November 2023
Work in November saw concrete being placed for the median pier footing, with the construction forms and reinforcing steel being tied for the median pier stem wall. Workers completed H-pile driving at abutment 1, and began construction forms and tying reinforcing steel. At abutment 2, work involved the construction of driving frame, vibro tips, and splices. The Northbound intersection shoulder was graded and paved.
October 2023
Work at Bucknam Road Bridges involved continued demolition, removing the structural steel and abutment 1.
September 2023
In September, workers finished fine grading and the West approaches. Paving was finished and then the roadways striped. Traffic was then shifted for phase two layout. Workers performed slope repair at the West approach. Braced barriers were installed. Workers continued shielding and preparing the existing bridge for phase two demolition.
August 2023
Completed and Demobilized sheet pile equipment from Johnson Rd. Removed overhead Sign from Johnson Rd. Finished placing Lightweight Glass Aggregate and gravel at Bucknam Rd. East Approach / Abutment 2. Placed Phase 1 Approach slab at Abut. 2 on Bucknam Rd. Loam, seeded and placed matting on completed slope at Abut. 1 & 2. Removed deck formwork and moved overhang brackets on Bucknam Rd. Phase 1. Installed Snow fence on Buckman Rd. Stockpiled Gravel at laydown yard.
July 2023
Work through July involved completing the placement of 12.0 CY of Class LP concrete for Phase 1 Curb and End posts. Workers continued to drive sheet piles at Johnson Rd. Bridge Site. Began placing Ultra Lightweight Foamed Glass Aggregate at Abutment 2. Began stripping deck forms from Phase 1 Deck placement.
June 2023
June saw the continued installation of concrete forms and rebar placement for the new phase one deck on Bucknam Road. The paint striping was refreshed this month as well.
May 2023
Stripped median pier forms. Began setting structural steel for Phase 1. Installed protective shielding for Phase 1. Completed structural steel erection: G4 through G7, A, B and C. Installed all diaphragms and protective shielding. Completed final torquing and checking of splices and diaphragms. Began installing overhang brackets on new steel. Took blocking shots and began forming deck. Began forming Phase 1 deck. Installed overhang brackets on fascia girders. Installed shear studs for Phase 1. Installed new signal poles at northbound and southbound I-295 intersections.ity Pole at Sta. 9+10.
April 2023
Completed dynamic load tests and drove H-Pile at Abutment 1 and at pier. Began installing forms and rebar at Abutment 1. Installed forms and rebar and placed 40 CY of Class A concrete at median pier. Stripped forms and installed geo fabric and stone slope protection at Abutment 2. Received delivery of remaining H-Pile, concrete pipe and catch basins. Installed Utility Pole at Sta. 9+10.
March 2023
Installed median pier cofferdams and earth retainage for phase 1 construction. Finished driving Phase 1 Pile for Abutment 2. Completed Phase 1 demo of Abutment 1. Mobilized crane to median for Phase 1 pile driving. Placed Abutment – 2, H-Pile collars, and began forming Abutment.
