    Trooper Kim Sawyer received a report in Big Lake Township of a theft of a traffic cone, 2 markers and an American flag.  Trooper Kim Sawyer summonsed Dana Kadey (75) of Big Lake Township for theft.

    Trooper Kim Sawyer summonsed Alison Furman (33) of Indian Township for Operating After Suspension, Class E after a traffic stop for speed on Rt. 1 in Robbinston.

    Trooper Jeffrey Taylor summonsed Brandon Tibbetts (28) of Columbia Falls for Operating After Suspension as result of a traffic stop for speeding in Addison.

    Trooper Dana Austin stopped a motor vehicle for a traffic violation on State Street in Ellsworth, as a result of the investigation, Samuel Linscott (25) of Waltham was summonsed for Operating after Suspension.

    Sergeant Jeff Ingemi summonsed April Coleman (18) of Bucksport for Operating Without a License after a traffic stop in Hampden.

    Trooper Kim Sawyer received a report of an assault at the boat landing in Princeton.  On June 14, 2020 Trooper Kim Sawyer summonsed Taea Lola (22) of Princeton and Indian Township for Assault.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Kilcollins was conducting traffic enforcement and was driving through Ashland.  He observed a vehicle travelling 90 mph in a posted 50 mph zone.  He conducted a traffic stop and the driver stated she did not realize she was driving so fast.  Tr. Kilcollins issued a criminal summons for exceeding the speed limit by 30 mph or more.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Cotton was patrolling in Island Falls. Tr. Cotton observed a red sedan in front of him with no rear plate that was accelerating well above the posted speed limit. Tr. Cotton continued to follow the vehicle onto Harding Street in Island Falls and the vehicle quickly pulled into a driveway. Tr Cotton initiated a traffic stop and the operator admitted he was suspended. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle had a falsely attached front plate on it. The driver was summonsed for the OAS and Improper Plates.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Rider was traveling on the Fort Fairfield Road in Presque Isle when he observed a vehicle with a 2018-2019 inspection sticker as well as a cracked windshield.  Tr. Rider pulled the vehicle over and the driver had a warrant for a previous OAS case.  Tr. Rider made arrangements for the driver’s friend to pick up the vehicle and transported the driver to PIPD where he was able to make bail.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Rider was traveling on Route 1 in Weston when he observed a pickup with no inspection.  Tr. Rider turned on the truck and the driver immediately turned onto a dirt road.  Tr. Rider pulled the truck over and the driver was revoked and on bail.  Tr. Rider issued a criminal summons to the driver for driving while revoked and VCR.  Tr. Rider made arrangements for the driver’s sister to come get the truck

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Sylvia took a report from a New Limerick woman who had unemployment benefits fraudulently applied for under her name.  The woman was following the guidelines set forth by the Department of Labor and the investigation is ongoing.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Mahon charged 2 local individuals with Operating After Suspension on 2 separate traffic stops.  A female was pulled over in Monticello for a vehicle defect and a license check revealed that her right to operate was under suspension.  She was cited for the violation and a licensed driver was located to drive the vehicle.  Then later in the day a he observed a Bridgewater man operating and he knew his right to operate was under suspension.  He was pulled over by Tr. Mahon and cited for the violation.  A licensed driver was also called to drive the vehicle from the scene. 

  • Troop G Weekly Report 06/08/2020 - 06/14/2020

    On 06/10/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped a 33-year-old female operator, of Lewiston, on the ME Turnpike at mile 92 SB in Litchfield. Her registration was found to be Suspended for Tolls. The vehicle was towed, and she will be following up with the MTA to rectify the issue. She was not charged.

    On 06/11/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Christopher Isgro (31) of Portland on the ME Turnpike at mile 77 NB in Auburn. He was charged with Operating without a License (Class E).

    On 06/11/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Ryan Caron (35) of Lewiston on the ME Turnpike at mile 79 SB in Lewiston. He was charged with Criminal Speed (Class E) for traveling 104 MPH in a posted 70 MPH zone and Failure to Obtain License within 30 Days of Residence > 90 Days (Class E). A small number of illegal pills were seized that were turned in at the Troop G Barracks to be destroyed. 

