At least five people died in 2018 using fireworks, and an estimated 9,100 people were taken to hospital emergency departments with fireworks-related injuries. About 62 percent of those injuries occurred in the 30 days before and after July Fourth celebrations. Children ages 10 to 14 had the highest rate of injuries, followed by teens ages 15 to 19.
