Stabilization Program Update from Maine EMS

Greetings Maine EMS teammates,

I am thrilled and honored to have the chance to join the team at Maine EMS, as I close out my first week in the office, I am so inspired and excited to see the great work going on in EMS and Public Safety in Maine. As one of my first official acts, I am extending the deadline for application submission to the Maine Emergency Medical Services Stabilization and Sustainability Fund grant program by 60 days. The new final date for submission will be Friday, 3/29/2024. Applications must be submitted by COB on that Friday to be considered.

As of January 19th, we have received and reviewed 65 applications, and in the last week alone, we have received another 40 applications.  We wanted to take this opportunity to discuss some of the prevalent issues we have been seeing with the applications in hopes that we can prevent any delays. The vast majority of the applications have been missing either the income statements or the balance sheets.  We have included in this communication an example of an income statement and a balance sheet for you to reference as you prepare your applications.  We have also had a number of applications that have included financial statements for the town and not just the EMS agency.  Please remember that in order to finalize your application, we must be able to tie your application numbers to the financial statements that you provide.  For those agencies that have already submitted an application, if it was incomplete, you will receive an email notifying you of what is missing from your application, along with a link to schedule a time to meet virtually so we can work through these issues together.

Thank you for your support of Maine EMS,

Wil O’Neal, Director of Maine EMS