    On 06/12/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped David Lowe (36) of Lisbon on the ME Turnpike at mile 48 NB in Portland in a construction zone. He was charged with Criminal Speed (Class E) for traveling 84 MPH in a posted 50 MPH zone.

    On 06/12/2020, Cpl. Cote attempted to stop a male operator on a motorcycle on the ME Turnpike at mile 47 SB in Portland for Criminal Speed for traveling 83 MPH in a posted 50 MPH construction zone. He failed to stop, and Cpl. Cote did not pursue after him. He was never located.

    On 06/12/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Jason Simpson (46) of Oxford on the ME Turnpike at mile 79 NB in Lewiston. He was charged with Attaching False Plates (Class E).

    On 6/12/2020, Tr. Parks and Tr. Wilkinson investigated an erratic operation complaint at MM 53 NB. Emily Winn (30) of West Newfield was subsequently arrested for OUI (Drugs) and VCR.

    On 06/12/2020, Tr. Darcy charged Erik Lund (34) of Saco with Operating after Revocation as the result of a traffic stop northbound on the turnpike in Wells. Tr. Williams, Tr. Harakles, and Tr. Fancy & K9 Dutch (Troop A) assisted as a vehicle search was also conducted.

    On 06/13/2020, Lt. Baker stopped Valentino G. Graham (37) of Portland for 103 MPH in 65 MPH zone. He was traveling south on I-295 in Freeport. Graham was charged with OAS and speed.

    On 06/13/2020, Sgt. Pappas summonsed Randall Francis for possession of meth (2 grams).

    On 06/13/2020, Sgt. Pappas summonsed Elizah Cherry for OAS.

    On 06/14/2020, Lt. Baker stopped Allan C. Charles (56) of Portland on the Turnpike for 105 MPH in a 70 MPH zone near the Saco exit. He was charged with speed.

    On 06/14/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Jake Nardone (20) of Wakefield, MA on the ME Turnpike at mile 47 SB in Portland. He was charged with Criminal Speed (Class E) for traveling 86 MPH in a posted 50 MPH construction zone.

    On 06/14/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Evandro Quissangua (25) of Lewiston on the ME Turnpike at mile 55 NB in Falmouth. He was charged with Operating After Suspension (Class E) and Possession of a Suspended License (Class E).

  • Vinalhaven Friday Update

    State Police say the man who died on Vinalhaven Island Sunday night died as a result of injuries inflicted with a knife. The State Medical Examiner's Office has ruled the death a homicide.  However State Police and the Knox County Sheriff's Office continue to investigate the circumstances of the death of 28 year old Roger Feltis. Feltis was fatally injured during a confrontation at the home of Dorian and Briannah Ames on the Roberts Cemetery Road. Briannah Ames was also injured during the confrontation and was treated and released from Pen Bay Medical Center.

    Investigators will continue to review evidence, the autopsy results and interviews in consultation with the Attorney General's Office
     

  • Two Benton Men Face Charges for Burglary in Connection with Break-Ins

    Two men from Benton have been arrested and are facing Burglary charges in connection with break-ins in Benton and Belgrade. June 19, 2020, Troopers from Troop C, executed a search warrant at 16 River Road, Apt. 3, in Benton, after obtaining information about the location of stolen property related to a burglary complaint on May 30, 2020, at the “Sticky Diamond” marijuana dispensary on Rte. 225 in the town of Rome. A second attempted burglary occurred in the town of Belgrade on the same day.

    With the public’s help, State Troopers were able to identify the two men involved in both incidents as Scott Gordon, 19, of Benton, and Raheem Goodwin, 19, of Benton. After conducting a search warrant where stolen property was recovered, both Gordon and Goodwin were arrested and charged with Burglary, Theft by Unauthorized Taking or Transfer and Criminal Mischief. Both were booked at the Kennebec County Jail with bail set at $8,000. for each of them.

