank you all for your assistance.

    Maine State Police out of Troop C have issued a Silver Alert for Walter Pelletier, 81, of Canaan. Mr. Pelletier went missing at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 18, 2020, from his residence at 2000 Hill Road in Canaan. Mr. Pelletier suffers from dementia, hallucinations, and has kidney issues. He is described at a white male, 5’10”, 140 lbs., with gray hair and brown eyes. He was driving a Blue 1996 Ford Mustang with a vanity plate of OLDPAPA. 

    Mr. Pelletier stated he was going into town, Canaan Superette, to get gas and has not been seen or heard from since.  He has no phone, family is unaware of any destination he would venture to, and none of the stores in town have seen him.

    Unbeknownst to Mr. Pelletier he has health problems that may need immediate medical attention.

    Anyone who sees Mr. Pelletier should call 911 or 207-624-7076 x 9 and leave a message for Corporal Rick Moody.

  • Blue Hill Theft

    Sign Theft Blue HillThe Maine State police are investigating a recent theft of an electric speed warning sign owned and operated by the Town of Blue Hill designed to slow traffic on Main Street. The device is a costly loss to the town and the Town of Blue Hill is offering a monetary reward pending a court conviction for the thief. Any information regarding this case can be directed to Trooper Owen Reed at 207-973-3700 x9.

  • MSP Seek Assistance IDing Man Involved in Hit an Run

    Car and SuspectThe Maine State Police is seeking the public’s help in identifying a male operator who fled the scene of a motor vehicle crash on Sept. 18, 2020, at approximately 14 p.m. in the Town of Carmel.

    Trooper Cooper Plaisted was dispatched to the report a motor vehicle crash, at the intersection of Dyer Road and Main Road (US Route 2) where the unknown man driving the vehicle and a known juvenile passenger reportedly fled the scene on foot toward Carmel Village.

    As a result of the investigation, The Trooper learned that the man made a purchase at the Village Market, prior to the accident. Trooper Plaisted was able to obtain the surveillance Suspect in Marketfootage where the man made a purchase and then left the Market in the vehicle that was involved in the collision, a 2019 black Subaru sedan.

  • Waldo County Arrests

    The Maine State Police arrest 16 people in Waldo County for various offenses over the course of a week’s-long investigation. Troopers culminated the investigation with the execution of a search warrant in Northport.

    On Sept. 14, 2020, Maine State Police executed a Search Warrant at 175 Rocky Road in the Town of Northport.  The warrant came at the conclusion of a week-long investigation in Waldo County resulting in the arrest of 16 individuals for various charges including but not limited to Trafficking in Schedule drugs, Possession of Methamphetamine, Heroin Possession, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Violation of Conditions of release.  The State Police were assisted by our State, Local and County partners in these endeavors with Waldo County Sheriff’s Department present and participating at the execution of the search warrant on September 14 in Northport.

    Trooper Blaine Silk responded to a crash in Amherst where the driver of the vehicle was reportedly intoxicated. Trooper Silk arrived on scene and determined the operator, Norman Grindle (51) of Amherst was intoxicated. GRINDLE was arrested for Operating Under the Influence.

    Trooper Dana Austin stopped a motor vehicle for a traffic violation in Franklin, as a result of the investigation, Eric Carson (41) of Robbinston was summonsed for Operating after Suspension.

    Trooper Owen Reed arrested Ryan Williford (33) of Blue Hill, for Operating Without a License after a traffic stop in Blue Hill.

    Trooper Owen Reed responded to a phone harassment complaint in Deer Isle where a harassing message was left on a voicemail.  Investigation continues.

    Trooper Jeffrey Taylor summonsed Nicholas Bilger (27) of Jonesboro for Operating After Habitual Offender Revocation – Class C as result of a seatbelt violation in East Machias.

    09-20-20

    Trooper Gavin Endre responded to an abandoned vehicle on Route 182 in Hancock. Throughout the investigation, Michael Brunt (26) of Steuben was arrested on a Probation Violation, Brunt was highly intoxicated. Travis Yeaton (36) of Steuben was summonsed for Violation of Conditions of Release.  Yeaton was also intoxicated. Corporal Smith assisted.

