Upcoming Route 24 Closure in Gardiner

GARDINER - The Maine Department of Transportation will be conducting work on Route 24 in Gardiner for a large culvert replacement project. Clearing and prep work for this project began on August 18. A road closure/detour will start on or about September 2. This road will be closed to all but local traffic for up to 30 days.  A temporary detour on Riverside Road will be in place during this closure. Work will be completed by this fall.

The contractor on this project is Wyman & Simpson Inc of Richmond, Maine. The contract amount is $484,389.20.

Overnight Ramp Closures on Route 1 in Brunswick

BRUNSWICK - The Maine Department of Transportation will be closing the on ramp to U.S. Route 1 Southbound from Cooks Corner and the off ramp from Route 1 Southbound to Route 196 (Brunswick Topsham Bypass) on August 18 and August 19 from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM.    

The ramps will be closed with signs and cones, and traffic will be expected to use the next available exit. 

Drivers heading towards Route 1 Southbound from Cooks Corner should remain on Route 24(Bath Road) to Maine Street. 

Weekend Overnight Ramp Closure on Route 1 in Brunswick

The Maine Department of Transportation will be closing the southbound off ramp from U.S. Route 1 onto Maine Street on August 17, 2025, from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM.    

The ramp closure will be marked on message boards and cones, and signage will be used for directing drivers. Travelers driving south should use the Topsham / Lewiston Route 196 and Route 24 Exit for the Topsham Bypass to reconnect with Route 201 / Main Street.  

UPDATED - Overnight Ramp Closure on Route 1 in Brunswick

The Maine Department of Transportation will be closing the northbound on ramp to U.S. Route 1 from Cressey Road to Route 1 North on August 14, 2025, from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM.  Main Street to Mason Street, Water Street, and Cressey Road will remain open to all traffic and only the northbound onramp to Route 1 will be closed.  

The ramp closure will be marked on message boards and cones, and signage will be used for directing drivers to the next available exit.

Overnight Ramp Closures on I-95 in Augusta

The Maine Department of Transportation will be conducting overnight closures on the I‑95 Southbound and Northbound Exit 113 ramps in Augusta for curb installation work. On August 11 from 9:00 PM to August 12 at 6:00 AM., the southbound on and off ramps at Exit 113 will be closed. Motorists will need to use Exit 112 southbound. There will be a detour on the east side of Exit 113 northbound directing traffic to use the River Road to the Old Belgrade Road to reach points west of I-95.

Roadwork on Route 1 in Woolwich

WOOLWICH - The Maine Department of Transportation will be conducting work on Route 1 in Woolwich starting on Monday, August 4. Work is scheduled to be completed by October 1. 

This is a highway preservation project that involves improving the pavement with a new thin asphalt layer.

The project area begins at .02 miles south of Route 127 and extends north 0.3 miles of Montsweag Road. 

Drivers will encounter a one lane road during construction and short delays under 10 minutes.