  • Troop F Weekly Report 06-15 to 06-21-20

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Desrosier was conducting traffic enforcement in the town of St. Francis when he observed a vehicle traveling south on Rt. 161 at a high rate of speed.  Tr. Desrosier locked the vehicle’s speed at 90 mph in a posted 50 mph zone.  Tr. Desrosier conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle.  Tr. Desrosier observed clues that the operator was possibly impaired by alcohol.  Tr. Desrosier conducted SFST’s and arrested the man.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Martin was conducting traffic enforcement on Rt. 161 in the town of Woodland when he observed a vehicle defect.  Tr. Martin conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle.  Tr. Martin asked for the operator’s license and he advised that his license was suspended.  Tr. Martin verified the suspension and learned that the operator’s license was revoked.  Tr. Martin issued the man a summons for OAR.

    Brief Synopsis:        Blaine  VCR

    Individual called claiming that their son who is on 24/7 house arrest, left the house and had not returned. .  Trp. Rider and Trp. Levesque responded and located and arrested the individual.  While searching the individual, drug paraphernalia was found as well as a .357 pellet gun.  Individual was transported to ACJ where he did not make bail.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Curtin was working traffic enforcement in Cross Lake Twp. when he stopped a vehicle for a vehicle defect and found the operator was under suspension.  The 39-year-old Presque Isle man was charged with OAS.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Sylvia was working traffic enforcement in Littleton when he stopped a vehicle for speeding.  One of the two occupants was on bail and found to be in violation of his curfew.  The 34-year-old Littleton man was arrested and taken to the ACJ.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Mahon was working traffic enforcement in Monticello when he clocked a 34-year-old Kentucky woman traveling 67 in a 30 zone.  A short time later Sgt. Haines clocked a 33-year-old Caribou man for 86 in a 55 in Bridgewater.  Both operators were summonsed for criminal speed.

    06-16-20

    A serious motor vehicle crash occurred on Rt 3 in Trenton at the head of the Island.  A 2005 Harley Davidson being driven by Bruce Gott (61) of Lamoine was heading north on Rt 3 at the intersection of Rt 102.  A 2012 Ford explorer being driven by Emily Maehrlein (40) of Cold Spring, New York was heading south.  Gott crossed the center line and struck the explorer nearly head on.  Gott sustained serious injuries and was transported to MDI Hospital and then life flighted to EMMC where he is in critical condition.  He was not wearing a helmet.  Maehrlein was not injured in the crash.  The crash remains under investigation.  Trooper Blaine Silk is the primary investigator and was assisted by several Troopers and officers from Bar Harbor Police Department.  Bar Harbor and Trenton Fire Departments also assisted.

    Trooper Caleb McGary summonsed Holly McGregor (42) of Connecticut, for Operating after Suspension after a traffic stop in Ellsworth.

    06-19-20

    Trooper Travis Chapman responded to Lamoine where it was reported that someone had shot the window of a residence. The window was broken but there was no bullet or other evidence found on scene. The investigation is ongoing.

    Trooper Jeffrey Taylor arrested Melinda Smith (62) of Machias for Operating Under the Influence as result of a traffic complaint.

    Sergeant Jeff Ingemi arrested Molly Erickson (40) of Machiasport, for Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol after a traffic stop in Marshfield.  

    Trooper Caleb McGary summonsed Matthew Davis (49) of Pennsylvania, for Criminal Speed after a traffic stop in Amherst.  89 in a 50 zone.

     

  • Troop D Weekly Report

    Troop D weekly activities for time June 15th to June 21st, 2020

    On 6/16/2020 Tr. Mattson stopped FAY PINKHAM (30) on Rt 32 in Windsor for a defective vehicle.  JUSTIN DEGREENIA (31) was a passenger in the vehicle and had an active FTA warrant.  Justin was arrested and transported to Kennebec County Jail.  Fay was warned for a defective vehicle and failure to produce on operator’s license.