     

     

  • Troop F Weekly Report 09-14 to 09-20-20

    Brief Synopsis:       Cpl. Quint was driving north on State Route 11, T8 R5, to assist another Trooper with an unrelated incident.  A pickup was driving south at 100 mph in a posted 55 mph zone.  Cpl. Quint stopped the vehicle and the male driver said he was late for work.  The man was issued warnings for operating with opaque material in window, operating without approved safety glass, defective tire, and a criminal summons for exceeding the posted speed limit by 30 mph or more.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier was conducting traffic enforcement in Saint Francis.  He stopped a vehicle for speeding and during the stop discovered the vehicle’s registration was suspended for evasion of tolls.  Tr. Desrosier issued the man a warning for speeding and a criminal summons for the suspended registration.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier assisted the Aroostook County Sheriff’s with a traffic stop in Madawaska Lake Township.  The Deputy stopped both vehicles and found them to both have attached false plates.  Tr. Desrosier assisted with the stop until the Deputy was clear.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Kilcollins was conducting traffic enforcement in Mars Hill and stopped a vehicle for defective equipment.  During the stop, the male driver admitted his license was suspended.  Tr. Kilcollins discovered that his license was revoked, and the man attached false plates (lobster plates no longer in circulation).  The man was arrested for operating after revocation and attaching false plates and transported to Presque Isle Police where he was able to post bail.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Kilcollins responded to a head-on crash in Mapleton.  One vehicle was driving in a construction zone, failed to move back into the proper lane, and struck, head-on, a pickup truck that was waiting to go.  The force of the crash pushed the pickup into the vehicle behind.  No one was seriously injured in the crash and a medical condition of the first vehicles driver is suspected.  The two vehicles were stuck together and had to be separated using a wrecker.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Castonguay had been looking for a man with two felony warrants.  His investigation brought him to a property in Island Falls where the man was building a camp.  Tr. Castonguay arrested the man without incident and transported him to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton.  There was no bail allowed with the warrants.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Kilcollins was conducting traffic enforcement in the town of Mars Hill and stopped a vehicle for not having a plate light.  The operator admitted to having a suspended license.  Tr. Kilcollins confirmed that the driver had a revoked license with two priors.  The man had also falsely attached lobster plates to the vehicle.  Tr. Kilcollins arrested the man and was transported to PIPD where he was bailed.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Kilcollins responded to a car vs. pole crash in Caswell.  The man stated that he fell asleep and when he came to, he was heading for the pole.  The vehicle struck the pole breaking it and traveled into the woods.  The man’s license was also suspended and was transported to Cary Medical Center.  Tr. Kilcollins summonsed the operator for OAS.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Martin and Tr. Levesque were trying to conduct a probation check on a subject in Easton who is also a felon.  They attempted to contact the subject, but no one answered the door.  Before leaving, Tr. Martin observed an item matching the description from a Burglary in Wade from 6/11/2020.  Troopers secured the residence while waiting for a search warrant to be signed.  Sgt. Fuller supervised the execution of the search warrant.  The subject for the probation check had been hiding inside his residence and answered after orders were given.  The execution of the warrant resulted in locating several items from the burglary as well as firearms.  The Probation Officer was contacted who said he would be placing a hold on his probationer.  In addition to the probation hold, the subject was also charged with burglary, theft (class C), criminal mischief, possession of firearms by a prohibited person and VCR

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Martin was conducting traffic enforcement in Saint Francis when he observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Main Street.  Tr. Martin activated his radar and measured the vehicle’s speed at 80mph in a posted 45mph zone.  The operator was issued a criminal summons.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Rider received a threatening/harassment who claimed that her neighbor was harassing and threatening her.  The suspect had bail conditions not to be in contact directly or indirectly.  Tr. Rider responded to the address and arrested the suspect without incident.  The suspect was unable to make bail.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Rider and Sgt. Fuller performed a bail check on an individual who was on bail for trafficking drugs.  Tr. Rider found paraphernalia in the subject vehicle.  The subject also completed a urine test and it was found that there was methamphetamine in the subject’s system.  The subject was given a summons for VCR.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Levesque responded to a two-vehicle crash in Westfield. During the crash investigation Tr. Levesque discovered that the male had an active arrest warrant and developed probable cause to search one of the vehicles.  Tr. Levesque located methamphetamine and charged a female passenger for possession of Schedule W Drugs. The male was transported to the Aroostook County Jail.  .

