Drainage Work in Hallowell Starts May 13th

Hallowell ? Crews will be replacing closed drainage systems in Hallowell beginning at the intersection of Spring Street and extending approximately 1,000 ft. toward Water Street starting on Monday, May 13th.

Closed drainage replacement will take place for approximately the first two weeks of the project, on the west side (uphill) of the railroad tracks and extending nearly 600 ft. toward Spring Street. Crews will move down to the Second Street intersection to excavate and determine the cause of recent failures and settlements at this location.

Paving Project to Begin in Livermore

Livermore ? On May 13th, a paving project will begin in Livermore on Route 4 beginning approximately one-half mile north of the intersection of Water Hill Road and extend northerly for three miles to just north of Goding Road.

The mainline travel way will be ?shimmed? to remove any rutting and to restore a cross pipe. This will be followed by paving on both the mainline and shoulders. In addition, there will be some updates to guardrail end terminals and miscellaneous guardrail repairs.

Trenton Paving to Begin

Trenton ? Route 3 construction has resumed and paving is scheduled to start Monday, May 13th as the $2.3 million road and intersection improvements near completion.

The project included reconstruction of one-tenth of a mile of Route 230 and six-tenths of a mile of Route 3 in Trenton. To improve safety and traffic flow, the intersection of Route 230 and Route 3 have been redesigned to include a new traffic signal and turning lanes.

I-95 Exit 113 Interchange Bridge Eastbound Closing

Augusta ? The I-95 Exit 113 Interchange Bridge carrying Route 3 East traffic from the Exit 113 Southbound off ramp to the intersection of Route 3 and Route 104 will be closed starting Monday, May 13th for approximately 3 months. Eastbound traffic will be detoured along the Old Belgrade Road and Route 104. MaineDOT is placing numerous signs in the area and along the detour route, and is asking drivers to please plan ahead and allow extra time for their travel. For westbound Route 3 traffic, the I-95 Exit 113 Interchange Bridge will remain open.

Paving Begins Along the Causeway in Naples

Naples ? A paving project will begin in Napes along the Causeway beginning Monday, May 13th.

Pavement put down last season did not meet the quality standards that are necessary, according to project specifications.

Grinding the current pavement will take place from Monday, May 13th to Wednesday, May 15th. Weather permitting, paving will take place on Thursday and Friday, May 16th and 17th. If extra time is needed, crews will continue the paving operation on Saturday and Monday, May 18th and 20th.

Portland Paving Projects

Portland ? Paving projects will take place around Portland beginning on May 15th and ending by mid-September. Each location will feature a "shim" coat of paving and may include additional efforts such as curb work and adjustment of sewers.

The following locations are scheduled for paving:

  • Veranda Street at the intersection of Washington Avenue will be paved, extending to the intersection of the on-ramps to I-295.

  • Eastern Promenade paving starts at Atlantic Street and extends to Washington Avenue.

Manchester Road Closure

Manchester ? Two cross culverts in Manchester will be replaced starting on May 21st resulting in a road closure beginning at the intersection of the Collins Road and Pond Road.

Variable message boards along with additional signage will guide travelers through the 5 mile detour route from the Pond and Collins Road to Benson Road to Hallowell-Litchfield Road to Collins Mills Road to the Neck Road.

The detour will be in effect from May 21st until May 24th.

Load Test on Mill Stream Bridge in Eddington

Eddington ?While work continues on the Mill Stream Bridge in Eddington, crews will be conducting a load test during the afternoon of Tuesday, May 21st. (Rain date of Wednesday, May 22nd)

The Advanced Structures and Composites Center at the University of Maine has been contacted by MaineDOT to conduct this live load test. The goal is to provide a more accurate load rating for the bridge.

All traffic will be stopped for a period of up to five minutes during each individual test. Six tests will take place throughout the afternoon.

Pavement Replacement in Madawaska

Madawaska ? Pavement milling to remove and replace failing hot mix asphalt on Route 1 in Madawaska begins on Monday, May 20th.

This project is located on Route 1 beginning at the intersection of 3rd Street, extending westerly for 1.64 miles, ending approximately 260 ft. before the Madawaska/Frenchville town line.

In addition to the pavement work, crews will be performing under drain repair for the replacement of a collapsed pipe. This work will be located between 5th Avenue and 13th Avenue.