    On 6/17/2020 Cpl. Pelletier stopped Dalton Bowman (19) on Cobbossee Ave. in Gardiner for a vehicle defect. His license was suspended for FT maintain minimum liability insurance and he was subsequently summonsed for the offense.  

    On 6/17/2020 Tr. Harrington summonsed Rachel Keller (26) for operating without a license on Route 201 in Vassalboro.

    On 6/17/2020 Tr. Mattson stopped DARYL CHASE (35) on Rt 3 in China.  Daryl had falsely attached plates.  He was summonsed for the violation.  

    On 6/18/2020 Tr. Mattson stopped a maroon Mercury Montego with no registration.  The driver MARISSA GROVER (18) only had a permit and there was not a licensed driver in the vehicle.  One of the passengers SPENCER GORDON (20) had a bill of sale for the vehicle as well as a title but did not have insurance.  Marissa was summonsed for operating without a license and Spencer was cited for failure to produce proof of insurance.  

    On 6/18/2020 Cpl. Pelletier summonsed Jason Priest for Criminal Mischief, because he reportedly threw a box of screws at another vehicle while in transit on I-295 in Bowdoinham, which caused damage. 
    On 6/20/2020 Trooper Anstett and Trooper Moore responded to 60 Pond Rd in Albion for a report of a stolen tractor. David Austin (56) of Albion stated that between the hours of 1800 on Friday June 19, 2020 and 1000 June 20, 2020, someone stole is 1972/73 Oliver T model 1950 tractor from his field. Troopers canvassed the area for evidence and speaking with residents. The case is still pending further investigation. 

    On 6/20/2020 Tr. Belanger stopped Michael Lonnee (35) and Dalton Sawtelle (21) of Gardiner on Second St in Farmingdale for a seatbelt and inspection violation. Lonnee was ultimately charged with OAS and VCR. Sawtelle refused to identify himself, despite his seatbelt violation. Sawtelle was ultimately arrested for failure to provide name and date of birth. Sawtelle resisted arrest and was further charged with refusing to submit to arrest.

    On 6/21/2020 Tr. Dunn stopped Hugh Brown (31) of Bowdoinham on Rt. 201 in Bowdoin for having no front plate. Brown recently bought the vehicle and was charged with Attaching False Plates and FT Provide Proof of Insurance.
     

  • Troop G Weekly Report 06/15/2020 - 06/21/2020

    On 06/15/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped Diane Larson (36) of Auburn on Hotel Road in Auburn. Her vehicle registration was found to be Suspended for Tolls. She was charged with Operating with a Suspended Registration and her vehicle was towed.

    On 06/15/2020, Tr. Darcy charged Patricia Sutkowski (59) of Saco with Operating after Suspension as the result of a traffic stop southbound on the turnpike in Wells. 

    On 06/15/2020, Tr. Darcy observed a stolen vehicle traveling northbound on the turnpike in Wells. Troopers Darcy, Welch, and Williams conducted a high risk stop on the vehicle in Kennebunk. The three male occupants were detained. The investigation revealed that the vehicle was still showing stolen out of Colorado. The driver knew the victim in the case, and it is believed there may have been a misunderstanding based on a language barrier. Tr. Darcy was unable to get in contact with the victim. The vehicle was towed, the occupants were released, and the agency in Colorado was notified. Charges may be filed based on speaking with the victim if contact can be made.

    On 06/16/2020, Tr. Darcy was dispatched to a report of a male who pointed a firearm at a female in another vehicle while traveling on the turnpike in Kennebunk. Troopers Darcy and Spicer (Troop A) located the vehicle and conducted a high risk stop in York. The male was detained. The investigation revealed that the male was doing “dry fires” with his hands (no firearm in hand) as he had just had issues shooting at the range. The only firearm in his vehicle was locked in a safe in his trunk. The victim observed the male’s hand motions in her rearview mirror and believed the male was pointing a firearm at her. The victim did not wish to have the case submitted to the DA’s office. The male was warned about the scene that he caused due to his actions.