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr, Cotton assisted the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office with a vehicle off the road. It was determined that the operator fled the scene. A male suspect was developed, and he was reported to have a warrant and a suspended driver’s license. Tr. Cotton and the Deputy went to a residence in Smyrna to locate the male. The owner of the home advised the male was in the residence and allowed them to search the residence. Tr. Cotton and the Deputy went to the area of the house where they thought he was located. The male fled the residence into the woods. After a brief search in the woods, the male was located and placed under arrest.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Cotton was advised of some debris in the interstate at MM 276. After a brief investigation of the scene, Tr. Cotton determined that a vehicle had struck the exit sign and knocked over a street light near the North Bound off ramp at MM 276. The vehicle was no longer on scene. At approximately 0540 hours Tr. Cotton located vehicle debris at the stop sign on the Oakfield exit MM 286. Tr. Cotton did not locate the vehicle. Later that morning,  Dispatch received  report of a  white truck with extensive front end damage parked behind their house, near a gravel pit in Oakfield with no one around it. Tr. Cotton called the owner of the truck and as a result of the investigation, will be summonsing the male for failing to report this crash.

    Brief Synopsis:       On 9/14 and twice on 9/15 Tr. Sylvia received requests for K-9 calls with partner Ziva.  The calls included Sherman for an article search, Presque Isle for a criminal track and Westfield for a criminal track.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Sylvia and other Troopers responded to the Fletcher Rd in Monticello for a reported theft from a property.  The suspects left in a vehicle and were not located.  The case remains under investigation.

  • Troop G Weekly Report 09/14/2020 - 09/20/2020

    On 09/07/2020, Tr. Williams attempted to stop a Cadillac rental vehicle with tinted windows on I-95 NB in York.  The vehicle accelerated to over 103 MPH before attempting to hide behind a trailer truck in the right lane.  Juliany Matos (19) and a 24-year-old male were detained.  Cpl. Duda/K9 Mack arrived, and K9 Mack alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics.  A search was conducted but no contraband was located.  Evidence at the scene indicated a drug transaction was in progress but was interrupted by Troopers.  Matos was arrested and charged with Eluding an Officer Class C and the vehicle was towed.  Sgt. Pappas, Tr. LiBritz, and Tr. Darcy assisted.

    On 09/12/2020, Tr. Williams conducted a traffic stop southbound in Saco.  During the stop criminal indicators were observed, and Cpl. Schmidt deployed K9 Ibo, who alerted on the vehicle for the presence of illegal narcotics.  As a result of the subsequent search, over $57,000 in suspected drug proceeds were seized.

    On 09/13/2020, Tr. Williams arrested Eric Martin (22), Deqwan Martin (27), and Quintaysha Hinkle (22) of Rhode Island for Aggravated Trafficking Sch. W Drugs Class A following a traffic stop in York.  Cpl. Duda/K9 Mack conducted a drug sniff which resulted in a positive alert by K9 Mack.  Concealed under a panel in the center console was 48 grams of cocaine base.  Sgt. Pappas, Cpl. Physic, Tr. LiBritz, and Tr. Darcy also assisted.

    On 09/14/2020, Tr. Darcy assisted MDEA with a search warrant on a vehicle at Sanford PD.

    On 09/14/2020, Tr. Darcy arrested Samuel Waterman (37) of Sabattus on an active warrant as the result of a traffic stop northbound on the turnpike in York. Waterman was bailed from the Biddeford Park and Ride. Cpl. Duda & K9 Mack and Tr. Williams assisted as the vehicle was searched and paraphernalia was located.

