Augusta, ME (July 8, 2025) – The Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) along with the New Hampshire DOT will conduct an inspection of the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge Tuesday, July 15, 2025 and Wednesday, July 16, 2025. The lift bridge carries the Route 1 Bypass over the Piscataqua River between Kittery, Maine and Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
WATERVILLE/WINSLOW – The project to replace the Ticonic Bridge reached its next milestone Thursday afternoon, June 26th when the bridge re-opened to eastbound traffic (Waterville heading into Winslow). Traffic may now utilize the new bridge on the upstream side of the Kennebec River, on what will eventually become the westbound lanes. Westbound traffic will follow the same detour as before utilizing the Carter Memorial Bridge, south of the project site.
FRANKLIN COUNTY - The Maine Department of Transportation will be doing roadway preservation work on Route 4 beginning Monday, June 23. The project area begins just south of Route 27 in Farmington and extends north 20.78 miles, ending 0.72 miles north of Bog Pond Road in Phillips. Work is scheduled to be completed by mid-October. Drivers may encounter a single-lane, alternating traffic pattern through project locations. The contractor on this project is Pike Industries of Fairfield, ME. The contract amount is $10,106,824.60.
AUGUSTA- The Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) will host a ribbon cutting in Brewer to mark the opening of the I-395/Route 9 Connector Friday, June 27.
ANDROSCOGGIN & CUMBERLAND COUNTIES - The Maine Department of Transportation will be conducting roadway preservation work on Route 136 starting the week of Monday, June 16. The project covers an area from the Durham Road line north for 12.06 miles to the Auburn town line. Work will be completed by Thursday, July 3rd. Drivers may encounter a single-lane, alternating traffic pattern through the project location. These alternating lanes will be directed by flaggers. The contractor on this project is Eurovia Atlantic Coast, LLC of Johnson City, NY.

ORONO - The Maine Department of Transportation will be performing bridge maintenance activities on the Brandon M. Silk Bridge that carries traffic along Route 2 over the Stillwater River. Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 9th and be completed in late August. Northbound traffic over the bridge will not be affected. Southbound traffic will use a signed detour route that follows College Avenue, Stillwater Avenue, and Bennoch Road. The contractor on this project is BMB Construction of Holden. The contract amount is $500,000.
ANDROSCOGGIN, FRANKLIN, & SOMERSET COUNTIES - The Maine Department of Transportation will be doing roadway preservation work on Routes 2 and 4. Work on Route 2 begins 0.40 miles west of the Skowhegan/Norridgewock town line and extends west for 2.39 miles. Work on Route 4 begins in Jay at the intersection of Routes 2 and 4, and extends south 5.84 miles. There is also work scheduled on Route 4 beginning in Livermore at Church Street and extending south 9.77 miles. Work is scheduled to begin on Thursday, June 5th and be completed by Monday, June 16th.
WILTON - The Maine Department of transportation is performing an emergency replacement on a failing culvert located on US Route 2/4 in Wilton. The work area is 200 feet south of Munson Road. Work is scheduled to begin on June 9th and is scheduled to be finished by June 16th. Drivers can expect a full closure of the roadway at the project location. A detour utilizing Routes 133 and 156 will be in effect for the project duration. The detour route will be marked. The contractor on this project is Wyman & Simpson, INC. of Richmond. The contract amount is $342,000.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY - The Maine Department of Transportation will be closing I-295 on the southbound side at mile marker 12 on Wednesday, June 11th. Closures will occur for no more than 25 minutes at a time. These closures will be facilitated by variable message signs and a Maine State Police detail. This work is necessary to accommodate the installation of an Overhead Sign Support & Dynamic Message Sign. Closures will occur from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., beginning the evening of Wednesday, June 11th and concluding the morning of Thursday, June 12th.
