    Sergeant Jeff Ingemi summonsed Allen Johnson (33) of Beals, for Operating after Suspension after a traffic stop in Harrington.

    Sergeant Jeff Ingemi summonsed Kaleb Kenney (19) of Columbia Falls, for Operating after Suspension after a traffic stop in Harrington.

    Trooper Owen Reed summonsed Danielle Crockett (29) of Sedgwick, for Operating after Suspension after a traffic stop in Deer Isle.

    Trooper Jeffrey Taylor arrested Daniel Ostberg (30) of Cherryfield for Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol as result of a traffic stop for a seatbelt violation on Route 1 in Milbridge.  Ostberg refused to submit a breath sample.

    Trooper Jeffrey Taylor summonsed Joshua Cirone (33) of Addison for Operating After Suspension – Infraction as result of a traffic stop on Route 1 in Columbia

    Trooper Dana Austin stopped a motor vehicle on Route 180 in Otis, as a result of the investigation, Tiffany Lawonn (31) of Otis was summonsed for Operating after Suspension. Trooper Joshua Lander assisted.

    Trooper Dana Austin stopped a motor vehicle on Route 180 in Ellsworth, as a result of the investigation, Sherman Merchant (34) of Otis was arrested for a Probation Revocation. Also, charged in the incident was Jade Giger (32) of Otis. Jade was summonsed for Permitting Unlawful Use. Trooper Gavin Endre and Trooper Joshua Lander assisted.

    Trooper Dana Austin stopped a motorcycle on Route 1A in Dedham. As a result of the investigation, Christopher Rowell (41) of Orrington was summonsed for Exceeding the Posted Speed Limit by 30 miles per hour or more. Christopher was going 103 miles per hour in a posted 55 miles per hour zone.

    Trooper Dana Austin summonsed Dale Hooper (36) of Blue Hill for Operating Under the Influence after Trooper Austin checked on his disabled vehicle in Orland. Dale was transported to the Bucksport Police Department where the breath testing device was administered. Trooper Owen Reed assisted.

    Trooper Jeffrey Taylor arrested Patrick Farr (35) of Addison for Operating Under the Influence – Prior as result of a traffic stop for Operating an ATV on a Public Way on Route 1 in Harrington.

     

  • Troop G Weekly Report

    Tpr. Keim stopped Liannor Morin (25) of Old Town for speeding.  Morin was traveling 98mph in a posted 70mph zone.  Morin was also under suspension for failing to pay fines.  Morin was charged with speeding and operating after suspension.

    On 05-31-19 Tpr. Duda conducted a traffic stop northbound near mile marker 15.  K9 Mack was deployed for an exterior sniff of the vehicle and positively indicated to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.  Subsequently the operator, Donna Pagnani (36) of Auburn relinquished 5 fingers (53 grams) of suspected heroin/fentanyl.  She was charged accordingly and was also arrested on a probation hold. 

    Cpl. Ricci Cote investigated the death of a 53-year-old woman from Monmouth at the West Gardiner tolls.  She had been a passenger in a vehicle being rushed to a local hospital for symptoms of a heart attack when the operator pulled over and had to perform CPR on her when she became unresponsive.  Medical crews arrived a short time later and took over.  After crews worked on her for over an hour, the female died.  The death is believed to be a result of a heart attack and not suspicious.

    On 05-30-19 While on a PACE team detail, Tpr. Darcy arrested Victoria Dyer (20) of Newport on a failure to appear warrant for criminal mischief as the result of a traffic stop on Route 2 in Newport. 

    On 05-31-19 Tpr. Darcy arrested Alexander Mercado (36) of Bronx, NY on a warrant for parole violation as the result of a traffic stop northbound on the turnpike in York.  The warrant was issued during the traffic stop when the Parole Officer learned that Alexander left the state without permission.  Tpr. Wilkinson & K9 Pinny and Tpr. Stubbs assisted on the stop.

    Sgt. Pappas arrested Jessika Beauchesne for outstanding warrants.

    On 05-31-19 at approximately 1500 hours, Sgt. Burton responded to a report of a woods fire behind the Saco Park and Ride on Industrial Park Road.  The fire was approximately 40 feet by 40 feet in size and was on the other side of a swamp so bystanders couldn’t get to it.  Sgt. Burton got around the swamp and brought the fire under control with a fire extinguisher.  Saco Fire Department then arrived and threw a hose from a pumper truck to Sgt. Burton, which was utilized to hose down the entire area.   

