Carmel ? One lane is now open on I-95 in Carmel between mile 167 and 168.

An incident began as a car fire and then spread into the surrounding wooded area forcing the closure of I-95 southbound.

Crews say the fire is now 75% contained and urge motorists to seek an alternate route as there will be long delays until further notice.

Carmel ? A fire on I-95 has closed the interstate southbound between mile 167 and 168 in Carmel.

The incident began as a car fire and then spread into the surrounding wooded area. The fire is about 1,000 yards in length and has stretched approximately 500 yards into the woods.

Motorists should expect long delays and are urged to seek an alternate route.

Fire and other emergency personnel are on the scene.

Pittsfield ? A multi-vehicle crash that had closed I-95 southbound in Pittsfield at mile 146 is now back open.

Southbound traffic will be slow through the area and motorists are advised to allow for extra time.

Pittsfield ? A multi-vehicle crash has occurred on I-95 southbound in Pittsfield at mile 146. The Interstate is currently closed southbound in that area.

All southbound traffic will use Exit 150. In 3/10 of a mile motorists will turn right onto Industrial Park Street then proceed one mile and turn right onto Route 11. Traffic will then turn right onto Baker Street/Hinckley Road then back to I-95 south. This detour route is approximately 15 miles.

Emergency personnel say this will most likely be an extended closure. Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route.

Augusta ? From July 31 to August 6, 17 bicyclists are pedaling 337 miles from Calais to Portland on the East Coast Greenway, a 3,000-mile trail route that extends from the Canadian border in Calais to Key West, Florida. The bike ride is a Week A Year (WAY) tour hosted by the East Coast Greenway Alliance (ECGA) to help fundraise toward developing and improving the route.

Poland ? Crews will be replacing two culverts on Route 11 in Poland beginning on Monday, August 8th.

The location of the project is approximately 4/10ths of a mile west of the 5-Corners intersection. Motorists will travel a signed 4.3 mile detour of Route 11 traffic utilizing Route 26 and White Oak Hill Road.

The project will begin at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, August 8th. It is anticipated all work will be completed by the end of the day on Wednesday, August 10th.

Bangor ? The paving contractor has been made available this week for the Union Street Bridge project in Bangor. As such, the schedule for closures of Union Street and the on and off-ramps has changed. This is now the latest schedule for this week:

Monday, August 8th: The southbound passing lane will be closed from 7:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m.

Bangor ? Crews will be working on Interstate 95 during the overnight hours on the Union Street Bridge project in Bangor. This work involves closing one lane of traffic at a time on the interstate, northbound and/or southbound, to allow for construction to take place safely between the hours of 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Work will be phased to allow for only one lane to be shut down at a time. The current closure schedule for this week is as follows:

Monday, August 8th: The southbound passing lane will be closed.

Hallowell ? Crews will be performing a bridge joint repair on Water Street (Route 201) in Hallowell tomorrow, Thursday, August 11th.

There will be alternating one-way traffic from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Motorists are advised of probable delays and to plan accordingly.

Falmouth ? The Exit 11 ramp on I-295 southbound is now open to traffic.

Earlier, a tractor trailer had overturned on the ramp in Falmouth.

Motorists are advised that traffic will be slow in the area for some time.