    On 06/16/2020, Tr. Williams received a complaint of a vehicle crash and rollover at mile 3 northbound on I-95 in the town of Kittery. Troopers Williams, Darcy, and Wilkinson responded. Det. Bolton was in the area and arrived on scene first, and learned the crash was a hit-and-run. Tr. Williams learned a vehicle had struck the rolled-over vehicle and fled into the Kittery Rest Area. Det. Bolton and Tr. Darcy located the suspect vehicle and the occupants after a witness observed the driver hiding behind a dumpster. As a result of the investigation, Daniel Arpi (21) of North Berwick was charged with Driving to Endanger, Operating Without a License, and Leaving the Scene of a PD Crash.

    On 06/17/2020, Cpl. Cote stopped John Peterson (49) of Manchester, NH on the ME Turnpike at mile 47 NB in Portland. He was charged with Criminal Speed for traveling 86 MPH in a posted 50 MPH construction zone.

    On 06/17/2020, Tr. Williams stopped a vehicle for excessive speed (92 MPH in a 70 MPH zone) and unsafe lane changes on I-95 in the town of York. The vehicle attempted to quickly exit the turnpike in York as Tr. Williams was catching up to it. Tr. Williams observed numerous criminal indicators from the occupants and summoned the assistance of Tr. Fancy/K9 Dutch. Cpl. Cote and Tr. Darcy also responded. After a negative K9 response, Tr. Williams seized the vehicle and obtained a search warrant based in part on the fact K9 Dutch is not trained on Fentanyl. Troopers Williams, Darcy, and Fancy served the search warrant at National Wrecker Service in Eliot and located 140 grams of suspected Fentanyl along with $1905.00 in cash in the vehicle. Arrest warrants are pending for the two suspects, both from Lowell, MA.

     

    On 06/18/2020, Tr. Darcy stopped a vehicle northbound on the turnpike in Wells. As a result of the roadside investigation, 78 grams of crack cocaine, 21 grams of cocaine, a loaded firearm, and $5,400 cash were seized. Justin Wyman of Cornville was charged with Class A Aggravated Trafficking Schedule W Drugs. Jessica Hutchins of Skowhegan was charged with Class A Aggravated Trafficking Schedule W Drugs and Class C Possession of a firearm while being a prohibited person. Tr. Williams assisted.

    On 06/20/2020, Tr. Loder responded to a 911 call about an assault taking place in a vehicle stopped in the travel lane near the Exit 46 interchange. Tr. Loder located the female victim near the west tolls. The victim described how her boyfriend, Ryan Boles (25), punched her repeatedly and put her in a headlock before she was able to get out of the car. Tr. Reaser set up and stopped the car southbound in Biddeford. Boles was taken into custody and has been charged with (felony) DV Assault and VCR. Sgt. Burton assisted at both locations.

    On 06/21/2020, Tr. Keim stopped Peter Ruger (58) of York for traveling 101 MPH in a posted 70 MPH zone in Kittery. Ruger admitted to his speed. Ruger was also charged with operating an unregistered motorcycle.

    On 06/21/2020, Tr. Keim stopped Delcio A. Carraco (24) of Lewiston for traveling 105 MPH in a posted 70 MPH zone. Carraco admitted to his speed and was charged with criminal speed.

    Tr. Physic summonsed Damien Barbour for Criminal Speed for going 84 MPH in a 50 MPH in an active construction zone.

  • Mapleton Arrest

    On May 29, 2020, Charles C. Lagasse , 75, was arrested at approximately 2:30 p.m. at 412 Carvell Road in Mapleton.   He was charged with 1 Count of Gross Sexual Assault to a Child Under 12, 2 Counts of Unlawful Sexual Contact to a Child Under 12, and 2 Counts of Visual Sexual Aggression of a Child Under 12. The arrest was made by Det. Chad Lindsey of MCU-North and Trooper Kyle Rider of Troop F.  Det. Larry Anderson is the primary investigator.  Lagasse was taken into custody without incident and was transported to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton.