    On 06-01-19 Tpr. Hager stopped Rebecca Chandler (45) for speeding 91mph in a posted 70mph zone at mile 15.9 southbound in Wells.  Chandler’s license status was under suspension for Failure to Pay Fine.  Chandler was issued violation summonses for Operating After Suspension-Infraction and speeding.  

    On 05-26-19 Tpr. Hager stopped a juvenile female for speeding 85mph in a posted 70mph zone at mile 15.9 southbound in Wells. The juveniles license status was under suspension for Accumulation of Convictions (provisional license).  The juvenile was issued a criminal summons for Operating After Suspension and a violation summons for speeding.  Chandler Wrecker Service responded and removed the vehicle and juvenile from the roadway.  Tpr. Hager escorted the wrecker service to the York Park and Ride and met with the juvenile’s mother.  

    Tpr. Stubbs stopped Travis Greenwood (32) for speeding in Ogunquit.  Mr. Greenwood had Maine bail conditions of searches without articulable suspicion and was also on federal probation.  Tpr. Stubbs searched Mr. Greenwood and his vehicle in accordance with the bail conditions and no contraband was located.  Tpr. Stubbs also left a message with Mr. Greenwood’s probation officer.

    On 06-01-19 Tpr. Kelley summonsed a 17-year-old for driving 100mph in Hallowell.  The minor’s mother was notified.  
    On 05-30-19 Tpr. Cook responded to a crash on the turnpike in Gray.  The operator, Sally Howes, was northbound changing lanes when she stated she started to feel hot and light headed and blacked out.  The motorcycle ran off the roadway to the right, struck the guardrail end, went into the ditch and rolled over. Ms. Howes received multiple injuries to her lower extremities.

     Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Martin responded to a hit-and-run crash in Mars Hill.  Tr. Martin investigated and located the man that fled the scene of the crash; the man has a suspended Maine driver’s license.  The man denied being the driver of the vehicle and said someone else was driving.  Witnesses stated they saw the man driving the car when the crash occurred.  The man was issued a criminal summons for OAS, Leaving the Scene of a Crash, and for Driving to Endanger due to him purposely abruptly stopping causing the crash.

     Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Duff was conducting traffic enforcement and stopped a vehicle in Houlton for an infraction.  During the stop, Tr. Duff suspected the affixed inspection certificate was fraudulent.  After an investigation, Tr. Duff was able to determine the inspection certificate was removed from a different vehicle and attached to the vehicle he had stopped.  The male driver was issued a criminal summons for the fraudulent inspection certificate.

     Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Levesque assisted Caribou PD with a chase.  The local officer attempted to stop a vehicle for criminally speeding.  The vehicle refused to stop and took numerous side streets in Caribou eluding the officers.  Tr. Levesque and Tr. Desrosier worked to set spike strips in various locations but the driver kept changing route before reaching the Troopers.  The chase reached speeds of 100 mph and Troopers were told to terminate for safety reasons.  The driver has not been apprehended.

     Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Duff was conducting traffic enforcement and stopped a vehicle due to not displaying a valid certificate of inspection.  During the stop, Tr. Duff suspected the man was impaired and conducted Field Sobriety Testing.  Subsequently, the man was arrested for OUI and transported to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton for a breath test.

     Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Desrosier was conducting traffic enforcement in Frenchville and stopped a vehicle for an infraction.  During the stop, Tr. Desrosier discovered the vehicle registration plates were falsely attached and suspected the driver was impaired.  After conducting Field Sobriety Testing, Tr. Desrosier arrested the man for OUI and transported him to Madawaska PD for a breath test.  The test showed a BAC above the legal limit.  The man faces criminal charges for OUI, Violation of Conditions of Release, Attaching False Plates, and received a traffic summons for Evasion of Excise Tax.

     Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Duff received a traffic complaint from a truck driver of a vehicle that was unnecessarily braking and was being a nuisance/hazard on the roadway.  Tr. Duff located the vehicle and after observing its operation conducted a traffic stop.  Tr. Duff suspected the male driver was impaired and conducted Field Sobriety Testing.  The man was arrested for OUI and brought to the Aroostook County Jail for a breath test.

     Brief Synopsis:      Lt. Harris observed a vehicle parked along the roadway in E Plantation, at an intersection, with a man passed out in the driver’s seat.  Tr. Kilcollins responded to assist with this incident.  Tr. Kilcollins woke the man and began speaking with him.  Tr. Kilcollins suspected the man was impaired and conducted Field Sobriety Testing.  The man was arrested for OUI and transported to Presque Isle PD for a breath test.

