Bangor I-95 Union Street Bridge Overnight Work Schedule

Bangor ? Crews will be working on Interstate 95 during the overnight hours on the Union Street Bridge project in Bangor. This work involves lane closures on the interstate to allow for construction to take place safely between the hours of 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The current schedule for the week beginning Sunday, September 14th is as follows:

Sunday, September 14th: The northbound on-ramp and the northbound travel lane will be closed.

Monday, September 15th: The northbound on-ramp and the northbound travel lane will be closed.

Overnight Paving on I-95 from Newport to Carmel

Newport ? Crews will be milling and paving on and off-ramps on Interstate 95 northbound from Newport to Carmel in the overnight hours beginning on Sunday, September 14th.

The schedule for the week is as follows:

Sunday, September 14th:

Exit 159 will be closed from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. The Exit 161 off-ramp will be closed from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

Monday, September 15th:

Exit 161 on and off-ramps will be closed from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

Tuesday, September 16th:

Nighttime Paving to Begin in Portland

Portland ? Crews will be paving nightly in Portland beginning on Sunday, September 14th.

The milling and paving work will extend from Fox Street and Somerset Street, continuing to Middle Street, also known as Franklin Arterial. All work will be performed from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Flaggers will assist with one lane closure and two lanes of traffic that will still accessible.

Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route due to extended delays that are expected.

It is anticipated all work will be completed by Thursday, September 25th.

I-195 Overnight Ramp Closures

Saco ? Due to the cooler temperatures, the schedule has changed for the paving of the on and off-ramps on I-195 in Saco.

The schedule for the week is as follows:

Monday, September 15th:

The Exit 2A westbound off-ramp will be closed from 9:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.

The Exit 2B westbound off-ramp will be closed from 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m.

Tuesday, September 16th:

The Exit 1 eastbound on-ramp will be closed from 9:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.

Motorists will follow the signed detour route during these closures.

Sarah Mildred Long Bridge Replacement Informational Open House

Kittery ? The Maine Department of Transportation and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation are sponsoring an open house to showcase the final design of the new Sarah Mildred Long Bridge. Members of the public and the media are encouraged to explore the open house?s multi-media exhibits, which will include 3D animations, slideshows, and a model to help people understand how aspects of the new bridge will promote mobility, avoid congestion, enable growth, and support a thriving port.

Culvert Replacement in Sidney

Sidney ? Crews will be replacing a culvert on Middle Road in Sidney beginning on Wednesday, September 17th.

The exact location of the pipe replacement is .06 of a mile south of Drummond Road. Traffic will be detoured approximately six miles from Drummond Road to Route 104 to Lyons Road.

It is anticipated all work will be completed by the end of the day on Thursday, September 18th.

Rumble Strips to be Added to Route 202 in Winthrop

Winthrop ? Crews will be grinding rumble strips into the pavement along the roadway centerline on Route 202 in Winthrop beginning on Thursday, September 18th.

The location is on Route 202, a 4.60 mile stretch of road beginning 0.08 of a mile east of the intersection of Route 202 and Annabessacook Road extending easterly 4.60 miles to 0.03 of a mile east of Welch Point Road.

Motorists should expect at least one 11ft. lane open in each direction and should anticipate possible delays between 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Motorists are advised to follow appropriate signage and detour routes through the work zones.

Report Ranks Maine Best in New England

Augusta ? The Hartgen Annual Highway Report, released by the Reason Foundation, has ranked Maine tops in New England and fourth overall in the United States for having the lowest administrative disbursements per mile.

Additionally, the report ranked Maine 16th in the nation in overall highway performance and cost-effectiveness in 2012. In 2011, the state was ranked 18th overall and in 2009 the ranking was 29th.