    On 09/15/2020, Cpl. Duda arrested Jonathan Page Dewitt (31) of Alfred for operating under the influence. Cpl. Duda located Dewitt passed out inside of his running vehicle near mile marker 35 northbound. Dewitt was brought to the Saco Police Department for a breath test. Dewitt refused the test and was charged accordingly.

    On 09/15/2020, Sgt. Pappas arrested Christy Nason and Kyle MacDougall for unlawful trafficking scheduled W drugs after finding them in possession of 526 grams of fentanyl.  Load was headed to Augusta.  Tr. Williams, Tr. Darcy, and Cpl. Duda assisted.

    On 09/16/2020, Tr. Darcy charged Cory Tarves (30) of Sabattus with OAS as the result of a traffic stop northbound on the turnpike in Saco.

    On 09/17/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Debora Lubuelo (19) of Portland on the ME Turnpike northbound in Auburn.  Her registration was found to be Suspended.  She was charged with Operating w/a Suspended Registration.

    On 09/18/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Erica Knudsen (44) of Kennebunkport on the ME Turnpike northbound in Portland.  She was charged with Criminal Speed for traveling more than 30 MPH over the posted work zone speed limit.

    On 09/18/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Andrew Reed (24) of Utica, NY on the ME Turnpike northbound in Gray.  His NY Driver’s License was found to be Suspended.  He was charged with Operating without a License.

    On 09/18/2020, Sgt Pappas arrested Calixte Fluery for OUI and Aggravated Trafficking Schedule W Drugs following a crash.  Fleury was in possession of 20 grams of fentanyl and 53.5 fentanyl pills pressed to look like the prescription drug oxycodone. 

     

    On 9/19/2020, Tr. Williams arrested Christian Brown (41), Kerry Ross (45), and Heather Brown (41) of Livermore Falls for Aggravated Trafficking Sch. W Drugs Class A following a traffic stop in York.  36 grams of Fentanyl was seized.  Sgt. Pappas, Cpl. Duda, and Tr. Darcy assisted.

    On 09/19/2020, Tr. Darcy stopped a vehicle northbound on the turnpike in York. As a result, Dan Nevins (26) of Augusta was arrested for VCR as he was with a female that he was prohibited from having contact with. At the jail, 14 grams (140 dosage units) of fentanyl was located concealed on Nevins. He was also charged with Aggravated Trafficking. Sgt. Pappas, Cpl. Duda, Tr. Williams & Tr. Grenier (Troop C- was riding along with Tr. Darcy) assisted as a vehicle search was also conducted.

    On 09/19/2020, Tr. Darcy arrested Rebecca Poulin (32) of Sabattus on two active warrants as the result of a traffic stop northbound on the turnpike in York. Rebecca was bailed from the Biddeford Park and Ride. Crack cocaine paraphernalia was seized from the vehicle during a search. DHHS will be notified as a young child was also in the vehicle along with the evidence that crack cocaine was recently smoked. Cpl. Duda, Tr. Williams, and Tr. Grenier (Troop C) assisted.

    On 09/19/2020, Cpl. Physic summonsed Melanie Feffer for criminal speed for traveling 105 MPH in a 50 MPH construction zone.

    On 09/20/2020, Cpl. Physic pulled over  a vehicle for erratic operation.  The driver, William Hoye, was summonsed for OAS and Violation of Conditions of Release.

    On 09/20/2020, Cpl. Duda conducted a traffic stop northbound near mile marker 13.5. K9 Mack indicated on the vehicle and drug paraphernalia was seen on the initial stop. During a hand search of the vehicle approximately 448 grams of suspected fentanyl was located inside the glove box. Laurie Secord (47) and Jason Morrill (41), both of Portland, were charged with Aggravated Trafficking of Schedule W Drugs. Tr. Williams, Tr. Darcy, and Sgt. Pappas assisted on the stop.

    Troop G Section 1, along with at least nine other Troopers from Troops A, B, C, and D, spent several hours trying to locate a vehicle which several wanted drug dealers from Connecticut were riding in.  The information came from MDEA.  Subjects were also wanted for questioning for one of the most recent shootings in the Skowhegan area.  The vehicle was not located.