    Brief Synopsis:       On May 29th Tr Cotton and Tr Bell were patrolling in Houlton.  Tr Cotton made a traffic stop on a 29 yo male and as a result of the stop, Tr Cotton summonsed the male for an OAS infraction.

    Brief Synopsis:       On June 2nd, Tr Bell made a traffic stop in Houlton.  As a result of this stop, Tr Bell arrested the 27 yo female operator for OAS and found she had 3 outstanding warrants for failing to appear in court.  Tr Bell transported her to ACJ.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Casavant took a report of a theft of cash from a male caller in Mars Hill.  The man reported a female friend had been staying with him and after she recently moved out he discovered she had stolen cash from an envelope.  The case remains under investigation.

    06-05-19

    Trooper Gavin Endre conducted a traffic stop on Route 1A in Ellsworth. Through an investigation, Bruce Merchant (52) of Gouldsboro was arrested for unlawful possession of a prescription pills and summonsed for possession of drug paraphernalia. Melissa Pete (40) of Gouldsboro was arrested for possession of heroin, possession of a suspended license, and summonsed for drug paraphernalia. Both parties were transported to the Hancock County Jail. This stop was a team effort from multiple Troop J Troopers as well as the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office and their K9 Finn.

    Trooper Dana Austin stopped a motor vehicle in Ellsworth, as a result of the investigation, Marie Seymur (25) of Bangor was summonsed for Operating after Suspension.

    Trooper Owen Reed responded to a rollover crash in Blue Hill where the operator had left the scene.  As a result of the investigation Dwight Geel (30) of Ellsworth, was arrested for Disorderly Conduct.  Geel was also summonsed for Leaving the Scene of a Crash.  Ellsworth Police Department assisted.

    Trooper Blain Silk arrested Alec Jordan (29) Waltham for Operating Under the Influence. The incident occurred on the Jr Ralph Rd. in Waltham

    Trooper Caleb McGary responded to a terrorizing complaint in Hancock where it was reported that Jeffrey Long (37) had posted a threatening video on Facebook.  Long was arrested for Terrorizing.  Trooper Owen Reed assisted. 

    Trooper Owen Reed and Trooper Caleb McGary responded to a crash in Hancock where the operator, Autumn Halker (29) of Sullivan, was arrested for felony Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol, Operating After Suspension and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.  Trooper Keith York and the Maine Warden Service assisted. 

     

  • Recent Troop A Promotions

    Corporals Brian Hink and Jonathan Russell

    Brian Hink and Jonathan Russell from Troop B and Kyle Wells from Troop A 
    were promoted to Corporal Monday in ceremonies in Gray and Alfred. Corporals Russell & Hink are K-9 handlers and members of the honor guard.  Russell is a 10 year veteran, while Hink has been a trooper for six years.

  • Troop G Weekly Report

    On 06-07-19 Tpr. MacKinnon observed a vehicletraveling northbound around mile 4 on the Maine Turnpike.  Tpr. MacKinnon noted that the driver had large iPad on the dashboard just to the right of the steering wheel.  The driver was watching a basketball game while driving.  The driver Tralon Tallarico (36) from Scarborough was summoned for watching a TV device while driving.

    Tpr. MacKinnon patrolled the York toll plaza construction area.  Top speeds in the construction zone were 88 mph, 80mph, 80mph.

    On 06-07-19 Tpr. Physic received an erratic operation complaint about a vehicle swerving.  There had been a previous call earlier in the night about this vehicle in the Augusta area.  Tpr. Physic spotted the vehicle in Kennebunk and observed the vehicle operating erratically.  Tpr. Physic got the vehicle to pull over, but it took off.  A chase started which lasted approximately 12 miles.  The chase ended by Tpr. Harakles spiking the vehicle.  Sgt. Pappas, Tpr. Harakles, and Tpr. Physic conducted a felony stop.  The male, Hai Mei, was taken into custody and was transported to York County Jail and charged with Failing to Stop for Police Officer.

    On 06-06-19 at 0038 hours Tpr. Harakles arrested John Andretta of Wiscasset after he led NHSP on a chase that ended at the York toll.  Andretta faces charges in Maine for failure to stop and possession of schedule W drug as well as pending charges from NHSP.

    On 06-08-19 at 0015 hours Tpr. Harakles located a vehicle that had been reported for erratic operation at mile 7 southbound. The operator, Jonathan Brennan of Bowdoin, was OAS and summoned accordingly. 
    Tpr. Cook arrested Zackary Ruel of Sanford for DV assault at mile 67 northbound on the Maine Turnpike in New Gloucester.

