Paving to Begin in South Portland

South Portland ? Pavement preservation work along with drainage and safety improvements will begin at the intersection of Broadway and Route 77 in South Portland on Wednesday, June 22nd.

The project will begin at the intersection of Broadway and Route 77 and extend 0.87 of a mile to the Cape Elizabeth-South Portland town line.

On Wednesday, June 22nd, work will begin to improve the sidewalks along this stretch.

Safety Fence Replacement to Begin on I-295 in Portland

Portland ? Crews will be replacing the safety fence on the Deering Avenue overpass on I-295 in Portland beginning Sunday night, June 26th.

All work to replace the safety fence will be done between 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. One lane will be closed on both the north and southbound sides between Exits 5 and 7. Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling through the 2,000ft lane closure work zones.

This project will be done in four consecutive nights, with the anticipated completion date of Wednesday, June 29th.

Parlin Pond Bridge Closed

Parlin Pond Township ? Due to recent heavy rains and local flooding, the Parlin Pond Bridge located on Route 201 in Parlin Pond Township has been closed. This bridge is located one-half mile north of the Spencer Pond Road.

There is erosion of the roadway adjacent to the bridge. All available resources are being deployed so the road can be re-opened as soon as safely possible.

The approximate 100 mile detour route will take motorists from Route 6 into Greenville then to the town of Abbot, back westerly on Route 16 to Bingham then back to Route 201.

Parlin Pond Bridge Back Open

Parlin Pond Township ? The Parlin Pond Bridge, located on Route 201 in Parlin Pond Township, is now back open to two lanes of traffic.

Crews worked yesterday afternoon into the early morning hours today to open the bridge with a gravel roadway. Paving will take place tomorrow, July 1st, in time for the holiday weekend.

Recent heavy rains and local flooding caused erosion of the roadway leading to the bridge.

Bridge Deck Replacement to Begin in Fairfield

Fairfield ? A $2 million bridge deck replacement project on the Western Avenue Bridge in Fairfield that carries Route 139 over I-95 begins in July. This project involves working 24 hours a day, seven days a week and includes long-term lane closures and detours.

The Western Avenue Bridge in Fairfield crosses over I-95 and will be temporarily closed to all traffic on July 7th from 9:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. During this time, crews will be lifting the bridge in order to install new bridge bearings. There will be a signed detour route during this time.

Bridge Painting to Begin in Portland

Portland - MaineDOT contractors will be painting bridges in the greater Portland area this summer for the next two to four months.

The first three bridges are the Deering Avenue Bridge over I-295 and the I-295 northbound and southbound bridges over Preble Street. The work involves removing the existing paint, and reapplying a new and improved paint system. To minimize impacts on traffic, most of this work will be performed overnight between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. at Deering Avenue, and between 7 p.m. and 7a.m. at Preble Street.

MaineDOT Receives $7.7 Million Grant Award for Further Infrastructure Improvements to the International Marine Terminal in Portland

Augusta ? Today, the Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) was notified that the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) will award $7,719,173 in grant funding to the Maine Intermodal Port Productivity Project (MIPPP) for infrastructure improvements at the International Marine Terminal (IMT) in Portland.

Selective Cutting Along I-295 to Begin in Late July

Yarmouth ? Crews will be selectively cutting trees along I-295 in Yarmouth and Freeport beginning later this month.

Work will be on I-295 from mile marker 14 to mile marker 21 both north and southbound. While there will be no lane closures, this daytime operation may require the occasional closure of shoulders. Motorists are advised to stay alert and remain focused on their driving while traveling through a work zone.
