The I-95 Bridge spanning Route 201 in Fairfield is undergoing a deck replacement that will impact motorists until the project shuts down for the winter in November.
Motorists should allow extra time as speed limits are reduced to 45 mph for northbound traffic and fines are doubled in this work zone. Northbound wide loads will be restricted between exits 132 and 138.
The Exit 133 northbound on-ramp has closed until mid-November. Motorists who use that on-ramp are being detoured to Exit 132 via Routes 201 and 139. The existing northbound Exit 133 off-ramp will close on Friday, September 25th but traffic will be rerouted to a temporary off-ramp in the same vicinity.
Crossovers on I-95 are being built so that northbound traffic will be shifted on Monday, September 28th. One southbound through lane will remain open and the southbound speed limit is being reduced to 45 mph.
T. Buck Construction of Auburn has been awarded the $ 2 million contract for this work that includes replacing the concrete decks on the northbound and southbound bridges; installing new bridge decks and waterproof membranes; replacing existing curb and rail along the bridge; and paving.
The project will be completed in the summer of 2016