    On 06-05-19 Tpr. Darcy stopped a vehicle traveling northbound on the turnpike in Kennebunk. During the traffic stop, it was determined that the driver, Thell Brown (28) of Saco, was driving with a suspended driver’s license and had an on affidavit warrant for two counts of Class A Aggravated Trafficking Schedule W Drugs out of York County.  It was also determined that the passenger, Christopher Cato (30) of Roxbury, MA, had a warrant for unpaid fines out of Cumberland County.  Tpr. Wilkinson and K9 Pinny were called to the scene and Pinny conducted a sniff of the vehicle.  Pinny indicated to the presence of narcotics.  A search of the vehicle was conducted but no narcotics were found.  Both subjects were arrested and transported to the York County Jail in Alfred.  At the jail, the jail staff located 24 grams of crack cocaine and 4 oxycodone pills concealed on Thell.  As a result, Thell was booked on the initial warrant and was additionally charged with Unlawful Trafficking Schedule W Drugs and Trafficking in Prison Contraband.  Christopher was also booked on his warrant as well.  Troopers Williams, Duda and Loder assisted.  Below is Brown’s booking photo and his tattoo.
     
    On 06-04-19 Cpl. Cote stopped Jeremy Walston of Pittsfield at mile 40 on the Maine Turnpike.  Walston was arrested for OUI.

    On 06-03-19 Cpl. Cote stopped Theodore Jeffcoat of Rutland MA at mile 48 following an operations complaint.  Jeffcoat was arrested for OUI.

    On 06-09-19 Tpr. Williams arrested Kathryn Frothingham (30) of Biddeford on an extraditable warrant for Fentanyl possession out of New Hampshire following a traffic stop on I-95 in Ogunquit.

    On 06-07-19 Tpr. Loder stopped a vehicle in South Portland for an expired registration and summonsed the operator, Mark C. Plante (29), for operating after suspension – infraction, and arrested a passenger, Matthew J. Wildes (33), on a warrant charging unpaid fines for possession of scheduled drugs.

    On 06-09-19 Tpr. Loder stopped a vehicle northbound in Saco because the wiring for one of the tail lights was exposed and hanging below the vehicle.  The operator, Lynne MacMillan (29) was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration (suspended for toll violations).

    Brief Synopsis:       Sgt. Clark was investigating a burglary and went to a residence to interview a suspect.  While at the residence, he recognized a female he knew had conditions of release unrelated to his investigation.  One of the stipulations on the bail stated she was not to be at that residence.  Sgt. Clark arrested the woman for the bail violation and she was transported to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton.

     Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Desrosier was conducting traffic enforcement in Wallagrass and stopped a vehicle for an infraction.  During the stop, Tr. Desrosier discovered the male driver had a suspended Maine driver’s license for failing to maintain required insurance.  Tr. Desrosier issued the man a criminal summons for the violation and helped the man arrange to have a licensed driver come get him and the vehicle.

     Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Kilcollins stopped a vehicle in Monticello that had several traffic infractions.  During the stop, he attempted to identify the male passenger but he refused to provide his identification or his name.  Further investigation revealed the man had conditions of release prohibiting from having contact with the female driver.  Tr. Kilcollins arrested the man without incident and transported him to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton.

    Trooper:                   Sgt. Clark

     Brief Synopsis:      On June 7, a pilot from Jackman, was taking off from a 1600’ gravel airstrip in St. Pamphile in a bad crosswind.  The pilot said that he went off the side of the runway and came to rest in the bushes.  The incident happened as he was attempting taking off in his Cessna 185, tail number N484RF.  The pilot was not injured.  The incident was reported to the FAA by the pilot.  The FAA advised that they were not responding and gave him permission to remove the plane.  The pilot is planning to have it removed within the next couple of days.  The FAA asked the pilot to call the State Police and Warden Service and let us know so that we would not assume someone was injured or lost.

     Brief Synopsis:      Tr. Martin responded to the intersection of the County Rd. and Campbell Rd. for a vehicle that went off the road.  During Tr. Martin’s investigation he determined that the male operator was under the influence of alcohol.  Tr. Martin arrested the man and transported him to the Aroostook County Jail.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr Pescitelli made a traffic stop in Easton.  As a result, Tr Pescitelli arrested the male operator on an outstanding warrant and found that he was OAS.  Tr Pescitelli and Tr Levesque transported the male to ACJ.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr Bell observed a vehicle pass him in Oakfield and he could identify the operator.  Tr Bell ran the operator and found that the female operator was under suspension.  Tr Bell stopped the car and issued a summons for the violation.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr Adams was patrolling in Patten.  Tr Adams saw a female standing on the porch of her home and Tr Adams knew that the female had 2 outstanding arrest warrants.  Tr Adams arrested the female and transported her to Penobscot County Jail.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr Adams was patrolling in Patten.  Tr Adams met a vehicle being operated by a female that Tr Adams knew to be under suspension.  Tr Adams stopped the vehicle and issued the female a summons for OAS.

    Brief Synopsis:       Cpl Hafford responded to Madawaska Lake Twp for a report of a vehicle chasing another vehicle.  Investigation would show that there was no vehicle chasing the C1, but that the C1 was under suspension.  Cpl Hafford summonsed the female operator for OAS.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Casavant was called to residence on the State Rd in Mapleton to a foreclosed home.  The property management company discovered the door kicked in.  No further damage or items were missing inside the residence.  The case remains under investigation.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Casavant began investigating a burglary and theft of a boat motor and assorted tools from a residence on the Houlton Rd in Easton. The case remains under investigation.

    Brief Synopsis:       Sergeant Haines and his son Luke along with Tr. Casavant, his wife Jess and children Charlie and Cruise ran the Presque Isle leg of the Special Olympics Torch Run.

    Brief Synopsis:       Tr. Saucer was called to Ivy Lane in Oakfield for a report of a stolen boat.  The camp owner had been there several days prior and just discovered his boat was missing.  The camp had previously been broken into two years ago and the owner didn’t know if it may be related.  The case remains under investigation.

    Trooper Blaine Silk stopped a vehicle in Machias for not having an inspection sticker. During the stop, Taylor Rigel (18) of Machiasport was found to be illegally transporting marijuana in the vehicle. RIGEL also had furnished marijuana to a juvenile in the vehicle. RIGEL was summonsed for Illegal Transportation of Drugs by a Minor and Furnishing Drugs.

    Trooper Keith York summonsed Julia Badaraco (20) of Waterville and Florida, for Operating Without a License after a traffic stop in Wesley revealed that her license in Florida was currently under suspension.

    Trooper Keith York arrested Carl Hatch (65) of Lubec, for Violation of Conditions of Release after a search of his residence in Lubec revealed he had been consuming alcohol.  Sergeant Jeff Ingemi assisted.

    Trooper Blaine Silk stopped a vehicle in Sullivan for a motor vehicle defect. During the stop, Trooper Silk found the operator, Hilaree Jovanelli (38) of Brewer license was suspended. Trooper Silk summonsed JOVANELLI for Operating After License Suspension.

    Trooper Blaine Silk stopped a vehicle in Hancock for speeding. During the stop, it was discovered the operator, John Strunk (57) of Hancock had not registered his vehicle for almost a year. Trooper Silk summonsed STRUNK for Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle Greater than 150 Days.

    Trooper Blaine Silk responded to a minor injury crash on Airline Road in Amherst. Upon investigating the crash, it was discovered Patrick Mullen (49) of Portland had lost control and struck a guard rail, causing the vehicle to roll. MULLEN has a conditional license and was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center where a blood kit was drawn. MULLEN was summonsed for Operating Under the Influence. Sergeant Timothy Varney of the State Police and Corporal Fitch of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation.

    Sergeant Timothy Varney arrested Kayla Massicotte (29) of Trenton for Operating Under the Influence and Failure to Report an Accident.

    Trooper Jeffrey Taylor arrested George Bagley (32) of Milbridge for Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol as result of a traffic stop for speeding on Route 1 in Columbia. Isaac Davies (20) of Sullivan was also summonsed for Minor Possessing Liquor as he was in the vehicle and had consumed alcohol.

  • ROCKLAND CHILD PORN ARREST

    State Police have arrested a Rockland man and charged him with possessing child pornography.   68 year old Douglas Mills was arrested Wednesday by members of the State Police Computer Crimes Unit and Rockland Police.  Mills has been under investigation since January and his home at 41 Pleasant Street was searched in May.  An analysis of Mill’s electronic equipment revealed images of child pornography and he was charged with possession of sexually explicit material. Mills was taken to the Knox County Jail.  Also involved in the investigation was the probation division of the Maine Department of Corrections.

    2019 K9 Graduates

    Six new law enforcement teams of police and their canine partners graduate from the State Police Canine School Friday.  The officers and their dogs have spent the past 14 weeks training across the state in various locations and conditions.  The graduation takes place at 9 am at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in Vassalboro.
